There's something oddly edible about Epic Man, but not in the dessert-like way that people usually mean. The olibanum, myrrh, leather, castoreum, and spices create an almost savory richness. Despite how dense the note list looks, everything melts together into one seamless composition. To me, this is the epitome of a man's perfume. Yes, the performance is sub-par for Amouage, but it’s not “weak”.

The most wearable Amouage for men after Jubilation XXV? A pleasant green incense smell. Not challenging at all. Avg longevity but low for Amouage.

Just purchased a new bottle! After collecting at least 150 fragrances since my first purchase this has made an appearance again! Love it so much Tsar and VCPH influence mixed with Middle East flare Imperial leather soap on steroids!

As a 45 year old white guy....this stuff skews older and more middle eastern than I think I can comfortably pull off. It's good juice...but I feel like I'm wearing Olfactory Black-face.

New batches are indeed a bit weaker, i get 6 hours max, then a skin scent that stays long but doesnt project. Amouage need to make an extrait version, like they did for the womans version because this is still a good one that sells, but has performance issues

Epic man almost makes me mad because it’s one of my favorite smells ever in all of perfumery, but it lasts 3 hours.

This scent is the vast and monumental delirium of a feverish man walking across the steppe under the vastness of the night. The opening of this creature is a green, resinous, and relentless punch. It is the empire of frankincense marching hand in hand with pink pepper and cardamom, but drowned in a juniper berry oil that gives it a bitter, medicinal, almost icy aspect. The beginning smells of "ancient medicine," of "an alchemist's herbs." It is a perfume that tells man: "You are small before the immensity of the earth!" In Epic Man there is the solitude of a stone cathedral in winter and the fury of a pine forest that has never seen the sun. When the work seems to be complete, the transition to its dark heart arrives. There, the green vertigo transforms into an animalistic, smoky, and dense oud, but one that does not walk alone. It comes escorted by tanned, dry, heavy leather — like the boots of a soldier who has marched for miles in the mud — and by the pungent warmth of castoreum, that element that evokes the beast, the flesh, the sweat of human effort, and the primitive instinct that we try to hide under layers of civilization. On one side we have the scent of the absolute luxury of a mystical silk road, while on the other we find a sweaty, wild, and brutal smell. It is the paradox of the human being: angel and beast inhabiting the same emerald-green bottle. Then we arrive at the drydown, when the fever subsides and the delirium gives way to melancholy, Epic Man rests on a base of sandalwood, patchouli, and cedar, while the incense never leaves us. It remains until the last breath, like a prayer whispered by a sinner on his deathbed. Epic Man is not worn to please the world or for a chance encounter. This perfume is worn when one wants to carry one's own cross with dignity. It is opulent, it is tragic, it is green like the bile of envy and golden like the altars of the saints. It is an epic of dignity and power. Let whoever dares to wear such arrogance bear the weight of their own grandeur!

Love this it is a very classy well balanced scent profile. Found the opening nice uplifting fresh and classy. Nice dry down as the other notes come in and make a nice balance. One of my favourite fragrances Amouage may be pricey but make some amazing fragrances.

My go to this or Creed absolut Aventus One of my favorite Daily wears exquisite fragrance 10//10

The batch I have isn't too strong. Smoky, spicy, woody, green & resinous. This certainly has an animalic quality to it, but it's very pleasant. 8.5/10

I love this stuff but It's really weak on me. I get nose blindness from iso e super fairly often. Some fragrances more than others. This ghost me pretty quick similar to how DHI ghosts me every time. It would be such a treat to splurge on this and go through it in a month long cloudy haze binge of 30+ sprays a day until it's gone. It's a struggle trying to save this juice. Really bittersweet feelings about this. Kind of smells sad now. It's like a girl I love not loving me back. Or like she loved me and now hates me.

