Trouble

It’s as if the best parts of Addict and Classique EDP came together to form this serpentine capped red cuboid of my dreams.

Have you ever smelled ferns under sunlight? Ferns are not the ones who like sunshine, and tend to congregate in shady and moist areas, hiding under the old and broad trees canopy. But every now and again a family of ferns will turn up in the birch wood. Birches let plenty of sunlight through, especially when young, and this is when you can actually smell the ferns, - dusty, oily green, with a light wood note. This is the opening note of Boucheron's "Trouble" - ferns under the sun, sprinkled with lemon dew. So, where is trouble in that? As one is wading through the ferns, often reaching to the waist and above, it is nearly impossible to see what is underfoot. The soil is soft and always slightly moist under their broad "leaves" (ferns are not the leafy spices technically), the air above them is fresh, with a light soil tincture, making this blend of aromas rather pleasant and refreshing. And then comes a HISS. The world stills in a heartbeat, the body freezes in whatever position it was before that cold and rasping sound, silence falls all around, except the heartbeat in one's ears and throat: one, two, three, four... Fear rises in waves of indolic jasmine with every beat: five, six, seven, eight... Is the snake still there? And where "there" is? Is it an adder? A smooth viper, or just a terrified grass snake thinking itself even in more trouble than a human frozen in their steps? Is it going to attack? Has it attacked? Has it run away in a silky smooth, slithering motion?.. Nine, ten, eleven, twelve...jasmine grows heavier, almost burnt. Sunshine is blasting from the skies making one blind and hot, oh so hot... What was a rather fresh day is now filling in with heat and rich and resinous scent, adding to the jasmine-tasting fear and unconcerned herbal-woodiness of the darn ferns. Thirteen, fourteen, fifteen... People are saying something, but no sound makes it to one's ears, all senses are directed an the dark spot among the ancient plants where the Trouble is hiding in its invisible layer. Sixteen, seventeen eighteen, nineteen... Don't breathe, don't move, don't blink! Survival instinct roars in one's head, - Trouble! We are in Trouble! The woods move slowly with the breeze, spicing amber with their dry smiles at a silly human who dared to venture amongst them. Then the world shudders around you... It's your friend, shaking you awake and back to life, shouting that there is nothing in the ferns and even if there were it is long gone, as you've been standing like a frozen crane mid mating dance for good 5 minutes no less, and no viper is that patient to wait for one to attack. You blink, once, twice, let the breath out of the lungs and then back in... It is still hot, the swirls of dry amber and jasmine are still permeating the air, the ferns are giving out the dusty-green vapours, soured with a persistent lemon note, sun is shining and the forest's voices are back in their cacophonous choir. Trouble, where is the Trouble?! Was there one to start with at all? Only the trees and ferns know the answer, but they are still laughing and swaying in the wind.

I just received this perfume today, and even though it's a vintage scent, it's completely new to me. It doesn’t smell like Organza, Addict, The One, or Princess at all—not even close. I’m actually glad it doesn’t! It’s a truly unique, sweet gourmand fragrance that stands out on its own. I’m so excited to have the 100ml bottle and plan to treasure it.

Although these notes should work for me, the scent as a whole does not at all. Smells very musty and "old attic." I get no citrus... no vanilla. Will donate my sample to a friend.

I scored 1.6 Bottle of EDP and a mini in a red, velvet box with a tassle for 80 bucks. I just sprayed it for a first time and there is definetely a vintage feel to it, but no aldehydes. It is good. It smells exactly the way bottle looks, and i perceive it as red and sexy. Name suits it. I don't really get Addict from it, but they are in the same category. Trouble is hot. If you are into perfume as an artistry, look for Trouble while you can find it:)

Trouble is iconic. They couldn't have made a more suitable bottle for this indulgent perfume; the rich tone of dark, devious burgundy, crowned with a gold serpentine cap, then finished with an embedded emerald. The 30ml bottle is interesting - it's not the squared bottle as shown... it's shaped quite like a dagger, and I feel rather mischievous holding it in my hand to spray it on. It's like I could put it right through someone's heart, which is how it smells: contemplative, dangerous, provocative. Yes, serpentine... it smells serpentine. Trouble is a lady in the dark slowly slipping off her velvet gloves and dress, the way a snake sheds its skin. Who knew such simplicity in the notes profile could evoke something so powerfully mysterious? Heavy vanilla amber base, sensual jasmine, and citrus (and then some); that's all it takes when a master perfumer is at play. Honestly one of the smoothest and sexiest scents I own, a true favorite, and a crime to have been discontinued. It lasts forever, projects madly. Makes me feel like a seductress with secrets.

