Ivory Route

Very underrated Xerjoff. Smells well balanced and has great performance. First time I tried it, it smelled familiar. I can kind of see why people call it like a spicy Layton or Naxos, it's definitely somewhere in that family. Signature scent worthy.

My favorite perfume from Xerjoff . It's a fragrance for all occasions, with a touch of both formality and casual elegance, and it's also very alluring to women. The perfume is expertly blended; I didn't notice any overpowering spices or patchouli, but rather a sophisticated and subtle blend. However, I wish Xerjoff would offer this perfume in a 100ml size, which would be more convenient for regular users. Overall 10/10

Wonderful. I find it a spicier, more wearable version of Naxos with toned down cashmeran. I'm convinced there's lavender and tobacco in here, just more subtle than in Naxos, and with more complexity. It also slightly resembles 40 Knots, but I find this one more interesting and less like Ambre Nuit. There's a very subtle sea-like element, perhaps it's wet patchouli, I can't pin it dowm but it's gorgeous. On card it smells off-puttingly sweet but on skin this is truly beautiful.

This is close African Leather from Memo. I have both, and I prefer Ivory Route.

I have five Xerjoff fragrances in my collection and Ivory Route is my overall favourite. This fragrance to me is mesmerising. It's the way it transitions that has me hooked. From the spicy opening to base notes, this is an amazing fragrance. Longevity is a key aspect for me as well considering having dry skin. I find there's only one downside, and that would have to be pricing. Albeit if I could only keep one fragrance out of my small collection this would be it, due to its uniqueness.

Got a 50ml bottle today. This fragrance is really good,i get sweet warm spices. Spicebomb is more complex with citrus and pepper notes,here is only sweetness. It actually reminds me of Bvlgari Man in black,but smells better. Performance is good. Really good fragrance from the house of Xerjoff,definately buy if you like spicy and sweet scents.

Absolutely Gorgeous! I would have never looked at this fragrance without Demi Rawlings’ influence (and I scooped it up at Jomashop for $112!).

In the opening it's sweet, green, and spicy. As it dries down it becomes less sweet and heavy, and a more spicy and woody scent with the patchouli giving some darkness. 8.5/10

I felt the sweet note was too strong at the beginning, maybe due to the season, but the dry down omg, such a beautiful scent. its truely complex and just wow. it was a quick decision to get the full bottle.

MY FAVORITE XERJOFF EVER!! This is so beautiful, I have no complaints with this scent. Spicy, woody, sexy, while also being fresh and unique. Such a gem. Will buy as soon as I get my money up!

This is a very distinctive spicy vanilla sandalwood fragrance. It is warm, rich, spicy and dry at the same time, which totally captures the idea of 'ivory route'. One probably would imagine deserts, camel caravans, merchants, spices, ivory, gold and gemstones speaking of ivory route and it is exactly how it smells. Opulent and unique. One of my favourite fall/winter scents. A must-have in Xerjoff collection.

The prevailing sentiment here is that Ivory Route is a fall/winter fragrance. I disagree. Yes it's spicy. Yes it's sweet. But everything from the scent profile to the context of its story suggest it is more suited to warmer climes, and I must say I agree. Whilst the goal posts of the JTC collection from Xerjoff are deliberately ambiguous, we're told enough to glean that this is a fragrance for the adventurous traveller. Whilst this fragrance is indeed relatively mass appealing and could evoke an infinite number of destinations, rather in fact the general sentiment of travel somewhere new and foreign, the name we're given seems to point to more specific climes. Ivory, evoking the rare, luxurious and controversial commodity, and Route, suggesting the idea of travelling along the same paths traders of this material took to long ago and unfortunately in some cases, still today. One cannot help but see the link between the name and the Silk Road, historically used for much the same endeavours throughout Asia. Whether it is this storytelling, the actual composition of the spices and woods within the bottle, or a combination of the two, when I wear this fragrance I am transported to those locales, to dry sunny plains, and dark humid jungle, where the fresh spices, supported by the herbal basil and patchouli, sing in a far more interesting way than if they were simply warming me in the cosy winter. If the concept is indeed adventure and surprise, it feels almost too tepid and secure to wear this fragrance in cool weather, where those spices may be typically found to western noses. It would be easy to believe, that when that creamy sandalwood kicks in and merges with the delicate spice to create an almost white chocolate accord, that this further still cements the fragrance as a winter warmer, but I'd have to disagree. That creamy woody base allows the spices to embed themselves in that exciting oriental story, and keep from cloying, rather softening and settling as an almost sweet seductive incense that excites and invigorates in the sun. By all means wear this fragrance in the fall, and wear it in the winter, where its notes and profile are most typically found. But I would urge you to be adventurous, as the scent intends, and give it a try in warmer weather, because for me, that's where it becomes something truly special.

Why do I smell orange in the perfume?

There is a lot in here that isn’t mentioned. Definitely amber and something resinous. It’s warm and a nice scent for winter. Good longevity.

I don’t quite know how to describe this one other than something that I truly love! It’s warm, it’s green-feeling, it’s exotic in its spice profile and adventurous in its versatility. This was a blind buy but there’s no buyer’s remorse here, only the wish that I popped for a bigger bottle! The incense note is prominent on top but inoffensive and the wood and vanilla on bottom keeps it smooth upon dry down. I will say this one is likely very much an acquired taste but if you happen to acquire the taste, you’ll keep coming back for it

There's a prominent sweet note here, much sweeter than I imagined after seeing the notes and comments. It's nice and inoffensive, but it reminds me of a much cheaper designer cologne-cannot remember which one though. Not worth a Xerjoff price point imo

Ivory route smells like spicy and dry pencil shavings in a good way, the silage and projection are above average.

Beautiful spicy, warm and sweet oriental. Didn't think much of it on my first wear but it's really smooth and not overwhelmingly spicy or sweet. Perfect for cold days. Price is also good when it's on sale, I think I've seen it for just over 100 euro when it's on sale

It's fascinating how so many don't think this smells like African Leather. To me, they are pretty similar and definetly in the same scent family, but with Xerjoff creating a more creamy, sandalwoody twist on the profile, though it thoroughly retains its spiciness. Really dig this one Good performance and the creaminess makes it more tolerable for the wearer and the surroundings in versatile occasions. Edit: There is a spiciness that isn't well blended enough to be enjoyable long term for my personal taste. A certain ''stinging'' type of synthetic spiciness is what makes it hard to smell over and over for me. Not really any creamy sandalwood on my skin. Really just heavy spices, which was the reason why i even blind bought this. African Leather still retains its glory. Though i'll pass on this one. Edit 2: Sold it.

"This reminds me of" section is totally useless to me at this point. This doesn't smell anything like African Leather, and I can't imagine how anyone would make that association. I'm pretty open minded as well. This section used to be fairly dependable, but it's getting more and more, and at this point is broadly nonsensical.

This smells like Carlisle. Plain and simple.

Opens with beautiful spices, similiar to African leather, but not as loud, imo Xerjoff is a better blend . I get a very slight animalic touch a few minutes in the dries down to a beautiful sandlewood. Amazing score for the price. Leans masculine, but I can imagine a women wearing it, a very confident women.

The love child of 40 knots and Zefiro. Gorgeous.

A beautiful perfume that opens with spices, warmth that warms you in winter days. The spices remain there but fade for 1-2 hours, then the smell of wood appears with a delicate vanilla that creates a wonderful balance. Long lasting 8+h, excellent projection. The perfume is 9.5/10

Sometimes I think it's so good, sometimes I feel like seasoning spices, weird. Nonetheless, this is a very well-blended & nice perfume. Leaning masculine.
