I tried this at Sephora years ago. I made it my birthday sample. It smells like sun. The perfect name! I don’t get sunscreen exactly. It’s a wonderful sunny floral without smelling like a full blown garden. There is something in there that is cloying. I initially enjoy it, but then can’t wear it for a bit. It was enough of a love to snatch a bottle when I started seeing inventory dwindle.
I'm surprised by how sweet this is! This is sweet, ambery yellow florals with something fruity in the background - a soft pineapple note, perhaps? The problem with this is I also pickup a baby-wipe powdery note here too which is off-putting. I especially notice it if I spray more heavily. Overall it's a definite pass for me.
That thing is a bomb of migraine! It does smell good but it lasts like 4 days straight!
Sold my bottle some years ago as it smelled too much like honey to me then. Recently repurchased and now it’s a very different experience. Smooth creamy floral with white flowers and vanilla taking the lead, while frangipani and ylang ylang are background players. I can’t handle those two being too strong, so this is a good thing. I don’t think Sun di Gioia is a particularly beachy kind of perfume, this is more of a calm and serious scent. Skin against skin, that kind of thing. It is now the middle of winter and I think it really shines, brings warmth to any cold day. Perhaps, for me, this is just too much in warm weather and that’s why I disliked it last time I had it. This time it’s a keeper! Fairly intimate sillage and medium longevity.
To me this kind of smells like Beach Walk from Replica. Kind of a sunscreen vibe, but in a pleasant and clean way. I got a travel size second hand and I’m glad I didn’t throw down for the full bottle. I think I’ll use it but not enough to justify the prices. So far it’s my least favorite of the flankers.
I think it smells like summer. Like sunscreen and warmth! ☀️
Hi anybody has 3 ml of this to swap with me please. I really want to try it before hunting for a full bottle.
A walk into a beach-house garden on a hot day. The flowers lining the fence, and in an arrangement on the table, greet you as the white-linens billow in the wind next to a citrus tree. A refreshing tropical floral for a clean-girl aesthetic. Familiar, yet surprising, as it attempts to update the beach-vibe genre. The opening is a citrus-spritzed bouquet of creamy tropical flowers, as the bergamot lifts the creamy frangipani and non-indolic jasmine. Sun di gioia softly dries down to a soft floral musk - a clean summer laundry emerges from the benzoin, iris, and ambroxan, softening the florals. A surprise is the freesia in place of the expected, traditional tuberose. Freesia adds a lifting non-gourmand, floral sweetness. This one might have trouble finding an audience because clean-girls might be turned off by the strong tropical florals, and vacation-bound noses might not appreciate the shift from sun-drenched florals to line-dried laundry.
this thing smells like a sweet flower that u can smell on ur grannys garden ! surprisingly good !!
This is not a beach fragrance IMO in the sense that there are no characteristically beachy notes like solar, ozonic, marine, or coconut. This starts out screechy from the freesia, almost like acetone, but quickly calms to a warm, caramelish, vanilla with white florals whispering softly EXCEPT for the jasmine. The jasmine demanded my full attention and this became cloying by hour two. I can't imagine wearing this in warm temperatures. I had high hopes for this one, but alas, a hard pass for me.
Something in here smells like baby wipes to me 🫠
Smells like watermelon and sweet And i love it First i thought it’s seems like womanity but now i love it
I am usually not a fan of this much bergamot in perfumes for women but I feel like this one has it balanced out really well. It's not overpowering and it has very fresh yet complex accords to it. This is definitely a summer scent; I am usually drawn to fragrances that are more suited for fall and winter so I wouldn't wear this myself but I would definitely recommend it to someone who really likes expensive smelling and summery fragrances.
This smells like the beach! Summer! Tropical! Soft! Sexy! If you want to smell like a sexy beach bronze goddess this is it. And it leaves a gorgeous scent trail and bubble wherever you go. It's solar, floral, sunny, powdery, a pinch of suntan lotion, but elevated in a high class way!
i am not sure what i was thinking. for the longest time this has smelled like olympea with a heavy plumeria to me. and now it smells like sunscreen. maybe sweetened with honey. on clothes its a whole sunscreen vibe but on skin it softens up to smell more like "warm skin", buttery florals and .. very nice sunscreen. still smells a bit like olympea but.. no salt ive been trying with this for years and taking notes.. now maybe its time to just let go?
It finally happened! I had 2 co-workers compliment this fragrance. It's fairly strong, but not offensively so. Sweeter than my usual fragrances, but in an elegant way. I like it!
It is spring, and I am thinking how I can't wait until the summer to wear this.
Smells just like sunscreen. Boring and unimaginative
This scent is AMAZING. This is not one of those “sunscreen” perfumes, it is more than that. It smells so summery and soft. I’m an ambergris/ambroxan lover when done right, and this is SO RIGHT. Bad move on Armani’s part to discontinue this one of a kind scent. I’ve since loaded up on as many bottles as I can get my hands on (and my paychecks allow!). It does not smell like sunscreen to me at all, it is far too beautiful to compare it to that. It’s my go to summer perfume. In my opinion it is the best Armani made. The rest to me are so basic and department store smelling, but not this one!
Smells like sunscreen. This, along with Alien Goddess from Mugler were giant flops for me, unfortunately. For me, if I want to smell like sunscreen, I will apply sunscreen. It's not what I want in a perfume.
I really wanted to like this, but there is a heaviness to it which i find nauseating, i also own olympea solar and really like it but find that lacks depth, sun di gioia has too much depth, im searching for something inbetween, i tend to layer the 2 to create the perfect balance.
Sunny scent! Scent of relaxation, happiness and vacation! It is subtle, but warm and calming! Safe and inoffensive :) I liked it!
