Star Anise ginger and licorice has a very distinct, spicy scent, like a toothpaste.

I was pretty meh on this until I tried it in the hot heat of summer- I gotta say it’s intoxicating in the heat! I will no longer see this as a cold weather scent and make it one of my summer staples!

Анонім

The scent is unusual and quite intense at first, but it softens and opens up after a while

Анонім

I thought the scent was okay. If you don't like licorice or anis scent this perfume is not for you. I think the bottle design is cute but since it has to lay down flat it takes up a lot of space, so keep in this in mind if you only have a small perfume storage space!

Анонім

not polarizing or crazy at all to me... not super sweet either. it's soft spicy, floraly and little vanilla. smells kinda generic to me tbh. honestly wish it was more spicy

Анонім

i tried this at the store today and at first it was disturbingly sweet but after like an hour it started to smell amazing

Анонім

Holyyyy one of my fave perfumes ever. It smells so addicting, sweet, unique and soft!! Can tend to be a bit cloying if you put too much. I only had small bits of it left because i got it from my friend so i wansnt able to truly put it to the test. It smells like vanilla and liqourice in the best way possible. Longevity wasn't great and it isn't for daily use in my opinion. The scent is still just so good it overcomes everything else, would buy if it was available

Анонім

I like Loverdose, it’s mysterious and has enough licorice to make me crave it. But I could go wayyy saltier, I think this kinda smells like violet candy as well. It’s really nice, but I want something that smells like pure salty licorice only. The bottle is gorgeous 💜🖤

Анонім

If you ever had ouzo or rakı before, imagine it mixed with some florals and haribo licorice candy. I don't know if I like this as a perfume, but I appreciate it as an original sensory experience for my nose.

A bitchy girl keeps bumping into you at the nightclub, she's spilling her drink all over you and bad mouthing you to her friends, yet you're kind of in love with her.. This is what she's wearing.

I love this lady. So glad i just picked up a big 75ml new bottle today. If you do not know her yet, let me help you. She's absolutely fun & delicious. let it sit 10 minutes and your skin will smell literally like the sugar burnt crust of any creme brulee, but elegantly. Just pure sugar burnt slightly caramelized with licorice. She's high end pastry with a kick. Vanilla forward perfume with a trail of anise. She's magnetic and mysterious. Slightly goth in a way. Edgy fragrance not your usal common, boring vanilla composition. But all the ingredients are not overpowering at all, they are light airy and sweet with a twist. She has a great drydown. I love her still. The bottle like a love potion is alone, a masterpiece. Oldie but Goldie from 15 years ago ⭐️✨️ Thank God they sell her still profusely in the country where I live. 💜🔮 2011 to 2026 and still here we are enjoying her

Such a gem! 💜 This is a great sexy fragrance for fall and winter. We’re on the cusp of spring so I’m starting to pull my florals but on cooler nights, I’m still reaching for my cozy scents. This is absolutely stunning! I love the anise note, it gives it a bit of spice, just enough to make it mysterious. I picture this as one of those scents that makes you want to put on a smoky eye and a deep red lip. It makes you put a little more swing in your hips and reminds you you’re a sexy female and you should use some of your feminine wiles a little more! 😉 I really rock my favorites for fall and winter, black opiums, la Nuit Tresors, hypnotic poison, The Only One, but I need to give this one more attention! It’s absolutely beautiful!

Анонім

For me it smells like a purple (forest berries) dextrose aphrodisiac candy, I cannot describe it any better. I absolutely love it but be careful as it attracts men like flies, men are crazy of this perfume

Анонім

Blind buy, but this is an immediate LOVE. Mostly a deep, sexy, berry liquorice scent. Soft spicy, but never sharp, dries down powdery soft. Could be worn as very sexy or also very sweet. So happy with this!

Анонім

I adore this scent. It's captivating and grungily beautiful- think hot punk singer. The anise and Licorice is divine and its sweet but not at all syrupy. I have skin that eats scents, they just disappear and this one is no different. I wish it had longevity on me. I have Lolita Lempica on order and can't wait to see if that will last a bit longer. I have 2 bottles of Loverdose and I am truely tempted to buy another as I never want to be without it. Sometimes if I overspray my hair I can still smell it after 3 hours. This scent feels like my personality. I leave an impression but then I'm a ghost.

Анонім

I really liked this fragrance but was so disappointed by the longevity (max 2h on my skin) that I never pulled the plug on buying it. I do test it as often as possible though! Sweet and spicy but mellowed by the florals, the base isn't very heavy either, just adding a bit of depth. It comes across as playful and intimate. I envy people who get a better longevity out of it!

Анонім

Lovely indeed. The opening is flashy anis but it quickly soften. Then the licorice is there but much more sweet red than spicy black. After that it reminds me of 90s fruity gum mixed with clean breath... Intimate... Reassuring but daring at the same time... I catch myself daydreaming about how great it would be to kiss someone who smells like that...On me, the base notes are more reminescent of instant strawberry milk mixed with warm body... It doesn't last long compared with most of my wardrobe and the sillage fits the intimacy suggested by the whole experience. Perfect bottle. A little gem. Thank you Olivier Cresp.

I just finished a bottle of this and i'm really sad :( I love this perfume & need another. Its definitely giving edgy/grungy/punk/rockstar/rebel. The licorice is prominent and gives it that candylike sweetness but theres something (the woodsy notes i assume) that makes it smoky and a little metallic. I sprayed the last few sprays of this for a sweaty halloween party because thats kind of the vibe I get from this perfume. This is perfect for concerts or underground raves or any club where you will be body to body dancing. wish it lasted longer but longevity is like 3-4 hours. you get a nice projection with a generous spray. sillage is moderate. for the price though i think it's worth it. plus the bottle is soooo cute.

