I Love this fragrance. After years of painfully searching for my signature scent, it ends at Tsar. Thousands of dollars and a hundred or so bottles, the search finally ends. Of course it's discontinued, fml. Hmu if you have a bottle for sale or trade. I have a lot.

No lie, the dry down of this (the older versions, never smelled the re-release) smells very similar to Right Guard "Fresh Scent" deodorant

@R.Katani78 I've came across several bottles in perfume shops here in America going for <$75USD but this was around the pandemic of 2020. All of a sudden they are incredibly hard to find and an arm and a leg if you come across one online.

Hello, I have been looking for this fragrance for quite a long time and I can't find it anywhere in Bulgaria. Does anyone have this fragrance, not the new one, but the old version, the original, and if so, at what price? I am asking for this fragrance, I am a connoisseur of this classic.

This is the cologne that Vladimir Putin uses according to google.

Bought a bottle while vacationing on a greek island. It had been sitting on a shelf since 2011. All i can say is that it's the ultimate green foresty scent. I love the fact that it's an old school scent but totally contemporary. I find it far superior to jazz and although i was going to sell it for some quick cash, i decided to keep it and smell like the king of the forest.

Another barber scent with nothing interesting to offer. In my opinion, there’s no point in looking here. It’s another matter that I don’t fully distinguish TSAR from Pour Homme. In any case, both are lousy, worse than, for example, Azzaro. I reject both.

If you love Tsar, and you happen to be in France, buy the men body wash Energise extrait de cèdre (brown bottle) from Ushuaia brand. It smells very similar 😉 It is available in any supermarket, even in convenience store In Paris like Monoprix …

It’s been re-released! The fragrance is available exclusively for now at the Van Cleef & Arpels Salon de Parfums, located in Place Vendôme. They’re currently sold out, but it should become more widely available at select retailers in the coming months. Edit: the Salon de Parfums VCA boutique in Paris has this available right now but in boutique only.

@ziadzman Dua's Emperor's Elixir is over 90% same in the drydown.

Does anybody know if there is a clone or anything that smells like it? My uncle passed away and he use to always wear this so it would be nice to get this or something similar to this.

My dad used to have the vintage dark green bottle one back in the 90s and I had the newer one with the clear bottle and copper colored top and base it's a very masculine scent on both, but the vintage was way stronger, very floral, very elegant and mature, as for the newer it kept the same scent but less strong and a little fresher, making it a little more versatile (my ratings here are for the vintage) Back in the day this was a regular priced fragrance, I'd say under the 100 US mark but now that it's been discontinued, the prices have gone all the way up bor both the 00s version and the 80s-90s version.

Had this one on my white whale list for awhile now. Caved and picked up an overpriced vintage little splash bottle. It's like you walked into God's Barbershop in the middle of a celestial forest during the vernal equinox as the smell of pine tree and moss starts to become augmented by the incoming spring flowers while the earthy loam permeates throughout. Beautiful fragrance unbound by time.

This fragrance turns heads. I own two bottles of the good stuff—one from before 2000 (in the classic green, malachite-like bottle) and another in very dark green glass, likely from the mid-2000s. Price-wise, I paid close to what the latest version of Tsar retails for today. Yes, it’s still available, but you’ll have to travel to Paris, France, and then take a train—quite literally. And honestly? The trip might just be worth it. Tsar smells green, mossy—refined rather than dank, with a powdery hint of moss that adds elegance. Imagine a deep, dark green forest with a soft mist of moss in the air. I haven’t smelled anything quite like it, and I absolutely love it. Longevity is solid, but it becomes exponential when sprayed on wool. I’ve spritzed it on my Aran wool sweaters, and the scent lingers for weeks. It also garners attention. More than once, people have caught a whiff and tried to figure out what they were smelling. Either it’s the fragrance, or I’ve suddenly transformed into a ridiculously handsome man overnight. I suspect the latter is less likely. If you get the chance to own a bottle, don’t hesitate. Prices on eBay are absurd, and no one should pay what some sellers are asking. I’ve had better luck on other platforms—decent deals pop up from time to time. But with Tsar, patience pays off. Dua's Emperor Elixir is a very good clone of this, if you can't afford a bottle. It's over 95% Tsar on the dry down and I'd argue it's stronger than Tsar. I have two bottles of EE to keep me from spraying too much of the original. Original will be reserved for dates, important life events, etc.

I have Emperor's Elixir, Dua's version of Tsar, and I love it! I have never smelled the original either.

If you're looking for this and the price is alittle too steep for your pocket book. DUA Fragrances @ theduabrand.com, has a good clone of this. I've never smelled the OG but from what I heard, it's a pretty spot on. The name of this clone is called: Emperor's Elixir. Thank me later & Happy Hunting

This has a really interesting opening but the dry down becomes extremely dated. I'm in my 30s, I have a family, I don't mind "mature" scents. I'm just not a fan of cheesy 80s carnation scents. Unless you're a fan of this, i can't justify the new price tag due to the discontinuation. I don't usually do this but I have a 50ml at 80% I'd be willing to trade.

I just received an brand new, sealed bottle of Tsar from 1998 (Adipar distributor) it was expensive as hell, but it's worth every cent. this is the epitome of Aromatic Fougères, you simply can't get better than this. it's a shame how reformulations ruins these masterpieces, when possible i will try to get another vintage bottle.

This is currently available in a newer style bottle about €160 under Les Classiques Line. Problem is it's only sold at the Paris Train Station Boutique for VC&A. It's only to be bought in person.

I finally got myself a bottle - over the moon. Decent price too. I do find my bottle of Epic man Amouage to be a very niche version of the original Tsar Beautiful bottle - I think if Van cleef released this now they would defo get away with charging £190 upwards but because it’s old and this was once a really affordable fragrance it just seems like insane pricing for a 80s powerhouse but overall I’m a happy guy with my purchase

Not gonna lie...this is the cologne that got me into colognes, from just picking up whatever name seemed familiar and was cheapest. One of the sexiest women I've ever known told me that TSAR made her wet...and, proved it to me, after she firmly reiterated that I needed to acquire some, ASAP! The confidence I had in wearing it, after knowing that it had met her seal of approval, seemed to always accompany me, and, I received countless compliments on it. Was pretty crushed, when I could no longer get my hands on it.

I like old elegant perfumes full of history that tell a story this one takes me back in time. It makes you act like an alpha male, confident and slightly arrogant. I love wormwood well used in potions mixed with slightly spiced cloves that softens the oakmoss, it's nice

As a young man I used to wear Escada PH as my signature scent. Loved the comfort it offered, and the quality of the scent utilising so many different notes. When it was discontinued, and became harder to find/ unaffordable Tsar became my go-to as I found it sophisticated in a similar fashion albeit being a much fresher smelling juice. I quickly fell in love with it. It never fails to lift my mood. It’s a classy, green eyed, blonde beauty in a velvet dress. Cat-like and quiet. I don’t love lavender in a perfume but combined with tarragon, lily of the valley et al. and enriched with warmer resinous notes, and bitterness of vetiver, it is taken to a whole new level in this masterpiece. It’s like waking up on the Siberian meadow in July, leaving your tent and walking through the wooded path full of ancient conifers, towards the fresh cool breath of the Lake Baikal and taking a dip (my personal experience which Tsar evokes). This a descendant of (not necessarily similar to) Eau Sauvage, Aramis, Santos, and my beloved Escada. A true marvel of a scent. Sadly it shares Escada’s fate… I should better stock up on Jermyn Street by Floris as it’s what I like to use to save the precious stash of Tsar.
