Very pretty woody fragrance. Calming and soothing. Very safe for CDG. I agree with a reviewer below I smell mostly sandalwood, most likely javanol.

Анонім★★★★★

I'm not versed in Men's perfumery, but this is simply an authentic debonair...

Анонім★★★★★

This is built around javanol. Niche dna and wearable only if you have a taste for unconventional fragrances, imo.

I first sprayed Wonderwood on paper, and it was like a pepper-bomb. I could smell nothing else. Eventually, something I liked emerged, though it remained really peppery. I was so curious whether it would pull woodier on skin. On me, the first adjective that came to mind was 'zesty.' It has such a clean feeling to it― like the feeling right after you brush your teeth, or when you go to the dentist for a professional teeth cleaning. It has a crispness. It evokes the image of an ironed white button down or a glass of ice cold water with lemon. It's more fresh than what I usually gravitate toward, but there's something there that really works for me. Overall, it's nice, and while it's still peppery (less so on skin than paper), I think the pepper keeps it interesting and less linear than some woody fragrances.

First of all, I love Comme des Garcons. If you can still call it niche perfume (and I think you definitely can), quite a few of their perfumes was the first niche perfumes I ever bought. 2, Kyoto and Amazingreen will always be considered classics for me. Kicking in open doors. However, not actually having tried Wonderwood until now. Wow, 16 years too late. I never thought of Comme des Garcons as making flankers. Until now. And I know that is totally wrong, because this came before Black, or Blackpepper and Max Richter. Still. This is my anachronistic impression. The cypress from Kyoto, and the black pepper from Black, the incense from Avignon... it's like a medley of previous experiences. It is however very good. There was much more incense than I would have guessed. The sandalwood makes it smooth, the cedar and the cypress makes it somewhat aromatic and fresh, but still... the main focus is unsurprisingly woody. Pepper. Incense. I like Kyoto a bit better. But it's all a matter of personal preference.

When I first tried this (at the beginning of my journey into perfume), I had such an immediate reaction to it. I was instantly transported back to the scent of my grandmother's perfume from when I was a child. At the same time, it opens as an incensey woody fragrance, with a strong peppery note right from the start. Incense and pepper are notes I can struggle with, especially back then. But the memory surpassed any issues I had with the scent. I recently asked my grandmother what perfume she wore while I was growing up. It couldn't have been this, unless she's been traveling through time on the side. If that's the case, we have a lot of things to discuss.

Third review - bought this from luckyscent and it last days on my clothes great projection, can smell it on my jacket standing 2 meters away. So i saw a shop in Chicago named notre had it on sale for $130 and bought 2 bottles, same batch number as the luckyscent bottle, same box same everything but, disappears in minutes. Have to bury my nose in it and even then its barely noticeable

I love love this! I’m on my third bottle over the years. It’s probably one I will always have in my collection. It’s an easy reach for any occasion though not what I use for date nights or special events. It’s great for office. The blend is lovely. It’s a creamy, slightly sweet take on the best aromatic woods in my opinion: cedar, oud, sandalwood, vetiver. It’s not sharp or screechy like some of these wood notes can be. To me, it’s the sensual soft aspect of each. It doesn’t last long on my skin or maybe my nose just gets used to it quickly. But it really lingers on clothes in the best way. Sometimes I just spray this in my closet. It’s a delight to catch a whiff of it when I get dressed.

I find this fragrance to be okay. It opens fresh and woody, like a fragrant forest and freshly cut wood. It pretty quickly evolves into a different smell, still woody, but more resinous and the incense really starts to come through - specifically the note is undoubtedly white sage. And this might be a controversial note to some people. If you've ever burnt white sage, it smells much like that. The smell of white sage burning is herbal and musky, I find it to be kind of similar to the smell of body odour. It's definitely an interesting smell - it reads kind of like "this is my natural body odour and it happens to smell pretty nice". I would wear this fragrance, if it wasn't for the fact that the projection is really poor and so is the longevity. I applied 3 sprays, my partner said the smell wasnt very noticeable so i applied 2 more, an hour later I applied 2 more and within the hour the smell was again not really detectable unless you were directly smelling me. For the price, you shouldn't have to reapply hourly. It's a pass for me.