Love this one. Beautiful summer fragrance. Sweet vanilla and frangipani. I’ve been enjoying using it but I think I found another frangipani fragrance that I like better in Manceras Wild Candy. Will I will enjoy my bottle but I won’t be repurchasing. I found a bottle for a good price on a gray market website.
Why, WHY did Armani discontinue this? Sun Di Gioia is hands down the best performing of the Di Gioia line I have tested so far. Whereas Air, Acqua and Ocean vanish within the 30 minute mark, Sun Di Gioia lingers like a good suntan, up to five or six hours on skin, and eight on clothes. It's an appealingly and, yes, appropriately sunny, cheerful fragrance. The frangipani and coconut accords are the strongest, giving it a light yet lactonic quality with just a hint of fruit, banana and gentle sweetness. The vanilla is surprisingly understated, though it helps give this fragrance some delicious staying power. The notes are fabulous. While the frangipani and coconut are the stars, the supporting cast is also great–waxy, cosmetic iris and ylang-ylang, powdery freesia and photorealistic, creamy jasmine. This jasmine accord is especially great because jasmine blooms everywhere in my neighborhood and this perfume smells a lot like it. I can't smell the benzoin, but I assume this is one of the reasons why, alongside the vanilla, that Sun Di Gioia clings to skin and fabric so well in contrast to the others in its line. I'd compare it to some other summer "sunscreen" favorites, like a less heavily white floral Guerlain Terracotta, or a more tropical and floral variant of Arquiste's Vacation. I'll have to grab a back-up bottle because I think I will reach for this a lot. EDIT: I know coconut is not listed on the notes here, but I can definitely detect it! I think it's a testament to how well this is blended!
One of those rare perfumes that just simply smells good without smelling perfumey. I think anyone could wear this; I wouldn't place it firmly in any particular category, though I think Sun is an appropriate name choice since it is a warmer scent, though not overpowering at all. I've worn this in all seasons and it performs well in both cold and warm weather. I like wearing it in cooler months to remind me of warmer days and sunshine.
I love this scent. Think of the beach, think of summer, think of white flowers, a little bit of vanilla - this is it. Unfortunately, this is a very light scent, and it vanishes within an hour on the skin. it sticks to clothes more than it sticks to the skin. On clothes, you can get a good 10 hours.
Delicious scent of tropical fruits or tropical cocktail. Frangipani, ylang-ylang, ambroxan - all together give a tropical paradise. The bottle matches the scent perfectly - yellow color like the sand on the beach or like the sand in the desert. Light, summer (though appropriate at any time of the year), feminine fragrance. Longevity and sillage are great, more than twenty four hours on clothes. Of all Gioia I have chosen this one based on the note description. And I like this so much! It is similar to Dolce & Gabbana's Shine. But I don't bother. I have both and love both of them.
I really love the bottle for this. Albeit bears a striking resemblance to DUNE. I was torn today, between wearing this or Calvin Klein's REVEAL. This one won. But I'd like to recommend that to other fans of this.
♡Romantic Summer Beach Fragrance♡ This is soooooo pretty, I just love it! Such a perfect summer, hot day fragrance. My life has pretty much always been around beaches, seas, oceans, and lakes. Atlantic, Pacific, Caribbean, and Mediterranean. They all have their charms, and their scents. I learned to swim before I learned to walk. I think that's why I'm so obsessed with beach fragrances. From Christian Dior's Eden Roc, Tom Ford's Soleil, and even the beach ones from Bath and Body Works. Just love beach scents. However, this. ... This right here is pretty girl in a summer sun dress, feminine in a bottle. I'm not big on florals per say, but this has such a girly soft perfume floral that blends so perfectly with the rest of the sun lotion vibe. This is for a date at the beach day, and/or night, where you don't necessarily have to get in the water. Maybe your date takes you sailing to have champagne and fruits by the golden gate Bridge in the Bay Area, or a private boat ride to a secluded little beach in Panamá, or just shopping and going for Gelato at the Florida Keys, or just eating dates at the beach of the dead sea and enjoy people watching as they float and read the paper laughing. Its a comforting fragrance. Reminds me of wrapping up a lovely beach date with my husband. I get whiffs of this perfume as we hug and kiss in the elevator up to our suite. We're just laughing with my wedge heels on my hand, and a glass of sweet apple crisp Pinot grigio on the other. It's a fun, pretty and relaxed, romantic sort of beach fragrance. I wear it in Hot days, mostly 80°F (26.67°C) and up weather. I smell it around me, and it last between 4-6hours. Hope this helps (◠‿◠✿)
I agree with @BonjourHarper, you need to test this on skin as on paper I could hardly smell it. This isn’t your typical ‘fruity’ sun scent which is common nowadays which I very much dislike. This is a very gentle, Amber and white florals scent. Definitely only wear this on a sunny day, with a breeze it’s wonderful! It’s not a bombarding fragrance but when you do get a waft of it it’s so refreshing and you think to yourself ‘oh I really love this’. The main notes in this are bergamot, Amber and jasmine. Fresh and sharp opening opening, drys down to a lovely addictive smooth and warm amber floral. STUNNING. A very different take on a beach scent, sad to see it’s been discontinued, I will use my 30ml bottle sparingly! However, If you are in the UK, the Fragrance Shop online still sells this. As for projection, it’s a very intimate skin scent, but I appreciate that at times. Longevity is only a few hours on me, but I don’t fault it too much. I’m very happy to have this in my collection, a lovely spin on a summer scent. Pick this up if you can. I’m interested in now getting Beach Walk if it’s anything similar to this.
