Organza

This was my first department store purchase when I got my Discover card in '99. I felt so grown up wearing this BIG perfume at 18 lol. I've worn it off & on since then and 27yrs later, it's still one of my all time faves. Classic Givenchy, bold, dark, white floral greatness! An absolute diamond 💎

Gorgeous! It’s a rich and deep floral without being too heavy or headache-inducing. There’s a lightness and fresh feeling to it but still best for fall, spring, early summer too. To my nose, it’s a tad bit like Shalimar Jasmin but that one has a rich, thick vanillic jasmine (gorgeous too!) whereas this is lighter and sweeter. I feel so pretty when I wear this!

This is it. The fragrance that ignited my love of perfume. That spicy white floral/woody/vanilla DNA is so intoxicating...there's simply nothing like it. The most perfect gardenia note I have found thusfar 🥰 If anyone can recommend a modern scent that shares this DNA, please leave a comment! I just bought myself a vintage bottle of this beauty, but I'm keen to explore other white floral/woody/vanilla gems.

@schmerzlust I just came here to leave another review because I used it today and was amazed that I can still smell it on me after more than 8 hours. It's a matter of skin ph, it's as simple as that. It's either compatible or not with a particular fragrance. Although the current versions are not as potent as the vintage ones, they are still great given that their users' ph is compatible. Organza remains a high quality fragrance, regardless of its reformulations. You just have no luck with it.

Tested it in Sephora just now. Loved it. It lasted on me exactly one hour 😩how is this rated “eternal”? It didn’t even last until I left the mall

New signature. Period. Incredible beauty!!! A fragrance from a time when trees could walk and animals could speak and colorful personalities who were so full of life and realness were my elders. Who were unfailingly kind and who i always looked upto. Artistic and inspiring and humorous. Warmhearted. All the best of my childhood in the 90's, bottled. And on top of all of that, it's an absolutely gorgeous refined, sensual and timeless floral with mood enhancing qualities adding to a vibrant lifegiving atmosphere wherever it's presence is felt.

Call me crazy, but today, I picked up Diamonds and Rubies (Elizabeth Taylor) which was sitting unused for several years, and after a couple of sprays, I had a strong deja vu. I thought of Organza and compared the 2, side by side. I can't claim that I have a trained nose, but the ressemblance is uncanny. Maybe it's the way D & R matured, and my skin chemistry, but I am happy that I can use it more frequently and save Organza for special occasions.

@herculano if you can share where you found a vintage bottle of Organza, I would be immensely grateful. This was my signature scent from its inception and deeply miss the complex nuances of the original. I have other vintage Givenchy fragrances, but used this one to the last drop. In my humble opinion, nothing compares and nothing gets me the compliments this did.

This is so gorgeously classic and I am absolutely shocked that most find this a fall/winter fragrance ! Personally, I think this is very springy! Perhaps older bottles had more spice. My bottle is only a year or two old and I would consider this a strong floral somewhat soapy scent. I don’t get a lot of spice at all but do get a slightly woody base. I definitely wouldn’t call this dated. I think it’s just as wearable today and when it came out. It is perfumey, so if you’re a gourmand girlie, I’m not sure you’d like this. It goes a little powdery, and I am not a powdery girl, but this doesn’t bother me a bit for some reason. All in all this is a gorgeous classic!

On the right person this is a really beautiful smell. I wanted it to work on me as one of my friends used to love this smell and it smelled so lovey on her but on my skin it doesn't work. She's a really masterpiece of a gem on the right person. Reminds me of cream soda in the best way.

I'm in my late 20s and absolutely love wearing this as my going out perfume. And by going out, I mean the theatre, an exhibition, or a concert, not the club. Makes me feel beautiful, like life only gets better. There's just something about it, a je ne sais quoi that has a grip on me, that I haven't found elsewhere. Thanks mamman for showing me this one.

At first sniff, it seemed that this fragrance is in the same olfactory family with Femme (Rochas), Ciara (Revlon), Youth Dew (Estee Lauder) and the like. Quite old fashion, vintage, strong and bold. But it was straight from a very cold bottle that I just picked up from the delivery locker, so I will have to let it settle at room temperature, then see what happens. EDIT 4 hours later: what a totally different fragrance this is, after developing on warm skin. Not vintage anymore, but sweet, romantic, floral and slightly vanillic. Absolutely wonderful.

As soon as this was released it was on my Christmas list. I was 14. Oh how times have changed! I've loved her ever since. To me it's a masterpiece I've bought it over and over again...and nowadays you can pick it up for an absolute steal. Potent, sophisticated. Utterly Feminine. A peak into the bold floral perfumerie of the 90s. Love it so much.

