It's not bad but its just a really confusing fragrance. to me this smells like what perfume would smell like after it's been sitting on someones skin for like an hour. the powdery floral notes sort of fade into the background but the smell of skin is at the forefront. something about it also feels slightly sensual but in like a really uncomfortable sort of way.
As someone new to PHLUR scents, I've noticed this brand exudes a primal, sensual aura. Missing Person combines familiar perfume notes with something entirely new. Upon first application, I felt a wave of nostalgia; the scent evoked childhood memories. It took me a few days to pinpoint what captivated me—until I recalled the smell of my grandma after her morning run, which always included at least five miles, and her Nivea Skin Cream. I’m not referring to body odor, but the powdery scent of Nivea mingled with fresh sweat and summer sunshine. Missing Person feels the most human perfume I’ve worn, and my skin responds beautifully to its indolic and musky notes.
Why does this smell of nostalgia and trauma simultaneously? The florals feel comforting, like a hug from a female relative. But there’s a note lurking in the background that gives me anxiety. I can’t quite explain it but this perfume made me physically ill, as if I was reliving an uncomfortable childhood memory. Even the thought of this scent was enough for my body to revolt. What a bizarre experience.
I left a rave review of this and after absolutely caning this perfume for a few weeks it began to smell like a dusty disinfectant, it has a static energy, the more I wore it, the more cloying, and claustrophobic I found it. I’ve sold my full bottle and was glad to be rid of it like a needy ex lololol It's actually quite fascinating ( or deranged …..it’s me I’m deranged) how dramatically my perception of it changed. I went through two decants, bought a full bottle and genuinely thought I'd found one of the cornerstones of my collection. A few weeks later, I couldn't wait to sell it.
Fascinating, for how many people this smells familiar. To me, this is my aunts’ old flat and her not baled Cake with youghurt and apricots. I did not like the aunt much. But i will probably smell this anytime i can in Sephora because its just so weird how they nailed the smell.
I smelled it before I even read the name, and it instantly reminded me of hugging my mom while crying, after a long schoolday. Smells mature, familiar and comforting.
More like missing perfume. I can’t smell a thing
initial strong alcohol scent. watery, creamy jasmine with bergamot very light and very floral. lush pond vibes. sort of a clean soap smell which is familiar but I cannot pin point how. a bit of a boring scent due to the soapy nature
“Missing Person” would be better titled “Missing Scent.”
It smells a lot like the original dove soap but isn’t very detectable. Probably an appropriate scent for someone who wants to smell like nothing but something 🧼
The fragrance equivalent of the Gen Z stare lol. It doesn't smell like this necessarily, but it reminds me of the taste of water that's been sitting in a plastic bottle for too long. Or like a vape that's nearly empty but not burned. Smells young, or like the insecurity of youth. Stunted and sensitive. Ashamed of its own inauthenticity. It smells like stagefright.
I made an account just to review this perfume. This is a veryyyy nostalgic scent for me because it smells exactly like a product my Filipino grandmother would use when I was little. I don’t want to be the stereotypical “it smells like a grandma” but for me it really does but in an enjoyable personal way. It’s kind of a perfumey perfume tho, don’t ask me any of the notes. Not special by any means either.
It kind of smells like a clean woman you know who usually smells good but they've been standing in the sun for too long and all the perfume on their clothes faded, and it faded to this smell that you can not smell unless you have your nose up their clothing fabric as you lean in for a hug.
I constantly read reviews for skin scents where they are described as "like a clean white tee shirt". I have never really understood what people meant by that after smelling other fragrances often compared to it. THIS fragrance, however, is the epitome of a clean white tee shirt. it smells warm and musky while simultaneously smelling like crisp fresh laundry out of the dryer. there is a bit of pepperiness in the opening that adds depth and keeps this fragrance interesting. a recent comment below says that this smells a bit like freshly printed papers from a copy machine and I actually do understand that. I love it and will definitely add it to my regular rotation when I am not feeling like smelling like perfume!
First impression: Smells like my childhood but I cannot pinpoint a specific thing that smells like it. Maybe that's the reason why it's called Missing Person. This smells kinda manly that the first thing that came to mind was my late Uncle. Smells like an aftershave/deodorant that has dried down. I don't think I'll need a full size bottle of this. Kinda pricey for a perfume that smells like nothing. The scent quickly fades and you need to shove your nose just to smell it.
same style musky, a bit plastic like glossier you. extremely overhyped and romanticized for no reason
Someone said it smells like a clean penis and i actually agree😭 it really does smell familiar. Like unsettlingly familiar. I felt sick when skin testing this because of the familiarity, i just couldnt place the scent and where i had smelled it before
I was really eager to try this after seeing all of the hype. I can say I’m genuinely shocked that this is so popular. It definitely is not giving a your skin but better fragrance to me like many have described it as. I just smell a really musty scent. Nothing clean about it to me and I do not find it pleasant.
