This strikes me as a musc scent. Meaning it takes the right skin chemistry to make this one smell amazing. This was my mom’s perfume. On her, it smelled conforming and red. The bottle color it very fitting. It smells sharp and disorganized.. strong to the nose from the bottle, but it blooms magically on the right person.

just got a mini of this and the first thing i got was the simmilitude to estee lauders eau de private collection! green and mature. not a love for me im afraid, not yet le: that fucking drydown!!!! is this carnation im getting? it veered so far from EDPC im ashamed of my initial statement. i m going to leave it as is because others can learn sometimes, you should bring the big basket to the praised tree

my cousin used to wear this in the early 80s. it smelled so good. her bathroom smelled of this and ivory soap and the thick soft good toilet paper. i wish they would bring this back. it was such a great scent. i would definetly buy it and wear it. you still make the green polo for men so why not this too? everything good gets discontinued and the not as good stuff gets made instead.

bought a mini of this on a flea market. the first whiff I got from the bottle immediately reminded me of a red chili pepper, spicy, warm and a little fruity. on my skin it's very different, at first it smells very green and fresh. that fades and the lilac and rose pop out, followed by the warm, woody notes. usually I get a headache from sweet perfumes like this, not from this one though. the wood balances the sweetness from the lilac nicely. it's rather feminine but the oakmoss and carnation make it nice for men also.

I received this beauty as a gift from my husband when it was 1st released. I only have beautiful memories of wearing this fragrance & my life at that time. What a shame we can't have the "original" back again. 💋

Oh, Lauren.. this was the first vintage mini that I got. I found it second hand for a very good price and the bottle looked so beautiful. I wasn't into vintage scents then, so I was scared about how I was going to like it. Loved it at first sniff. On the skin it develops into a beautiful fresh, almost even aquatic scent with hints of lilacs. The bottle suggests that it would be a deep, warm perfume, or so I assumed because of the red, but it's the polar opposite. It kindled a spark in me for vintage scents, so this is where my new obsession was born. It's very sad that it is no longer produced.

It is fresh, green, aromatic, but still leans feminine without being cloying. It’s blended so well. It’s a great every day practical wear. What a shame it was discontinued.

Mmm so so so pretty, prettiest green fragrance with some orange blossom soap for good measure. A masterpiece

I was lucky enough as a teen to be gifted this by a family member and it remained my signature scent into adulthood. I loved it, and everyone associated it with me. I've longed to smell it again due to how much I adored it. It's odd though, I never considered it a green fragrance in any way. Maybe that beautiful burgundy bottle was somehow suggestive, but, to me, it was a perfect representation of exactly what the fragrance smelled like-- sweet, deep, cozy, warm, and romantic. I will purchase a vintage someday in the near future.

Smell like pineapple hairspray at first then the pineapple disappears quickly and you're left with ultra plasticky hairspray smell led by lily of the valley.

Floral enough to be remarkably feminine, but green and medicinal enough to work on a man with especially warm skin. Strangely DILFy on me, even though it smells great on a woman.

Please bring it back! A warm floral and timeless scent.

This was a fruity green floral. The pineapple note was huge. The reformulation took out the pineapple completely and amped up the carnation. One of the best imo.

My first "mature" and complex fragrance. I can still smell it in the "nose" in my head. Very long lasting, not quite beast mode. Sweet, and green, but very spicy. Never been another scent just like it, IMO. And the bottle was so incredibly simple and gorgeous, I hung onto my bottle for months after it was empty. Great for fall and winter, a great "by the fireplace" scent.

This is the first perfume I ever owned. I received it in 1983 as a Bat Mitzvah present. In 2014 I became obsessed with it again and was wearing it as a signature scent. I have 3 partially used bottles of the original Warner/Lauren release.i just broke it out today for the first time in years once again. And it is gorgeous. In the past year, I’ve gotten very into fragrance, and though I have smelled over a hundred, there is nothing similar to this sweet, spicy, floral. I don’t find it to be dated, but I just don’t think this scent can be created due to regulation of many of the notes due to sustainability or health reasons. It is exquisite. While people voted that it is a spring fragrance, by today’s standards, I’d put it in fall and winter due to the strength and spiciness.

My older sister (16) had this and I (8) used to go in her room and huff the nozzle. Later she moved on to White Linen and I thought she needed her head examined. The Lauren sat on her dresser, collecting dust and being coveted by me. The combination of the clary sage and pineapple remains a core scent memory for me. An absolute treasure of a perfume. My sister had the Warner/Lauren bottle and, while I’m sure the L’Oreal version is a pale patch on the original, I also noticed a difference in the Cosmair version from the Lauren. FWIW.