This was a total blind buy for me. I have to admit that at first spray I thought it was way too dry and leaned a bit too masculine for my usual taste. But I am so glad I gave it time, because I learned to love it! Once it settles on my skin, it feels like the scent warms up. As someone who spends a lot of time outdoors and in nature, I can honestly say this smells like a forest to me. If you try it, give it a chance to develop on your skin.

The first perfume I owned. I got it for my birthday in 2012, I think. I still like it, but don't reach for it as often. A bottle lasts long for me, as the smell stays on my skin a long time (and on my clothes even longer). Smells like wood, but not in a forest walk kind of way, because it's clearly synthetic. I love synthetic smells, so maybe this is what attracts me to it, and gives it a complexity beyond just, you know, wood. When I wear it, people always comment on it ('it smells like wood in here'), so I think the projection on me is better than on others. Clearly a fall or winter perfume, but I actually like to wear it on a summer's night.

Wonderwood smells like freshly cut, sappy wood, almost like a high-end pine body wash. It opens resinous and smooth, then settles into a soft, warm stone-like wood that feels slightly creamy and never scratchy. It leans unisex. The pine can read a bit masculine at first, but it dries down balanced and wearable. If you usually go for very feminine scents like fruity body sprays or marshmallow notes, this is still an easy entry into woods. After about an hour and a half it sits just above a skin scent. It lasts through the day without being loud. You can respray for more presence, but it stays close and won’t overwhelm. If woody fragrances tend to feel harsh or headache-inducing to you, this is a good one to try.

I remember this was one of the first fragrances that i truly liked when i started buying fragrances. I finally bought it after 5 years and still like it a lot. Woods and pepper is what you get the most and it's done beautifuly. Performance is better than what i initally tought, not part of the strong ones but it's decent if you apply enough, at least more than on paper. I think this fragrance also suits somebody that doesn't want to walk in a room screaming please people smell my fragrance and blow me up with compliments, it's sophisticated but not on based on the composition of the fragrance as it's pretty linear, but idk it gives me at least a little mysterious feeling.

Анонім★★★★★

Based on the notes, Wonderwood would be everyting I love, except...it turns like soap on me and then magically disappears. I do not think this is typical voor Comme des Garçons. "Black" is a powerhouse on me, one of my favorites of all time- and lasts + 12 hours, being "just" an EdT.

Анонім★★★★★

Feels like living in the Pacific Northwest. Driving an old Chevy Silverado. I like it Low longevity. 9/10

Анонім★★★★★

This is the kind of purist style frag I would've been obsessed with in 2010s. But now it feels dated and overdone. Still classy, but nothing exciting.

All noses are different. So let me share how I feel about this scent. GROSS. It smells like you've been locked up in an elevator with a lot of people who haven't showered for ages. Inside that lift, everyone's armpit is shoved on your face. Worse than a stinky wet dog. I just couldn't recover from it. After a single spray and experienced how it performed, I chucked it quickly in the bin and pretended that I just lost my money in a horse race.

Анонім★★★★★

Javanol overdose in the drydown. The opening is nice for about a hour. Javanol reminds me of wet dog smell.

Анонім★★★★★

I will never forget the sample of this I got about 10-12 years ago for free, there’s truly nothing else like it, I’d live in the stuff if I could afford it.