I went through two full sized bottles of this. Really loved it when I had it, but somewhere around the halfway point of the second bottle, I was so over it. It's popular for a reason, but not exactly something I could envision being someone's signature scent. Not much personality to it, so it is easy to be bored after some time. Good for layering or when you want something light/barely-there.
although i loved the fragrance, the dry down made me repulsed 9/10 otherwise (just not on my skin)
Its like if an airport and an office had a baby Inoffensive but boring
Missing Person or Missing Scent? After spraying what felt like a quarter of my 10 ml travel spray on myself, my husband, strips of paper, and even my clothes, I finally managed to catch a faint whiff of it. And it is lovely. Soft, comforting, and quietly intimate—like being wrapped in a handmade blanket that keeps you warm without ever becoming too cozy or suffocating. Too bad I’ll probably never experience it again, because I’m not about to spend another 40 minutes of my life chasing a fragrance that’s playing hide-and-seek with my nose. I guess musk anosmia really is a thing. Luckily, this is the first fragrance that’s ever made me realize I might be one of the unlucky ones.
Love it. Light, soft, and airy. The perfect 'oh no i'm not wearing any perfume, it's just my skin scent' perfume. Performance is very intimate so I understand it may not be for everyone, but I think that is the essence of this one. A soft, transparent musk with a little bit of sweetness like you just came out of a warm shower.
It's not a bad perfume by any means, but 'Missing Person' feels like it is missing a personality. On my skin I notice none of the subtleties and notes listed as part of the perfume. Instead, what I'm left with is a sheer wash of laundry sheets and summer cotton. It's an inoffensive, uninspired and uninspiring scent to me. Slightly antiseptic, it gives the impression of a young receptionist working at a downtown dental clinic. She's got her shit together, she goes to pilates, she's a 'clean girl'.... but is she an individual? The scent does not have much of a spread and can only be detected through a hug or an up close sniff; perhaps it would suit folks who are looking for something sheer, subtle and fresh on their skin. There is a touch of musk that reads slightly masculine towards the end of the day, as the lightness wears off. I could see the appeal of wearing this for an afternoon date, and having it warm up on the skin.
reminds me of freshly printed papers from a copy machine but a bit sweeter
As a child of the 90s, I've always had a soft spot for the 'egyptian musk/goddess' oils I'd get at the local co-op grocery, but they're soo sappy and loud, too warm for year-round wear, and just too on-the-nose nostalgic. Missing Person is like the fresh, ethereal older sister of those oils.. it wears close to the skin, sheer, warm like a sunny spot on a daybed, not a thick wool sweater. It's good for year-round wear, layers beautifully with everything but overtly citrus scents, and just a hint familiar. I am eager to try the oil perfume and body oil.
probably my GOAT perfume. so insanely wearable and honestly have never smelled anything like it. it’s been said but it truly smells like a personal scent, nothing synthetic about it at all. THE perfect base layer for almost anything. ive worn this under woody, ive worn this under floral, ive born this under tropical. i will say, i think this completely depends on the skin of the wearer. on myself/my mother this is a distinct musk, on my partner it’s completely powdery. and by the reviews, on some it’s nothing!
I understand why someone might find this nostalgic- it smells like it belongs on someone who now exists only in memory. Comforting for some but depressing for others. I understand the 'old attic' 'grandmas house' and 'church basement' references. When I focus on how this actually smells, to me it becomes an unsettling mix of musty snapshots around the time of a person's disappearence /demise. 00's perfume gone stale with time, slept-in sheets unchanged for decades in an uninhabited room. A soapy body, slight whiff of an old cigarette, an oddly metallic/ salty organic note that smells like dried blood on tissues, laundered clothing smell or vintage detergent on dry washing, folded into the back of a drawer and left there since 2008. Some people find this comforting- it could be a hug from mom, even drying flowers left in a dusty window, but to me this could also be the detailed timeline of a person's last movements, revisited years later.
It's called Missing Person because it's missing any hint of a scent. You spray this on your skin or on a paper tester and it vanishes without a trace, much like the title. As someone with an otherwise strong sense of smell, I am so deeply unamused by the lack of body to this perfume and it's most definitely overpriced.