Here is a breakdown of labels/years to look for when buying a vintage version. An unopened box with cellophane still on it is your best bet. My aunt was decluttering her collection in August and gave this to me and I’m glad she did <3 so classic, green, and fresh. I feel lucky to have it and cherish the bottle as it seems to be very beloved

My favorite from 1984-1987 NOTHING smells similar. I tried everything to recapture this scent. I won’t buy it on eBay for 400.00 plus. Old decants didn’t hold up well from the sellers I purchased from. The top notes are off on all samples. I miss her! MASTERPIECE!

I first purchased this perfume in 1987, when everyone else my age was wearing Liz Claiborne. I am so glad I went for this one. I have repurchased many times over the years and am so sad that the bottle I currently have will likely be the last. This is a beautiful rich feminine woody clean floral that while originally formulated over 40 years ago does not smell dated to me. Although I realize it may be because it was the fragrance of my youth. I just adore this one.

@Coriemulvey The true vintage version is actually Warner/Lauren, I should know as I have one. The timeframes are, Warner/Lauren 1978 - 1984. Cosmair purchased Warner/Lauren in 1984 and produced Ralph Lauren fragrances until 1999 when L'Oreal Luxury Products took over. I also have an early 1990's Cosmair version and whilst there are differences the Cosmair version is still recognisable as Lauren. You're right in the sense that the Warner/Lauren version is the original and one to go for, if you can find one in good condition. Don't bother at all with the Luxury Products version.

Lauren is a one of a kind scent that sadly no longer is available unless you are lucky enough to obtain it from a vintage perfume seller. The closest I have ever found a perfume that is similar is Weil's Bambou. Again, it isn't a dupe but it does have the earthy floral green notes that is in the original Lauren. If you do try it, make sure that you get Bambou in its original version, not the reformulated one...(it is nothing like the original).

Was recently gifted a vintage(?) bottle. Do NOT like it at all.

This is my second public service announcement. The Cosmair is NOT the true vintage. DONT GET RIPPED OFF. Cosmair smells wonderful but has absolutely ZERO staying power.. yet they cost an arm and a leg and are labeled on eBay as the vintage version (big pet peeve) The true vintage is the Warner version. A gold labeled Warner version and they do exist. They last forever and are multi faceted. I don’t understand how everyone got tricked into believing Cosmair was the way to go. I am delighted to see that Warners are being sold. It drove me nuts to see so many people paying $300 or more for Cosmair.

this starts out very green with hints of florals and woody notes. mostly lily, sage, oakmoss and vetiver for me. after maybe 15 minutes i get some lilac and carnation and the green notes have softened somewhat. overall it's mostly green notes and lily on my skin. it's pretty and i am not sure if i smelled this back in the day. ultimately it is nostalgic though i am not sure it is for me.

This is such a cool girl fragrance. It's strong-- knock your socks off when you first spray it-- but it's not heavy. It's aggressively fresh, if anything. Clean, green, and woody, with underlying warmth that rounds it out a little. As it fades out, it leaves a wonderful soft and powdery scent that soaks into the skin. My bottle is from the '80s and it smells like it in the best way possible. It taps into something equally polished, accessible, and nostalgic. It's a memory, a good memory, and your memory.

My relationships with fragrances are, well, complicated. Some just come and go and are never repurchased. Others, like this one right here, are like the one that got away. The groom that should have been mine forever. I want this so badly it almost hurts. I think I went through at least five big bottles (BTW, the bottle!!! OMG, such beauty, such simplicity!) growing up. Why. Whyyyyy is this lost in a slice of time? Why are no dupe brands recreating it? Whyyyyyy? I Love this so much. Yes, it's an 80s staple, yes it's loud, yes it's heavy, none of these things are points against it. Lauren is seriously unique and exquisite, if anyone has smelled anything close to this, please spill the beans.

I met my wife in 1980 when we were both 19 years old. We worked together for one year and became friends. Then we dated for one year, were engaged for nine months and got married. She wore Lauren when we were dating and that scent always made me smile. We were very happy together and raised two sons. Sadly, she passed away last year just before our 40th wedding anniversary. Cancer sucks! After the funeral when I was going through her dresser I found her half-filled bottle of Lauren. The smell of that bottle brought back a flood of happy memories and I started crying again. On what would have been our 40th anniversary I sprayed some Lauren on the felt back of our wedding picture that I kept on a table in our living room. Every time I went near that table I would smell the perfume and think of her. The scent was still strong on her birthday a month later and I could detect it two or three months later. Since the perfume is no longer available I will conserve that bottle and apply it to our wedding picture every year on our anniversary. I am now 64 years old. I hope that bottle will last as long as I do.
