Grey Vetiver

This and the Parfum are my go-to signature scents. I refer to this as what Chanel Platinum Egoiste used to be for me in the early 1990's. The original Chanel Platinum Egoiste formula, that is. It wakes you up, it motivates you, and it makes you feel even more confident. I think this is Tom Ford's greatest fragrance creation. You cannot go wrong with the Parfum or the Eau De Parfum.

9.3/10 Smells a bit like a dry white wine. Very airy vetiver with citrus, the grapefruit really comes through. Very high quality.

Smells great but either I'm going nose blind or it's completely gone in 2 hours, which is a huge bummer. I'm a clothing sprayer, btw. It's very bright, light, and clean. Citrus without smelling like cleaning products and a very clean smelling vetiver. Edit: over 12 hours after spraying and it actually is still there on my shirt after I got home from work, but it's an extremely close smell. I would say skin scent, but... It's not actually on my skin. I wonder if I should've gotten the parfum to see if the oak moss note helped with projection, but it may have made the scent a little too heavy. I'll continue wearing the EDP and wishing I could smell it all day

veeeeeerryyy bitter and potent, the experience of smelling this is similar to tasting espresso for the first time ever as a non-coffee drinker, you will probably recoil from the smell if you're used to safe mass appealing fragrances definitely not for everyone and I don't see it being "office safe" at all like a lot of reviews claimed it to be, the only context I see this to be "office appropriate" is if you were an athoritarian dictatorial boss aged 50+ that regularly terrorizes everyone around him at work I tried showing the smell to a lot of people, almost all of them reacted negatively with their faces told me that it's "very unpleasant"

I find Grey Vetiver EDP fascinating. Its character is so strong, i have to be in the right mood to wear it. Never experienced anything like this scent. Very sophisticated, not for teenagers, perhaps better the older you get? Wouldn’t be surprised if this ended up becoming my signature scent in the long run. Clearly, another Tom Ford masterpiece.

Currently my signature scent. Grey Vetiver EDP is fresh, it's clean, it's citrusy, it's a fantastic day time, warm weather scent that I think can work in pretty much any environment. For me, the Citrus notes are strong when you first spray, but they dry down and become a lot softer quite quickly. Surprisingly though for a fresh scent like this, it has good longevity. I get a good 6-8 hours of this before the scent dissipates. A fantastic scent that I think is my current favorite from Tom Ford

This one is tricky for me. At first it's awful. Smell of crisp linen mixed with starchy white rice, very sterile and intense, and not all that pleasant. But wait a long two hours and it turns into the most mesmerising citrusy vetiver smell that it calming and absolutely addictive. A+

Fine, just forgettable...Mostly pointless.

I’ve fallen back in love with this perfume after so many years. It is simply a great, effortless daytime fragrance for men, white shirts, linen, long lunches and views of the beach. Amazing.

EDIT: Love it or hate it, there aren't many perfumes out there with this precision and quality. After wearing this on clothes, it behaves completely differently. My skin does not do well with fragrances, and it works much better on my shirt. My update is that most things have stayed the same. On skin, I get a little more of that musk and lavender. This may sound weird: it feels warm, almost like old Baby Shampoo. Lavender, powdery musk, I think rose, and then some of the lily of the valley, but not overbearing. This was my initial review below: For me, this is definitely classy and mature (although not ultra-mature, old man). If you think of dated fragrances, such as that Lalique Pour Homme (Lion's head bottle) or something like Nikolai Patchouli, it doesn't march into that dense and heavy, or old territory. I get a dose of high-quality lavender at the top, some bell pepper, and some clear citrus (the grapefruit, to me, isn't stealing the stage here). After that initial pop, I get the masculine white florals and some woods. It develops into a creamy kind of sandalwood (sweetened delicately so that you won't detect any sweetness, but you know it's there smoothing out some of the harsher woods). Some ISO E, creamy lavender, masculine linen-like florals, and nice musk. The dry down gets a bit powdery. Vetiver? Downsides: to me it feels very lackluster, but it could just be that it doesn't work with my skin chemistry (this is exactly right and it's why I put the edit above). It doesn't develop much past what I've described. Sits very intimately on the skin and doesn't really make its presence known. A doctor could wear this in his office and not bother anyone. I see this frag for a gentleman and office worker in their mid 30s+. I don't get a dirty, unpalatable earthiness here, no weird leather note coming through the base. To me, it's good, but it's not exciting. And lastly, I'm not sure how much vetiver is actually in here...my bottle is from 2024 so do with that what you will.

One of my favorite perfumes of all time, can be worn in any occasion or time, it is elegant, welcoming, smooth, citrusy, balanced. Projection and longevity are great. Well worth its price, it's magical!

Classy, clean, professional, safe for all occasions and all seasons. Whereas Terre de Hermes and Guerlain Vetiver make the vetiver+citrus combo and earthy warmth, Grey Vetiver comes with crisp iciness. I like all three variants (Parfum, EdP, EdT) but this one (EdP ) strikes the perfect middle ground between summer freshie and weightiness. And it has great projection and longevity. Love, love, love.

To me, it is the smell of childhood happiness. I think this is still the only fragrance that instantly brought back an old childhood memory. There is a holiday called Saint Nicholas Day, when children wake up in the morning and find gifts from their parents. For me, this scent feels exactly like that atmosphere: waking up early in winter, while it is still dark outside. There is this quiet sense of mystery and magic in the air. Next to you, there is a brand-new plastic bag filled with fruit, citrus, and candies. And somehow it smells fresh, citrusy, slightly plastic, clean, and festive. Grey Vetiver itself is a pleasant fragrance: fresh, clear, polished, and composed. But because it instantly brought up such a vivid inner image, it became much more than just a good perfume to me. It is the scent of a holiday. The scent of clarity. The scent of a morning where magic still feels possible.