Reve d'Anthala Evody Parfums is INSANELY similar to the subject here, to such extent, it evokes distant memories associated with trouble. i had my time to think over whether it may be just me tripping or is about a genuine, fairly objective, perception. its the latter, otherwise i wont be making such statement, and im really vulnerable to scents. if one still misses trouble, may, with a bit of luck, find a sample of what i mentioned above.

My mom gave me the last bit in her bottle of the original formulation (snake cap) and it’s BEAST MODE. Put 3 tiny sprays on this morning at 5am and still getting wafts almost 9 hours later. It does remind me of Dior Addict but I like this better. Thick, rich, warm ambery vanilla and jasmine with a sweet lemon top note and a soft cola spice in the dry down. It’s heavenly. They don’t make perfumes like this anymore.

This is like a diet version of Dior Addict .. fresh and citrusy enough to wear in summer, if you're a vanilla-in-warm- weather type of person. It's a lemon cupcake with a bit of floral/jasmine to keep it from being a bakery, gourmand scent. I can definitely see the comparison to YSL Cinema, another gorgeous vanilla, I would grab that if you don't want to pay current eBay prices for this. I didn't know this was discontinued, glad I have a little 5ml splash I'll have to savor!

The pyramid here on Fragrantica is missing the vanilla note - one of the most well-done vanillas in the whole world to be honest. This perfume is all about vanilla. Period.

Landing a decent creamy lemonpeel on a fluffy vanillacloud, with the warmth and delicacy of a soft skinned mothers cleavage, the way you felt asleep as a baby in her arms. This is my feeling about this treasure. Found the sister of it in Pure XS of Pacco Rabbane. But she was having lots of hazelnuts in her embrace.

I have a nearly full bottle that I bought at Parfumerie Nastreen ten (?) years ago. I neglected it because it is so strong on me and only just this morning revived it. I sprayed a few pumps into a Kleenex and was surprised to see that the perfume was tinted a brownish pink. I have no idea what that could mean. I think I would like this better if it came out of the bottle in a more diffuse spray instead of a concentrated squirt. I'd be better able to control its strength.

Wearing this today, and I have to say it's very similar to Armani Sensi. The notes listed are different, but to my untrained nose it's the vibe I've been getting all day. Looked up Sensi, and it's the same perfumer. Makes all the sense, lol!

So happy I still have my bottle from way back in the day. Doesn’t look to be commercially available anymore. This is such a deep, sophisticated amber vanilla (baffled that it’s not listed as a note) that is great for cold weather. The sillage is fantastic, the longevity is strong, (especially in your hair)…and the scent journey it takes you on is amazing! Starts citrusy/floral, then into a beautiful vanilla jasmine, and dries into a lovely musky amber. Definitely gonna savour this bottle I have as I am unsure I will be able to find it again if I run out.

So I have this and it definitely reminds me of a few things that aren’t listed here as being similar which I don’t understand at all. This, D&G The One, VW Boudoir, and Givenchy Organza could all be extremely similar flankers of each others. They’re all sweet light bubblegummy scents, to my nose extremely similar. I’m glad I got this years ago cheap because now I know how it smells I’ll never buy it or Boudoir again (pricey.) Organza and The One smell exactly like it to me!

