Prada Candy

A soft embrace of powder and clean musk. I adore this one, but I get every note except caramel, which makes me question whether I actually know what caramel smells like. There's a warmth to it that I attribute to the benzoin, but maybe that's my missing caramel? Like many have said, it isn't very sweet, at least not compared to its contemporaries (the straight up caramel frappuccino that is yum boujee kitty caramel milk comes to mind) better described as soft, comforting, maybe cozy. Becomes muskier and more human in summer, absolutely still wearable. Not at all edible and maybe that's what saves it from being sickening in August. Doesn't project a whole lot, more of a skin scent.

I think the benzoin note in this scent makes it not agreeable to my senses. I find that it makes my head hurt with a light lulling headache.

Smelling this on a tester, don't even want to know how it will wear on my skin. I read super powdery so I am hesitant I would smell like a powder room. Smells like the powder room of Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. That's where he gets sweet and sticky with his secret girlfriend. She's got beautiful caramel hair and caramel eyes to match. She smells like this. Almost sickly how sweet it is, this is why she is only a secret girlfriend. I fear not even Willy Wonka could bonka a sweet like this for too long without tossing cookies.

soft early fall scent. an orange duvet cover with a cute little pattern on it. the room is lit only by street lamps outside and a vanilla scented candle inside. what i image my dear friend ab (a powdery fellow) would smell like if they were a stray cat that was recently adopted and has a new found taste for stolen caramel and warm blankets. oh little ab cat, you’re safe now.

So dry, but that's not a bad thing. What got me was the fairly playdough saltiness that it ended up being with my body chemistry. Not a fan, really.

This was the very first perfume I ever wore, back in middle school. Recently I rebought it for nostalgic reasons. However my nose must be very different now as an adult, because all I smell now is movie theater carpet that has old cigarette smoke stains and stale popcorn.

Sweet, but not too sweet. It's been an everyday grab for me for a couple years now. I've gotten many compliments on it, and it doesn't give my aunt (who is sensitive to smells) a headache if I wear it around her. I've also gotten compliments while working long restaurant shifts without reapplying.

It lasts all day in the middle of a summer day above 30*C. It's a sweet, boozy vanilla and it's not overwhelming like other sweet, sticky scents on a hot day. It's kind of airy and light, but sweet.

Yay, in the warmth of late spring/early summer, it has started to smell like pink sugar on my skin, which I loved when it first came out but now smells like tar chemicals and too much licorice to me. Im happy to have this smell back in my repertoire! Both very sweet but also airy and fresh.

Adorable & Sexy—Makeup Powder Vanilla Benzoin This perfume isn’t nearly as sweet as candy. Instead, the scent encapsulates the idea of young girl who loves dessert and maybe even works in a bakery. The caramel note isn’t saccharine, it’s tempered by a very present crisp white musk/amber that almost abducts the sweeter note, wraps and packages them like the Golgi. To me, that’s what makes this a classic gourmand — the absence of sickeningly sweet notes, while sweetness still remains, it is constrained yet alive. There is a lot of powder, but not the kind that fills a room, the kind that makes a perfume smell like soap or body care, but sits close to the skin. A whisper of saffron. The smell of pampers baby wipes before they removed the ‘baby powder’ scent from them.. This perfume could easily be Chanel’s take on a gourmand. Slightly similar to Chanel 5 L’eau on my skin as I do smell aldehydes. I’ve sampled many perfumes, and I can attest to how difficult it must be to create a delicious gourmand that is simultaneously fresh and clean. Prada candy does that effortlessly. There’s a perfume by Lab on Fire I’ve been meaning to try called “messy sexy just rolled out of bed.” I can’t help but think that perfumer was inspired by Prada candy, because that name is exactly what Prada candy smells like. An anti-aesthetic rich girl who is hauntingly beautiful but sees herself as average. Her style is something to marvel at, but in an effortless way— like Lily Rose Depp. She rolls out of bed naturally smelling like the cleanliness of her own studio apartment, the musky pheromones of her own bedsheets. Last night’s bubble bath with oatmeal and epsom salt. Cocoa scented makeup powder. She doesn’t try to smell good, she just does. A culmination of her simple morning routine. Dove white beauty bar (the scented one). Vanilla bean scented hair oil. The vanilla cupcake candle she burns once a week when she cleans. A white musk body oil she bought from Whole Foods. Dreft detergent on her laundry. The fact that this perfume doesn’t smell perfumey to me is why I gravitate toward it. It’s interesting because half of reviewers say this smells like old lady and the other half liken it to a slut or a stripper. It makes sense because strippers and grandmas both love a good powdery scent— I know from experience. None of the reviewers are wrong. It’s kinda old lady, it’s kinda stripper, it’s babyish, it’s got a kind of dirty note too, like a used pair panties. The noble benzoin I think gives it this ethereal diversity. I fell in love with this perfume back in 2011 and never stopped buying it. The PC ad with Leá Seydoux dancing to Marilyn Monroe in the hot pink ballroom is genius marketing that is quite befitting of the atmosphere created by a girl wearing this fragrance. “Running wild, lost control Running wild, mighty bold Feeling gay, reckless too Carefree mind all the time, never blue Always going, don't know where Always showing..I don't care! to me this smells exactly like the perfume a glamorous older woman with red lipstick and chunky eyeliner would wear to bingo or the mall after chain-smoking cigarettes in the parking lot lmao