Анонім

I'm not sure why people see this one on a bad girl or rebel. it is so sweet and nice. It is like the big black licorice candy. Its perfect for autumn, October, but I can see why it would potentially bother some people. I love it.

Анонім

Yay! It's the season for loverdose again!!! Halloween season staple for me 💜

Анонім

this is...interesting. i dont know what to say. its def not for me, but i can imagine an alt baddie ROCKING this. you have to have a certain style and personality to pull it off, its not for everyone. not everyone is going to like it, either, but if youre fine with that go for it.

Анонім

This is a sweet liquirice/anise fragrance which is more sweet than spicy. From the reviews I hoped it would be more spicy. It is also relatively light, not too heavy or cloying. I did 7 sprays and not overwhelmed. Best for colder weather.

Анонім

This doesn’t smell like Black Opium to me at all. What I do get is Valentino Donna Born in Roma. Like the same exact thing. This was discontinued but it’s pretty easy to find for cheap, so if you don’t have the money to get DBIR, this is a safe substitution. Im wondering if this changes with the weather as it is currently 90 degrees out where I live. Maybe this could be a wintery version of DBIR?

It’s strange - the scent I have worn the longest is the one I almost rejected out of hand. My first bottle of Loverdose was a gift at fourteen. I found it too “slutty,” too “girly”- yet I sprayed it in my room anyway, as if daring myself to find out who I might become if I wore it outside. The smell was overwhelming, cloying, almost suffocating - so foreign to my shy, quiet self that it felt like I’d stepped into a fantasy harem, a haze of sweet incense and performative seduction. I finished that bottle at nineteen. Bought another, and another. I am on my third now. For me, Loverdose isn’t just a fragrance. It’s a memory, a mood, a room where the purple curtains never open and the furniture is cheap IKEA painted in shadows. String lights blink half-heartedly overhead. It smells like late-night self-reflection - adolescent and aimless, curling up in the dark, letting the haze of vanilla and star anise fill the space I was afraid to inhabit. The star anise is the memory hook: childhood walks with my father, licorice eaten after the cinema, boots crunching on new snow on a dark December night. The licorice wasn’t even good, I never liked it, but the moment was sweet - bitterness cut with warmth. When I first started using Loverdose as a newly legal woman, it felt like a dare: a challenge to see if the scent that felt “too sexy” would make me feel vulnerable, even hunted. Instead, it did the opposite. It made me feel powerful. The cloying haze that once felt confining became something protective, almost regal: an embrace of purple silk, equal parts shield and invitation. Self-love, when you’re a broken girl in a broken world, is painful - but those blue-green bruises look good against heart-shaped glass tinted with poison colors. Years pass. What once felt too sweet, too much, mellows into something caramel-like, soft around the edges. The perfume doesn’t feel like a restraint anymore. It’s not a mask I put on for anyone else, it’s an accent I crave, a small indulgence I wear for myself. The memory of that shared licorice remains. Loverdose is no longer a test of my courage or a trap for the unwary; it’s just me: complicated, a little nostalgic, a little hungry for sweetness.

Sensual, sweet licorice candy. It's smoothly blended, a bit simplistic and linear, but nicely seductive. Someone else mentioned that it smells like Black Opium with anise and I have to agree. Smell: 7 out of 10 Strength: 8 out of 10 Feminine For reference, I'm female.

Анонім

I think the anise notes were too much for me personally. It's my first time trying a perfume with anise, so I don't know yet if this neans I don't like anise notes in general, or if it's the specific combination of notes in Loverdose. Another possible issue is that I didn't like it because I tested it during the daytime in spring. I see from people's votes that it's actually recommended for nighttime, as well as autumn and winter. However, I don't find it promising enough to be worth waiting till autumn to try again.

Анонім

I would have gone absolutely insane for this when I was 19, had blue hair, and wore all black. I still go absolutely insane for this, I just have red hair now. Sweet, spicy, vanilla and licorice bomb. Exactly what you're expecting in the best possible way.

Анонім

Loverdose is a surprising fragrance - its sweet blend of licorice, vanilla, and anise hovers between girlish charm and femme fatale allure. It’s an unusual combination, to be sure, but not without appeal. I find it captivating in its own way, though I’m not convinced I could wear it myself. I must admit, that bold anise note unsettles me a little. It’s definitely a scent to test before committing, the anise could prove divisive. That said, the bottle is undeniably beautiful.

I vividly remember being obsessed with this perfume back when it came out as a kid simply because of the design of the bottle (think purple and heart shaped, right) and the gourmand scent, whilst having my perfume collector mother eagerly agree on the likeability of this thing. got it as a gift a few years ago from my mom for nostalgia :) immediately makes me think of a very sweet aromatic spicy tea because of the anise/licorice which is why i really enjoy it. keeps that same unique scent all throughout its longevity and imo luckily doesn't change after dry down, maybe evens out, but otherwise it stays the same.

I’ve been wearing this glorious beauty for years - since I was a teenager. It’s pretty unique - the licorice note is at the forefront of the whole thing, backed up by vanilla, amber, flowers. It is seductive, heavy, bold and singular. The performance is pretty good for the price - it lasts a decent while, the sillage is good, and people will comment on it. It’s not a perfume masterpiece, but I thoroughly enjoy it.