When wearing this I think of the forest, day spas, saunas, relaxation retreats. Opens up very aromatic and spicy. Herbal and green with a good amount of woods in the base. Not too much leather or oud. I find this very meditative and easy to wear although it is very strong and herbal/spicy the first hour. It dries down to a beautiful rainforest like soapy smell which i prefer over the opening and this lasts through the life of the fragrance. Very masculine and versatile. I think this could be pulled off in an office setting, casually or more formal occasions. Not sure about summer as I haven’t worn this in high heat. There isn’t really a fragrance I can think of that smells like this or evolves like this. But if you like things like Hacivat, oud wood or Santal 33 it may be worth sampling this one. Lasts and projects for 8+ hrs. My batch is a mid 2025 batch. Top 5 Amouage for me and one of the Chong era greats imo. 9/10

Shi smells like an arab taxi driving you in 40° C very old car with cheap leopard fur print on the seats. You slap the seat and a massive dust cloud arises bringing you the smell of epic man. Worst amouage ive smelled so far ts a grave sin

This is interesting and I don't know how they did it. In the opening, at first you get a spicy fresh pine smell. That pine smell is carried by the resins. So it gives you this fresh and dark smell. When this dry downs it moves towards a more cedar. The dry down, It smells like the new Dior Homme that is mainly cedar based. This is pine, cedar, resins, fresh, and this can be used year round. Very elegant.

I’m reviewing this fragrance from the perspective of the average person. While detailed scent breakdowns can be useful, not everyone relates to them. I’m more focused on how the fragrance comes across in real life, especially to someone experiencing it without any context. To help with that, I’ve included the opinion of a female friend. This is a subjective, experience-based review. Amouage Epic Man really drives home the idea that you get what you pay for. It’s a premium price, but the quality and impact back it up straight away. From the first spray, it feels rich and refined. There’s warmth and spice, but it stays clean and easy to wear. You get wood and leather at the core, but it doesn’t feel heavy or grounded, this is something bigger, more elevated. It gives off a sense of confidence and quiet wealth. There’s a bit of bite from the pepper early on, but it’s smoothed out nicely by the myrtle, cardamom, and caraway. The key thing is that it never feels over the top. It’s confident without being showy. Not a stiff suit and tie, more like a good tan, a nice watch, and all the time in the world. Calm, controlled, but hard to ignore. My friend liked it immediately, no hesitation. She said it smelled masculine and, in her words, “the kind of scent that gives a girl sparkles.” Performance is on another level compared to anything I’ve tried. It lasted over four hours on my skin in hot, windy, high-UV conditions and still held strong. The sillage is where it really stands out. It fills a space without trying and leaves a serious trail. My friend mentioned that even 15-20 minutes after I’d left, she could still clearly smell it in the corridor where we met, and even in a nearby staircase through a set of double doors I’d walked through to leave. Amouage Epic Man has quickly become my go-to for autumn and winter, and honestly, it could work year-round.

Epic Man I'd rate 3.9/5 This one is good but overrated. Largely and incense and wood profile, but I do see hints of cardamom, mace, and caraway. for the most part though, it smells of dry woods, myrrh, and frankincense. Good scent, but very linear profile and limited occasions for wear.

Compliments galore, is what I heard. Can anyone else verify this?

Bought, didn't like, left untouched for two years, tried again, loved it way too much. This thing became a spicy leathery bomb, it smells too good!! Beast mode as well.

Oh man.. i could write love letters to Amouage and Mrs. Hammami for this creation (beware of bias), so i choose to keep it as short as possible. Brightness in the depths of darkness. How they managed to blend and balance these notes to create this intriguing and exquisite feel of the scent is incredible and makes this scent a true work of art. Dark, smoky, green masculinity at its finest. Although many will find it harsh or dislike it, this will forever be one of my favourite smells of all time. The quality of the balsamic incense profile is unlike anything else i've come across. A random latin chick at the bar where i work as a bouncer told me that i smell like her grandmother's house (and she loved it). The bottle is absolutely gorgeous. The name suits the scent perfectly. An Epic masterpiece. 11/10.

Revisiting my sample of Epic Man. This is fantastic. A spicy, smoky, shimmering green powerhouse. Oud is definitely present but does not overpower any of the other notes, yet provides a strong woody base. I also really love the blending of the floral notes with the rest of the composition, the geranium and myrtle really stand out and provide depth. Epic contains a healthy dose of the signature Amouage incense/myrrh. Can't get enough of it. This is my second favorite Amouage fragrance. Absolutely recommended, 9/10.

I think Epic is the best description of this perfume. A masterpiece.

The drydown is by far the star of the show with this bottle. Holy smokes! I was kinda whatever on the initial spray, but the drydown is stellar. Woody, incense, resinous, clean, slightly soapy. very complex. I love this bottle. I was able to snag a tester on Joma for 169, and I have no regrets. Try a decant if you can.