Right, fresh story. No script, just off the cuff. Pure philosophy. So, I’m in the staff room, right? Just chilling out, drinking a cup of coffee, showing the team that I’m not just an authority figure in a suit—I’m a friend first, boss second, probably entertainer third. And Tim Canterbury looks at me and says, "David, why do you bother? Why stay in Slough?" I leaned back. Looked him dead in the eye. Deep. I said, "My world does not end with these four walls. Slough’s a big place. When I’ve finished with Slough, there’s Reading, Aldershot, Bracknell. Didcot, Yateley. You know. Winnersh. Taplow. Because I am my own boss. Burghfield." Then Finchy walks in. Big Chris Finch. Instantly reads the room. He looks at my Tom Ford bottle, looks at me, and goes, "Fucking hell, Brent. You smell like a fancy dynamic vicar who’s about to sedate a choirboy." He’s terrible! Absolutely mental. No filter. I laughed it off. I said, "It’s clean, Finchy. It opens with grapefruit and orange blossom, then dries down to a rich, woody oakmoss. It’s sophisticated." Finchy leans over Dawn’s desk, winks at her, and shouts across the room, "I’ll tell you how sophisticated it is. I bet if David wore that to a local authority planning meeting, the mayor would let him build a multi-story car park right on top of his wife’s grave just to get a closer sniff. It’s a violation of the senses!" Right... obviously we don't joke about municipal corruption or desecration of graves, HR-wise that’s a bit of a minefield... but within a creative bullpen environment, it’s... it’s just boundary-pushing. It’s modern. 9/10

Perfumery at its best, a fresh clean long lasting perfume, you will constantly get whiffs of it and the scent trail is excellent, an easy 10/10

Grey Vetiver is the consummate "corporate armor." It is sharp, corporate, completely inoffensive, and utterly reliable for boardrooms, formal events, or any occasion where you need to project quiet confidence and precision. If you are looking for a wild, avant-garde art piece, this isn't it. But if you want a timeless, masculine signature that commands respect without uttering a single loud word, it is a flawless addition to a well-curated wardrobe.

This is fantastic stuff, extremely classy, clean, irisy vetiver. Looking back over the reviews here, I'm surprised that the iris-ionone quality of Grey Vetiver isn't more commented on, because it's honestly the standout element for me. Vetiver and iris. Earthy, yet suave and beautifully put together. I struggle to find hot weather "freshies" that don't have a headache-inducing ambroxan overdose to them, but this seems to fill that niche, and it's never inappropriate. I'd probably not wear it with t-shirt and shorts, but it'll go nicely with just about anything else.

Indeed a concoction worthy of its name. It is very similar to Guerlain’s iconic Vetiver, but like you took most of the colours away and ended up with exactly a Grey Vetiver scent. Some will prefer it, because it is a good scent and it might be true that Guerlain’s original will be more of an acquired taste for the contemporary public. Personally I find it to be a shame, because the original has very nice facets that really are lacking here. There is nothing in terms of the early morning cut grass, no tobacco, nutmeg is dialled back, and the base is a lot less multifaceted with no civet and no oakmoss. But it is undeniably a good scent still. I suggest you try both before choosing, but do wear the original at least a couple of times before deciding. As is so often the case, most will go for instant gratification unfortunately.

They done dropped so many Grey Vetiver versions but the EDT still hits the best to me. Fresh, clean, airy, and the projection is just right. Definitely a vetiver you gotta try alongside Diptyque Vetyverio Eau de Toilette 😉

Opening is extremely harsh and dry, not necessarily in a bad way. Very quickly the sharp vetiver, which is the selling point, bleeds off into a very soft scent that is much more pleasant but difficult to detect. Very mature fragrance in the opening, which I can see the appeal to, but the scent dies so quickly I can't possibly recommend anyone purchase it. Personally I'd save my money and go for a fragrance with better performance.

Don't hate me for this but no one can tell the difference when I'm wearing this or L’Eau d’Issey pour Homme Vetiver when I'm at work. I'm sure at home, spray compared to spray, you can but not in the wild. The TF is definitely richer and more intriguing. However I'm pleased I only bought a decant. It's nice but it's mid and hyped.........sorry!

Bright white-floral vetiver. Gentlemanly. Business casual to formal. Most approachable vetiver fragrance I've tried. Longevity is slightly below average. 7.5/10

This is a masterpiece. Office signature. But Tom Ford is a poor cash grab brand now.

It's a lovely fragrance, but don't reward this brand for producing a terribly performing scent. Save your money.

I wore this to the office today and I’ve never gotten so many compliments on a scent before! People wanted to hang out in my office just so they can keep smelling me haha! The citrus is effervescent but creamy and the vetiver is just right. This is definitely a great people pleasing scent.

Roja Vetiver cologne is much fluffier and playful than this scent so I like that one much more. This is fine and classic.

I was starting to build real interest about this cologne. Reading all the comments here and watching all the videos on YouTube, instagram, etc. I almost blind bought it until I was patient enough to smell my friend’s bottle. So glad I waited. This is not blind buy safe. I’m new to the vetiver dominant world but if this is vetiver, vetiver is not for me. At first sniff, this reminds me of a scented version Raid bug spray. Not a bad scent, but not something I’d want to smell like.

Very, very mature. Definitely unisex. I wouldn't use this if you're under 20. 4/10