Анонім★★★★★

Among sandalwood&cedar pairings, this is the one that speaks to me most. Creamy, soft, and composed, it evokes a calm assembly of dry woods; never sharp, never lumber-like. The incense and spices remain understated, almost contemplative, allowing the woody core to breathe and unfold at its own pace. The result is serene and grounding, like sitting in stillness with yourself. A scent made for retreating inward, for moments of quiet focus and gentle introspection. Tag(s): ultimate woody, creamy, calming, incense-y

Анонім★★★★★

Pleasant woody scent. Airy and light. Good for office or out and about. More airy and molecular than Tam Dao. Linear

Анонім★★★★★

Wonderouds slightly more conventional brother. If you are looking for a safe straight forward wood scent definitely try this. I’d say this is way more masculine than unisex. Longevity really flakes out after 5+ hours, there isn’t much of a change once it settles down either, it’s a bit boring.

Анонім★★★★★

From sample of Wonderwood. Longevity is moderate and low sillage. Smells very dry woody (no surprise) and peppery. Does not really transform much over time maybe the patchouli shows up a bit in a base. Nice masculine scent a little screechy though. IMO Wonderoud from CDG is much more interesting option with better performance.

Анонім★★★★★

i really like its kind of burned woody smell with bursts of sandal and overall mild spicy vibe. the longevity seems too weak for me. i can’t really feel it after three hours on my skin but i have only tried it home so maybe it works better in different microclimates

Анонім★★★★★

Perfume smells great, but I could never justify a full bottle with how bad the performance is.

Анонім★★★★★

In summary, Wonderwood is a beautiful perfume with a captivating aroma, but its significant drawbacks in sillage and longevity make it hard to fully recommend. It is a very weak scent that does not last. It smells fantastic, but the projection and staying power are very poor.

Анонім★★★★★

Really love this fragrance, I bought the CDG discovery set since I am into woody scents lately and was curious about other ones too. I COULD have bought a full bottle, notes- wise and the smell-wise. It smells GOREOUS. But I am soooooo glad I kept my euro’s in my pocket, because this fragrance is gone in less then a few minutes. What a shame. Why am I not one of the lucky ones who claim this fragrance lasts for hours and hours … Because it is elegant, comforting, special, perfectly unisex, a most wonderful wood scent. But on me, only for the time of one breath. BOOOOOHOOOOO

Анонім★★★★★

I have had this in my collection for years. It just sits on a shelf in my bathroom and is never used. I bought it at least 10-15 years ago when I was more obsessed with incense/woody fragrances, which I first became aware of at a party on Santa Monica Bl. in 2008 when I walked by a man wearing Kyoto. Today I sprayed Wonderwood again, giving it a chance, and it has opened up. It is more soft and surprising than I remember it, when I associated it with an overbearing wood smell. It has a modern smell, not 2010 at all, with notes of wood balanced by other synthetic and softly oud-ish notes. There used to be this high fashion store in LA called Opening Ceremony on LaCienega. You would enter through an outdoor, garden passageway of an older building, the walkway strewn with leaves, and enter this low-ceilinged store with a series of rooms that featured expensive, avant-garde clothes for men, women and others. The staff, dressed in whatever was popular along the Canal St. Martin that week, was unsmiling and self-regarding and they walked around the rooms bored out of their minds, ignoring you, as they thought of nothing but closing time. The front table at the entrance had the Comme des Garcons collections of perfumes, and everything was in that half-joking, ironic, cool bottling, and Wonderwood was on that table. I think at the time most were priced between zero and $80-$120 a bottle. Nobody who worked there worked to sell the fragrances, unlike department stores where the sprayers will attack you with spraying even as you stand at the urinal peeing. I guess I enjoyed the inattention of the sales associates. Opening Ceremony closed down. I don't know what they did with all their inventory, the $500 vinyl sweatshirts, the $250 pink boxers with holes artfully torn in the crotch. All of that is gone, but Comme des Garcons is still selling somewhere, and I have a bottle that reminds me of that weird time window shopping for things I couldn't afford, and one bottle I could.

Simply one of the best wooden perfumes so far. Mature, elegant, serious and perfect for a rainy autumn. Spicy and woody notes are well-blended and stay with you for a decent amount of time. Reminds me of another masterpiece - Encre Noir, but more warm and performance is way better