Epic Man Amouage: The Clean, Heavy Leather Epic Man is exactly what it sounds like—a complex, heavy fragrance. For me, the standout notes are the leather and saffron. The saffron is paired perfectly with the leather, giving it a "shiny" and slightly sweet touch. Surprisingly, despite what you might expect from the notes, it isn't animalic at all. All those rough, funky facets have been polished away, which is a big plus. It’s a very layered scent that you really need to spend time with for it to grow on you. Because I’m not personally a big fan of the saffron note, it’s not a "must-have" for me, but it’s definitely worth a try for the complexity alone. Rating: 7/10

The incense, patchouli, cedar and sandalwood are most apparent to my nose. A barbershop Fougere with a Middle Eastern twist. Very versatile; good performance.

Not for me personally. The leatheryness is too intense for my nose, and it doesn't help that I'm a college student with not a lick of formal or leather clothing. Woody incense, leather, spice, and resins. Projection and Longevity on my bottle are ridiculous. I'd say long-lasting to eternal longevity and strong to enormous sillage. The smell is reminiscent of a pine tree in nature. You smell like a forest—not in some synthetic, aroma-chemical kind of manner but in a very photorealistic and unromanticized way. All the aspects of a forest are present: the woodiness, the bracken air, and the animalistic undertones. Unkempt, raw, and masterfully done, but not my style. I appreciate my bottle for its craftsmanship—the folks at Amouage know how to blend fragrances. It's my benchmark for quality, but the actual profile and character of the fragrance are not to my liking or persona. If you are an older (30+) gentleman with an air of opulence around you, buy a decant and wear it for a while, but I would exercise caution if you don't align with the given criteria. Anyways I'm selling my bottle, let me know if you'd be interested.

Amouage's "Epic Man is not your typical Fougere. Its a modern fougere done in classic fougere fashion. Epic Man opens extremely polarizing, with all of its notes hitting you at once. It smells dark green, green powdery, dark fresh, woody, smoky, medicinal, earthy, leathery, musky, balsamic, resinous, & spicy, with soft floral undertones, & its quite overwhelming. The spices are a beautiful mix of Green Cardamom, Pink Pepper, Nutmeg, & Saffron, with a note of Cumin that adds a mild savory balance which rounds out & dries the otherwise sweet spices into an amalgamation of powdery airy spices. Its important to note that this fragrances Woody note is Agarwood, not Oud. Its dark woody, mildly medicinal, & fungus-like earthy. Like smelling moldy wood & wet dirt. Theres a note of Patchouli enhancing the Agarwood by lending minty nuances to its medicinal nuances, & a green earthiness to it fungal soil-like nuances. Theres also a note of Castoreum here thats playing more than one role. The Castoreum is not only lending smoky nuances to the Agarwood, but Its also lending leathery nuances to the leathery nuances of the Saffron, which both then work to enhance the actual Leather note in this fragrance, making it smell of luxury black leather. The combination of Geranium, Myrtle, & Mace create a Floral/Herbal Green, Soapy/Spicy nuance thats present throughout the life of the fragrance. This floral/herbal green, soapy/spicy accord is rounded out with just a touch of Animalic Musk from the note of Castoreum. The notes of Myrrh & Olibanum ground, & round out this fragrance with Resinous, Balsamic, Spiced nuances. Theres times during wearing's where I swear I can smell Cinnamon, but I know its just the Myrrh playing tricks on my nose. The note list says theres a note of Incense in this fragrance, but dont distinctly smell a heady Incense, nor a smoky incense. However I do smell the light harmonious scent of Frankincense & Myrrh resins swirling within the woody smokiness of the Agarwood. The final dry down 12 hours later is a skin scent of woody sweet resinous spiced Sandalwood. Overall, Amouage's "Epic Man" is a beautiful modern take on a classic fougere that doesnt get enough praise in the Fragrance Community. Its undoubtedly masculine & will work in any setting where you want to smell like a man. However I feel like its best worn in Fall, Winter, & Spring, when the weather is cool or cold & the skies are overcast. Projection is beastly for the first couple of hours, but then it settles into being strong for several hours after. Which can still be too much for some people. It lasts on my skin well over 12 hours, & on clothes for days. Its important to note that my bottle was bought in 2011, so the performance & scent of my bottle vs todays reformulations will differ greatly. The bottles gradient green fading into black is a great depiction of what this fragrance smells like. I have no comparisons for the scent of "Epic Man", but there are times where it gives a nod in the direction of both Tom Ford's "Patchoilu Absosu", as well as Nasomotto's "Duro".