My friend gifted me a travel size sample of this and I am not a fan at all. It smells very musky and powdery on me and is also headache inducing. I barely get any vanilla or caramel notes, just musk and powder. Smells like something my grandma would wear. Glad this was a sample that was given to me and that I did not buy it myself!

In a world of hyper-sweet gourmands, this isn’t as sweet as you might expect it to be. However, it stands up well to the test of time. I get a light caramel, which is backed up by floral musky powders. It’s not syrupy sweet, but gentle and airy. The performance is not the best. It’s gone without a trace after around 90 mins. In contrast to the review below mine, I like the generous atomiser because it means there’s more chance of being able to smell it on myself. I got my little bottle for a decent discount, but I wouldn’t rebuy and I certainly would not buy at RRP.

One of my favorite perfumes of all time. Very sweet, very musky. Maybe a little powdery. It’s warm and clean and beautiful. But I don’t get any caramel notes and it definitely doesn’t smell like candy. Cons: horrible longevity. For as much as this fragrance costs, it doesn’t last near long enough. And the atomizer on the 1.7oz bottle is the worst atomizer I have ever come across. It’s the one that doesn’t have a detachable cap. You press down on the black and gold atomizer and a stream of perfume comes out. I swear it’s like a fire hose lol. One long stream when it needs to be a mist.

Powdery, ambery, warm and sweet Sweet in a light kind of way, not too much, not too strong I love this perfume

This is a great gourmand - not overpowering and not sickly sweet but definitely doesn’t last and becomes hard to smell. Caramel and candy goodness.

I can't explain it, but this smells like a memory. Not even of anywhere too specific- maybe a fancy hotel room, or a clean elevator, or a city street at dusk. It kind of smells a little bit like a sweet cigarette, if I'm being honest, which I actually kind of love! It's so nostalgic for some reason. I don't actually own a bottle, but I tried some on my arm in a store and couldn't stop smelling it. Not a conventional scent, but great NONETHELESS. Might buy it!

Sweet, caramel, powdery, warm, amber, vanilla, musky, warm spicy, balsamic, feminine, sensual, seductive, flirty, sophisticated, charming, whimsical, dreamy, delightful, delicious, alluring, tempting, addictive, inviting, cozy, comforting On me this opens with sweet and decadent we caramel with a very powdery note that reads almost makeup-like, and soft musk. The dry down shines as it intertwines sensual vanilla and cozy and balsamic benzoin. Overall, it’s a very pretty sweet and powdery caramel and vanilla! I bought this when I was in my 20s, and I was so excited about it! I was just starting to really build my collection at that point, and it was just starting to grow. This one stood out to me for maybe about a year. I recently bought it out again to see how I feel about it, especially because I’m a big fan of gourmands, especially marshmallow, vanilla, and/or caramel scents. I definitely still like it, and it’s something that I might reach for occasionally again. This feels feminine to me, and suitable for women of any age as it’s a sophisticated caramel scent. It feels like it would work best during the fall and winter because it’s so cozy, although it could be worn during the warmer months as it’s not something that’s overly sweet, or decadent. This feels most fitting for casual occasions, work/school, and possibly even for date nights. It could also work well as a signature scent. Smells really delicious and I love the scent, but it doesn't last very long.

