Viking Cologne

Big fan of the OG, but didn't like this when I first sampled it. I'm glad I gave it another shot, because this is a pretty solid, office-safe, summer version of the OG. It's still that cooling, barbershop scent, but has a fresher, airy quality to it. The opening is kind of weird, like the zest of an orange peel, but it gets to the good part quick. Doesn't seem to last as long as Aventus Cologne, but I'm also dealing with the sampler's atomizer vs the Creed manufacturer's here. Not sure if I'll get the full bottle of this, but I will definitely finish the 5ml sample.

The initial opening is a spicy and tart citrus scent with undertones of herbal notes. 15 Min - I am starting to pick up on the Lavender note which is providing a clean freshness to the scent profile. 30 Min - The fragrance is transitioning towards a pungent floral scent profile with undertones of spice and citrus. 60 Min - I am still getting a pungent floral scent with a dry woody undertone. Dry Down - The potentcy of the florals has settled down significantly and I am getting a woody scent profile with a slightly resinous undertone. Performance: Projection of this fragrance is OK with the frangrance creating a scent bubble of about 2 feet for almost 2 hours. The sillage is also OK with a scent trail of about 2+ feet for about 2 hours as well. Longevity on my skin is OK with the fragrance lasting on my skin about 5 to 6 hours, and becoming a skin scent at about 2+ hours. My rating on this fragrance is a 7 out of 10.

Oooh this is good, really really good. I wrote a review for the OG Viking and though my liking for even that one has grown more and more over the last few weeks, I think Viking Cologne is a better one. One point I’d like to make is that the OG Viking smells like a “perfume” from a niche house, well blended fougere DNA very fancy premium masculine stuff, but if we talk about actual wearability, Viking Cologne truly wins. This shit smells like what Tony Soprano wears with like his black and brown boss outfits and that gold Rolex daydate watch with a forever intimidating expression, always reminding everyone “I’m the fuckin boss, i run this shit”. Very very masculine. As for the scent itself, it’s kinda fresh, like not proper fresh, but think a very mature natural bitter orange, zero sweetness no nonsense. Smells insanely premium. That bitterness is provided by that fougere DNA, but it never lets the fragrance ever lean into a proper fougere. It’s incredibly well blended and especially if you’re a fougere lover like me, from a perfume standpoint you’d be in heaven if you smell this. Smells absolutely gorgeous 10/10, one of the most versatile fragrances out there. Longevity i get 7-8 hours I can’t complain tbh it’s still above what many other Creeds perform. If you’re not into fougeres still give this a try, it’s very natural non-sweet citrusy, fair chance you might like it if ykwim.

This could have been the best summer fragrance ever if it was longer lasting and projected more; it's inoffensive, timeless, smells pure but it's weak, it gives me 5 hours longevity at best & the projection is weak, it's a good 6/10.

After owning a bottle for over a year, do I regret buying it? no. I think it's time for a review a masculine citrusy spicy cologne style, Creed high quality yes you'll need a few sprays as it's light, it does last on clothes over 6 hours, never got a compliment but makes me feel confident, I wear on errands, dates, summer winter, very versatile, if you're looking for an easy wear from creed not from the Aventus family I would say give this a sample, very underhyped you barely see anyone mention this on youtube ect. But I'm not gatekeeping and recommend. just my opinion.

This is just a stripped down, less vanillic, less leathery, lesser performing and honestly less interesting version of Coach Platinum. And when you look at the price of both, there can only be one winner. Creeds gotta be the most overrated and overpriced house 🤯

Just got this today, I traded my PDM Galloway for this. This is definelty giving barbershop vibes. Im pretty sure that Jean Lowe Immortal is a dupe of this and not L'immensite, but all of the three are very very similiar together and also the Jean Lowe is so good quality and much more stronger than Viking and L'immensite and only a fraction of the price. But if you got the money, definetly get L'immensite over this based on performance. Overall this is a good scent, I maybe get 4-5h longevity, which is fine for me. It is spicy but so well put together and you definetly smell the quality in this. Entirety of this scent is very good. Oldschool, masculine, spicy, little sweet and airy. Definetly summer scent in my opinion. It's like you just finished haircut and the barber sprays this type of scent on you before taking the cloth off of you 😮💨 Scent: 8/10 Versatility: 7/10 Performance: 6/10

Fucking amazing... the mandarin and lavender combo is so addicting to me, it lasts for about 4 hours then becomes a skin scent, but what I love about it is the fact that the dry down still gives me that woody orange scent I love. As a man, I wanna smell like oranges.