DAMN IT BOUCHERON!! BRING THIS BACK!!! I love this fragrance. I was in Paris the first time I smelled this and it was love at first sniff. I bought a bottle and went through the whole thing, a near miracle for me. Had I know back then it would be discontinued I would have back stocked it. Now it is ridiculous expensive on eBay. I emailed Boucheron and they confirmed they do not have any current plans to re-release it :-( Oh Trouble, how I miss you! UPDATE: I absolutely disagree that this smells like The One. I have both and on my skin they smell nothing alike but I guess everyone's chemistry is different. I did just get a fragrance in the mail that reminds me very much of Trouble and that is D&G La Temperance. I looked at the notes here and they aren't similar but on my skin they smell very close. You can get the fragrances in the Anthology line very reasonably so I don't feel guilty spray myself generously with this one.

Another high quality offering from Boucheron & J.Cavallier is *TROUBLE*, this I own in 15 ml. parfum/extrait concentration, the dry-down is quite linear after the opening of a tart citrus combo followed with a white/yellow floral middle plus base notes of sandalwood (not listed), ambre & white musk underscored by a still detectable watery jasmine/jonquil accord, most unusual indeed, in fact I would say this fragrance is intriguing to be honest, I find nothing troubling here I like, although not a fave, while the ruby red flacon with a matte gold, emerald eyed serpentine dauber/cap is simple yet elegant and came with it's own black silken atomizer bulb, tres' chic & so very BOUCHERON... high quality materials + low key sophistication = GLAMOUR...

Trouble is one of the most decadent fragrances I own. I would describe it as oriental gourmand. It's sweet, but not too sweet. It's as classy as it is delicious. It has a perfect balance of citrus, vanilla and amber which is hard to achieve. Floral notes are in the background, as the supporting act. I wear Trouble when I want decadence without overly sticky sweetness and warmth without too much spice. It comes close to Venice by Yves Rocher which is another love. And I can definitely see some likeness to Cinema by YSL. But I find it unique enough to own a full bottle and greedily spray whenever I crave that delicious combination of its notes.

I swear this smells just like D&G The One... I can’t believe how much this going for now! This, the one, organza and boudoir are interchangeable to me. Light vanilla bubblegum florals.

Trouble is a floral amber that is book-ended by edibles - candied/jammy citrus in the opening, and syrupy cocoa in the dry down. Although chocolate is not listed as a note, the vanilla and jasmine are so concentrated that they create a gourmand-y cocoa vibe. Wooden tones support the composition (less like the moldy cedar chests of late, more like the refined wood of an antique sitar). Trouble should be included on any 'best of vanilla' list. Perhaps it is overlooked because Trouble avoids the excesses of its counterparts and instead expresses itself in terms of allure, restraint, and the anticipation of compliance. There's nothing overt about Trouble, and therein lies its power.

This smells like a combination of Dior Addict and YSL Cinema to me. I wonder if layering the two might create something that resembles this fragrance. I'll have to try it.

That was one of my Holy Grail fragrances - I'm crushed that it has been discontinued. I still lift the cap of my empty bottle to catch a whiff occasionally. AMAZING. Dark, sexy, mysterious, feminine in the extreme. Boucheron, bring it back!!!

Dior Addict + YSL Cinema. A Jasmine, Amber and Citrus bomb. Definitely some Vanilla Note as well! Sensual, sexy and unique at the same time. This fragrance should be released under a different name again. I love the juice but it doesnt feel superbe leaving the house after I sprayed TROUBLE on my skin...

What a lost gem this is. It's so sensual yet dignified and wears nicely on skin. Trouble is a lot of heady amber and lemon, with some woody-herbal-floral accents. I agree very much with the reviewer below who compared Trouble to Dior Addict. They definitely have a similar heady sexiness and almost velour-like texture to them. I love the name and the deliciously vampy bottle, which is charmingly dated in an early 2000s femme-fatale kind of way. Trouble is a gorgeous fragrance and it's an absolute shame that it's discontinued.

Beautiful! What gorgeous smooth creamy luscious amber! Oh my lord it's wonderful! So comforting, and calming. Absolutely yummy! Golden, honeyed, dark, thick and delicious! Lemony too. Warm and flowery and sweet vanilla. So sweet and irresistible! Very exotic, and extremely soft and slightly incensey - just fabulous!
