I mean, it's old spice. It's inexpensive. It smells okay. And it lasts approximately for an hour or two. Everyone recognizes it. People will know what you're wearing. Reasons to buy would be budgetary constraints, nostalgia, frugality, or maybe you actually like it.

Legacy Secured Legacy. As I have started learning about fragrances, I have decided to research the history of some of the scents I remember from my childhood; none more prominent in my mind than Old Spice. This is the first scent that I remember. My father wore this when I was a young boy of three years old. Until just a few years ago, I had no idea that the "Old" in the name Old Spice was an adjective, not just a title. I was surprised to learn that this was the cologne aftershave that soldiers used during WWII, just 2 years after its creation. With that said, at three, I was smelling a fragrance that already had a 40-year history. The newest iteration of the fragrance is absolutely the shadow of its former self. It's soft and doesn't last long on my skin, but there is enough of its DNA left to remind me of this fragrance from my youth. Smell is linked to memory, and Old Spice has a strong legacy. I have shared this fragrance with my sons, and one day, maybe they will share it with theirs.

It’s the carnation! The carnation makes this stuff so unique. This fragrance is a living testament to a fashion for carnation scents that was thriving 100 years ago and now is barely holding on. It’s a cool, mushroomy, spiced scent and has nothing to do with the current vogue in young men’s colognes for acid colored, high octane juice that looks like it should be showering down in a movie theater slushie machine.

I usually don’t wear it. Once in a while I put some on my wrists, and is thrown down memory lane, revisiting my grandparents apartments and all their love.

Honestly, I don't know what to say about this. My father, many years ago, used to wear this in the fifties. It smelled fantastic on him. I don't know if they changed the formula or it's my skin, but it smells horrible in ways I cannot even begin to describe. It has been the only frag and I mean only, since even I admit to trying some pretty bad frags in my time, for more than one person to suggest to never wear it again. There is something completely nauseating about it.

Aromatic spicy floral. Timeless. Oldschool. The most versatile fragrance ever in the history FOR A MAN.

I love it! Fresh spicy, soft spicy, a little bit powdery. Can be worn any season. Just wish it lasted a bit longer but hey that's what they make refillable atomizers for 🙂

When I was in high school I switched to Old Spice deodorant because I thought it would help me pick up girls. I used Fiji at first, but in college I smelled the Original and fell in love. I do not have this fragrance, but I will get my hands on it someday. Trust me.

This is the holy grail of fragrances to me, I remember my dad wearing it and now in 2026 I wear it just with a different name, unfortunately, when Shulton sold the name and formula to P&G, they cheapen it and it simply does not smell the same, yes it still smells like Old Spice Original but you can tell that something is missing, well I got into investigating to see if I could get me the original and is next to impossible but I found a way, there's three ways you can get it, one is by buying it from India, they still use the Shulton formula, another is to get it from Barrister and Mann product name is Reserve Spice and the third way which is the way I get mine is with Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements (PAA) product name is Outer Spice and to my opinion they were able to recreate the original formula, the second you smell it is as if you were at the factory itself where they're making it. That's why I said I wear it with a different name, because it is the same formula, just a different name.

I’m not sure why I love this fragrance so much, but I just do. I’m 17 but I think i’d wear this.

Your grandpa likely wore this at some point. Probably when his bottle of Polo ran out but I have to say I don't hate it. Maybe it's because I'm a dad now too and the Unc energy has been passed down to me. To my wife's dismay I do get a surprising number of comments on this one when I wear it. These come from all types younger, middle age, old. Definitely a crowd pleaser barbershop scent

More like a EDT version of the [ Diptyque 34 Boulevard Saint Germain EDT ], same genre, same DNA, same Opening, same dry down.

I remember a guy I knew who overapplied this once and it was HUGE......Old Spice is a wonderful Oriental. Can be had always for cheap. What more can I say of this one?

I am a woman and like to wear the solid classic deodorant. I finally purchased a bottle of the cologne for myself because I enjoy the fragrance so much and I wanted a stronger scent experience. At first spray I thought I had made a big mistake. It smelled nothing like the deodorant. However, after a few moments it settled into itself and I was very pleased. I have loved this scent my entire life. It is a keeper.

A warm, manly fragrance. Perfect for the cooler months. This is for the man who is sitting with a mulled wine after a day of splitting firewood. It’s for the man with calluses and a classic pick-up truck. Great for a day of ice fishing or an afternoon in the pub. Not the strongest sillage but enough to draw someone in for a better whiff.

This seems to be on a comeback tour, and I'm all for it. Fresh, spicy, woody, sweet, and truly classic. It's an Eau de Cologne so spray a couple more than usual. I would also say it doesnt smell exactly like it used to, but the general concept is still there. Works for Fall, Winter, Spring and would probably work for the cooler summer days and nights. Don't buy it at CVS for like $12-15, go get it at Walmart for $10.

Well, I am no professional and don’t know much about note breakdowns. Just know that every time I use this it uplifts my mood, makes me feel confident.

My uncle who hasn't seen me since I was baby asked my mom what I was into and brought me this for Christmas. It was a pleasant surprise and I did spray it to try once I got home. I had an aftershave splash bottle when I was like 12 (14 years ago) and I was looking forward to smelling it since I remember really liking it. This spray bottle smells like church to me. I don't really smell this often anymore but it screams church lol. Its not bad. Its a pleasant scent I cant imagine wearing this over a bottle I already own while going out but I can see myself spraying this on after a shower and shave like other reviews say. I dont think this is anything special but it has history attached to it.