Great scent profile, similar to TDH, but the issue with this fragrance is for the price point it's performance is pretty bad, both in projection and longevity, otherwise I would rate it a love.

Added this to my collection today - smells amazing, masculine summer scent. Fucking shocking performance, give up with Creed lately, genuinely better off buying the dupes that smell 90% the same for a fraction of the cost. Sort it out creed

This smells like an extremely well-blended and refined eau de cologne. And there is truth in advertising: you are buying something beautiful, manly, well-thought-out, but incredibly fleeting and non-projecting. The QpR is abysmal, which is a shame. I really wanted something mandarine-y, lavender, and spicy/flinty/woody that lasted. I am not getting it here. I wanted to love it, and even though scent-wise I do, performance ruins the overall experience for me. ASTEN tried to "reproduce" the overall idea with "Victory" (not in the database at the time of this review), dialling up the mandarin/spicy character, and does a very good job at that for a very low-priced fragrance.

i was finally able to get my hands on viking cologne after almost a year of having it on my wishlist. for anyone that owns and wears the original viking, it has that similar spice profile as viking, but is creamier and aquatic-leaning. like many reviewers have said this definitely seems more youthful and also seems very appropriate for warm-weather wear. it really does smell like a proper cologne as the name implies, that is very masculine in nature as is the case with the original viking. although i am satisfied with the purchase so far, it does seem to miss that similar luster and spark of the original viking when i spray that on, but i will be looking forward to wearing this out in the coming months regardless.

Honest take. Viking Cologne smells like part Fast Orange automotive hand cleaner, part Lacoste Essential Sport. Usual high quality Creed blending up top, but the scent itself screams cheap designer at best, citrus floor cleaner at worst. The drydown gives me generic 90’s dude bro locker room vibes. The original Viking is vastly superior. Not a fan of this.

Underrated. A must for any fougere lover <3 A beautiful light fougere based on Viking DNS. They managed to put a twist on it that made it better than the OG... Imo. As time goes by, it slowly replaces all fougères back in my collection. One of the best Creeds ever.

Did not intent to love this, but I do. Based on its structure, I shouldn’t, but with every wear, I do. A summer guilty pleasure.

This is still my favorite from Creed and it's also the fragrance that seems to get me more compliments than most of my collection. I have a pretty large collection, so to me, that's really saying a lot, and I don't overspray (a few sprays to the neck and one on each hand). It lasts forever on my skin, and again, I'm habitually an undersprayer. I love how fresh-woody-spicy it is, and how there's a musky scent in the dry down that's absolutely gorgeous. Personally, I feel like this is the most underrated from the house. I love Original Santal, Dephinus, and SMW as well, but this will always be my favorite.

I own a ton of niche fragrances and got my nose on in the 1000s! This must be the weakest ish i have ever smellt for this price! 2 hours and it gone. Like dead💀 even on clothes nah. And i dont really care about performance, but this is sad. This is way i dont f with creed

Very nice fresh citrusy floor cleaner type of smell. Done in a upper class quality slightly modern cologne. The color fits It perfectly.

One of my favorites from Creed. Very fresh and citrusy but masculine and mature. Definitely something I could see someone 30+ years old wearing. Similar to my other Creeds, I get plenty of longevity (5+ hours easily) on skin. On clothes, it lasts days.

#21 on my Fragrance Review Journey Creed Viking is what Chuck Norris smelled like when he fought Bruce Lee in The Return of The Dragon. Creed Viking Cologne is what Chuck Norris smells like after a shower and comfortably on his sofa reading his favorite book. Creed Viking is the major battle. Creed Viking Cologne is the skirmish leading up to the major battle. After much back and forth, I finally pulled the trigger and on a full bottle of Viking Cologne. You can find pricing for $150 and lower through reputable discounters. I see the comparisons to TDH; however, my nose says they are not similar. Viking Cologne opens up with a realistic and gritty orange note. TDH is much more subtle. Viking Cologne continues its grittiness by introducing the toned-down spices from the OG, and for the next 3 hours I get an uplifting spiced orange vibe. Hours 3-5 I saw the orange note become much more subtle but still there. For the last 3 hours the scent remained on my skin, it became a quintessential barber scent. It reminded me of those times when your barber hits you with the brush, powder, and/or spray before releasing you from the chair. That fresh smells that says you are clean. With properly hydrated skin I was able to squeeze 8 hours out of this fragrance. I am in the Mid-West testing this in January. Though I am mostly in temperature-controlled areas, I can't wait to see how this fragrance blossoms in Spring and Summer. I would encourage a sample or decant versus blind buying. This is not a TDH replica. This is Creed DNA for sure. I am completely happy with my purchase. 8.5/10

this one sucks. the original viking is just so much better.