I do like Prada Candy, especially the caramel opening, and especially for cozy evenings at home. I also get an impression of walking into a toy store with the smell of new dolls and plastic, but I can see the grandmotherly vibes as well. Glad I have Prada Candy, but I rarely wear it.

Lately, I've been in the mood to collect fragrances that were popular around 2018. Enough time has passed and I no longer find them to be generic or common. Prada Candy is one of these. I'm surprised at how powdery this perfume is. I was expecting a candy-like, sweet caramel scent but no, this is powder, lipstick and makeup bag. Most similar to Lipstick On and Voile Rose. Very enjoyable as a bedtime and everyday signature scent. The perfume cloud stays close and the longevity lasts a few days on my clothes. This perfume is not candy caramel and youthful like the name suggests. It's a baby powder cloud. Lovely and cozy in cooler weather.

Ordered a sample vial of this fragrance. First minute after spraying on my skin, I got a very heavy powdery aroma: complementary to baby powder. After a while I can slightly smell notes of a bitter caramel lightly poking through. My main preconceived expectation when purchasing a sample of Prada Candy was that it was going to be quite cloying - the kind of sickening sweetness you would find in more juvenile fragrances. I think the bright hot pink and gold on the bottle and the orange tint of the perfume juice played a part in those notions; scents like Viva La Juicy can be used as a great example of this as it has a similar colour palette to this fragrance. However, olfactory-wise, it doesn't bare many similarities to Viva La Juicy at all. 'Juvenile' and 'Cloying' aren't terms I would use to describe Prada Candy at all. With my skin chemistry, a sharp, musky powder smell takes centre stage, with very thin fragments of caramel that can be compared to a stale Werther's Original candy that's lost it's "sugary-ness" with time. I've seen some of the reviews stating that it kind of smells like baby wipes, which I have also noticed. I can see how some people may think it's a gourmand given the caramel note, but I can tell you it's not gourmand at all. Personally, I registered this as a more 'clean' scent rather than a gourmand. I think this may be due to early memories of being at my grandma's house when I was very young - specifically memories of just having had a warm bath and being doused in baby powder. In conclusion, it's not a fragrance I would wear personally. This fragrance sits very close to the skin but it brings back personal memories from my early childhood (which I can appreciate). That aside, it's not a favourite of mine. I was totally expecting more of the caramel to shine through, but that wasn't the case surprisingly. I can see it being appropriate for the winter time; on cold frosty days, especially days being spent inside (well at least that's my interpretation lol).

I have waited so long to try this, and I finally found myself in a Sephora this weekend-but I was really disappointed. I was expecting sweet, musky, sophisticated candy, instead I got baby powder. I was expecting more from Prada.

Nice, powdery, non-gourmand sweetness. However, it has nothing special and fades to a barely-detectable skin scent in about an hour or two.

Reminds me of sweet fizzy drinks or soda

I first wore this in 2011, shortly after it was released. My mother had gifted this to me on my birthday, it was a total surprise and not like anything she would typically buy me- Mom being almost a centenarian at the time. She has remembered a conversation we had about perfume, I told her my favourite fragrances were sweet and smelt almost edible. Mom was truly shocked that I didn’t share her enthusiasm for her floral perfumes. So for my birthday she went out and found the sweetest, yummiest perfume she could find, that was Prada Candy. Thank you mom. I absolutely adore this scent, it smells like sophisticated caramel. Like the popular girl from high school grew up but stayed popular. This perfume gave me confidence, and knowing that my mother has incredible taste and wanted me to wear this makes it truly special to me. Thank you for those who read my story, stay Blessed. 🥲