Анонім★★★★★

Still holds as a brilliant invention of a scent, the fact that this list of notes works as a refreshing aftershave and stood the test of time is spectacular, I just wish people could do objective reviews it seems everyone's preconceptions and personal issues shape their opinions a bit too much but the fact is no one else cares for those really (@BlackPhillip1349). This is mainly used as an aftershave for Christ's sake.. Yes we have smelled this a million times before all I wanted to say is that what I got at the store last week smells still good in it's current form. I would be interested to have a blind test with someone that hasn't smelled this before and see what's up.

A grand old gentleman's fragrance. It is bottled history. There was once a time where men wearing perfume would grant them the label of "poofter". Old Spice saw a gap in the market and set sail towards it. Classed as an aftershave, this was an acceptable way to smell, back in the old days, after removing hair from your face. It has a pleasant familiarity about it, probably because it is somewhat of an iconic scent in the UK. Very much of it's time, I often smell this on older gentlemen, as they walk past me, on their way to a big night out at their local Working Men's Club (a misogynistic, often dirty place with dart boards and sticky floors, where men of yesteryear can buy very cheap beer and moan about stuff, for those who do not know what a Working Men's Club is). I am waiting for Old Spice to give itself a massive re-brand, but it seems to be quite happy with it's customer base, chugging along in discount stores for hardly any penny pounds. Flightier than a football hooligan when the rozzers turn up, don't expect longevity from it. Just appreciate it for what it is; a relic of times gone by. Just try not to think of it's disgusting masculine overtones... 4/10. I just can't bring myself to go any higher.

after becoming fascinated by the scents of yesteryear and reading and hearing so much about this old classic fragrance online, it peaked my curiosity. especially since it's been rumored to have been Elvis' signature scent. i bought the aftershave version of it from a super market. 1938 was 87 years ago, so this is for sure the oldest cologne i have ever tried. the opening is not the most pleasant. i got alot of the pimento and nutmeg in the opening. it was very intense. but, the drydown is not bad. the super spicy notes fade into the background a bit and i get some aquatic vibes. which makes sense due to a sailboat being the brand's symbol. not as barbershoppy of a scent as i was expecting it to be and hoping for it to be, but still a pretty nice fragrance especially for such a low price update: i bought more bottles of this. i am really starting to dig this cologne. it's a scent that really grows on you over time

Review of 1980 Old Spice "Long Lasting" Cologne: Yet another vintage, this one has the red lettering above the ship and a blue and gold band around the logo on the box. I've always liked eighties Old Spice, maybe because of nostalgia (I was born in 1981), and this was frequently smelled on people and in living rooms growing up. Eighties Old Spice has a little more cinnamon and nutmeg in it, and the balance of vanilla and musk is perfect in the base. The musk has a very slight snarly nature, like a microdot of Kouros inserted in there to lend it that eighties air. But you really have to search to smell that. Of all the vintages, this one is my favorite, and from memory of other eighties bottles I owned a while ago, things got even brighter and sparkled more as the decade went on. Coca-Cola brightness, if you will.

Review of 1992 Proctor & Gamble Old Spice "Original": Surprisingly, this vintage formula of the cologne isn't very different from what P&G has been putting out more recently. Despite what a lot of guys in wetshaver forums have been saying (they decry the supposedly disastrous P&G reformulation since its introduction in plastic bottles), I smell virtually no difference between new and old. Aside from being darker in color and a mite bit sweeter in the base (and arguably a little "fresher" due to a sort of ambergris-style white musk), I sense not much change. If you bought Old Spice in 1992 or bought it in 2020, you're basically getting the same stuff. Interesting.

Smells like almost at middle age but not quite there yet. Like late 30s. Smells like that😂 I'll need to buy a bottle to remember the smell exactly. I can kind of get it in my head if i think hard but this was a long time ago.😂😂😂 idk why I bought it. Probably cause I was young, broke, and it was cheap.😂 I do remember it smelling mature aswell. Sweet/slightly fresh, but mature.

I don't know which version, I have... "After Shave", grey star cap, clipper ship on the front,...but alas, the bottle is plastic. Anyway, I know I smelled this long ago, and I what I'm smelling now seems similar. The opening does have quite a citrusy, aldehydic kick to it. (For one brief second, it irrationally evokes Chanel No. 5!) ..but then cinnamon and clove-carnation take over. This is clearly the heart of traditional Old Spice. ...bu then even the spices fade, ...the drydown becomes lightly floral, with a base of musk, amber, and wood. I thought this was going to be overbearing, ...but it's surprisingly delicate on the blotter. (I'm probably remembering an act of extreme over-application.) ...and now its even become a vintage artifact for those who seek anachronistic novelties. And, if you'd prefer an 'intense flanker', consider Pierre Cardin Pour Monsieur.

i unapologetically digg it, it's a legend for a reason. only negative is that you would pay around 17$ for it in Norway when it cost 8 or 7 in grocery stores in the us. i bought my bottle at sparkjøp.

This was the preferred number one fragrance choice of Mr Elvis Presley. Fact. Make of that what you will. Personally, I've always hated it. Always did. Probably always will. I guess i just smelt it too many times on too many people in too many places over too many years.

Анонім★★★★★

An old school spicey musky floral amber vibe. I can understand why it was first marketed to women with the aldehydes and vanilla but it still smells manly.