Yes it has an older vibe to it, but I think of this as a modernized version of a classic feel. Sorry it doesn't smell like old spice IMO but to me it gives off TDH vibes but MUCH higher quality and superior smelling. I'm not usually into this scent profile but I must say this is fantastic. I just got a sample and I am loving it. My only issue with it is the longevity is pretty bad and only really projects for the first 30 mins. That being said, if you balk at the price (and longevity), Alexandria fragrances has an awesome clone (not listed on this site, sigh) that's called Seven Seas cologne (not seven seas which is a clone of the OG, and which I haven't tried). SS cologne and Viking cologne are very similar, basically 95%, I tested both side by side, and SS cologne has MUCH better longevity and performance without sacrificing the scent profile.

Very close to terre de hermès ! Frankly I prefer terre de hermès to Viking cologne 🤔 it's not a very impressive cologne for me! Sorry guys 🙏

This was a blind buy and honestly didn't expect much of it, but man, wow! I love it! To me, much more enjoyable than the original Viking (which is nice, but a bit too basic/familiar). This smells amazing, very vibrant and uplifting. I wasn't expecting to be this excited about a freshie, but i can't wait to rock this in spring/summer. I agree that it's not worth the retail price, but thankfully you can find it cheaper at a lot of places.

This fragrance is for wet and windy days wearing your barber jacket and going out for a drive. A full time winter fragrance that reminds me of traditional men’s after shave but with much more complexity. When I first purchased this it didn’t have longevity and was not very strong. Over 2 years though it has steeped into one of my favourite winter scents. It will now last well over 7 hours. I wouldn’t buy this again though as I just don’t use it enough to warrant the price tag.

Against Viking, this comes off way more soapy to me, like complimentary hotel soap. I'm not sure why maybe it is just the dilution. Otherwise it is just a weaker, soapier Viking - which is fine - considering the longevity of both is fairly poor (and this even worse) that's... not great. Especially when the price isn't even that much better. It's not bad, but sadly I think it's not worth the purchase against Viking considering pricing. I find the scent even dries down to just citrusy soapy, none of the spicy and creamy flair of base Viking. It's not a bad smell, but comparatively... not the best. 6/10 - try a sample of both Viking and Viking Cologne and draw your own conclusion. Don't blind.

I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed this one. For Viking and Viking Cologne I must say that both really do suck in terms of longevity but the projection when it does perform within a 3 maybe 4 hour period. For a scent like this I want Aventus type longevity and projection. The cologne being the more lighter part is definitely more modern and really a successor to Aventus I must say. Viking is deeper with more spices the cologne is more watery aquatic kinda like Bvlgari Avqa Amara, I can see the TDH comparison but it’s just the citrus which honestly is done better in the cologne vs TDH where I get a cleaning product vibe now I do still get a slight pine sol vibe with this but I think it’s noticeable. Nonetheless a great scent poor performance overall.

This straight away reminded me of Terre d'Hermes EDT because of its citrus, vetiver and woody notes. Really elegant, fresh stuff--certainly lighter and fresher than TDH (not as "dirty" or earthy), and more fougerey because of its flowery notes, but within the same profile. I get why some people say it smells like toilet bowl cleaner: the lemon notes can be a bit too bright, but at least in my batch they're not overpowering, and they're well balanced with the lavender, rosemary, cedar and vetiver. I'll see how the fragance matures with time. Being a cologne, performance is weak--I get 2-3 hours tops. Gotta overspray quite a bit for it to last longer. Thing is the price. I got a 100 ml bottle for $225 USD. Even discounted like that (I believe MSRP is over $400), I don't think the price is worth it. If it was $100-110, it would be perfect. But, I mean, you can get a 100 ml bottle of TDH for $75, so... yeah. I really enjoy it, but, for the price, there's a bunch of other really good options.