Very pleasing soft-spicy white floral. The nutmeg and gardenia go together like grated nutmeg on a baked rice pudding. Makes me think of wearing white ... not sure where the organza element is meant to stem from though, but I suppose that isn't important. I find this to be surprisingly underrated, especially given that milky creamy white florals are pretty 'in' right now (see the various Kilian and, to an extent, Kayalis on the US market). Fine by me though, as this one is still easy to source despite being sort of half in half out of production from what I can see. Rice pudding gardenia... who'd've thought!

This would be my signature perfume if it weren't so hard to source in my country. There truly is nothing quite like it. Classy, spicy, and floral - best paired with something woody or balsamic.

My mother’s signature perfume, old but gold. Will forever be a love for me, everything a white floral - vanilla-amber - fragrance should be.

What a beauty. Ethereal, warm, radiant, sensual, beautifully feminine and mysterious — the scent of a classic goddess. A creamy, luminous veil of indolic white florals, with a touch of honeyed sweetness in the opening. Nutmeg gives it an earthy, spicy, enigmatic spark. There's an undercurrent of ambery, animalic warmth which, combined with the white florals, gives the fragrance a tender, milky facet. I had some resistance to trying classic, designer fragrances like this because I thought they would smell dated and generic, compared to the modern niche scents I'm usually drawn to, but I was wrong. For me, this smells timeless and beautiful, and it has a character of its own. I'm so happy to get to know it!

Opulent, heady tuberose and gardenia, vanillic, nutty, and slightly cinnamony/clovey. Warm, sensual, and womanly, and slightly sweet in a syrupy but not sugary way. Also a bit powdery. This feels very romantic and mature, perfect for date nights and fancy occasions on fall and winter nights. Organza could be an older sister to JPG Classique, or a more night-time appropriate flanker of it. I have a vintage miniature that used to be my mom’s and it’s so cute.

This is a beautiful classic white floral. Combination of opulent white florals and spices, mostly nutmeg, on a rich, thick vanilic base. It is pretty, feminine, unique. Golden perfume from golden era of perfumes when every perfume smelled different and recognisable. It reminds me tiny bit of Guerlains Terracotta but this is spicier and more potent. I do prefer smoothnes and magic of Terracotta. I don't own original bottle but this one is at least five years old and juce is dark orange. It lasts all day and has moderate projection and wears smoothly. It's a big like, almost love.

To Galateus The bottles from the 90s are the original formulation (vintage) and they are ridiculously powerful, long wearing (all day snd then some) and project like crazy. New formulation is a shadow of what it once was, which is probably the explanation for your experience. The older bottles are frosted glass. Newer reformulated Organza is in a clear glass bottle.

It's a vintage and elegant scent. Floral (especially white flowers), amber-y, creamy, with some wood notes on the background. However, I expected it to be way more long-lasting after reading other reviews here. On my hot skin, it lasted just around 1-2 hours. It's quite safe for blind buying, I think.

Cute, old-school, vintage smelling, but in a good way. Elegant, womanly, grown up. I don't need it, but if someone around me would wear it I would definitely appreciate it. It's a good perfume.

when was someone going to tell me about this... DAMN...

Last week i went on a rare vintage Poison wearing binge ( 3 days straight ). It was glorious, because it was also storming. The skies were dark even in the day. Such an exciting fragrance. And i am not in the mood since then to wear newer weaker non-projecting fragrances (i have a perfume collection in the hundreds) So today the sun is out, and theres a nice northern california autumn chill in the air. I decided on (vintage) Organza. My root beer float white floral. Whenever i wear this i get mad compliments. But truth be told, ALL my vintage perfumes get loads of compliments. I have chosen wisely over a decade of serious perfume collecting. All my vintage perfumes, in particular, are borderline masterpieces. But maybe more than that, they are simply more powerful in every way than todays offerings. So, you know, people can actually SMELL THEM. Anyway, Organza was my least favorite vintage for years, and even when i sampled it in the 90s i disliked it. I was an Amarige girl in those days. I tend to like my vintage fragrances to have tart fruits and florals. I like them to fizz and pop with some energizing verve. Organza has zero tart fruit. Its exceedingly mellow. Not weak by any stretch of the imagination, its a huge projector, and lasts all day, but its projecting calm luxury … almost lethargic. However, there are days when Organza fits my mood, and today is one of those days. Organza smells to me like a delicious root beer float. Creamy root beer. Thats it. Its this aspect of Organza that won me over.

I know it's not mentioned in the notes above, but for some reason I get a peach note as well.
