Versace Man

I had this in my early 20's from memory so probably 20-22 years ago now. From what I can remember, it was a soft, gentle, sweet fragrance, quite unique smelling though, not at all loud, definitely one that I would've sprayed many times on each wear to try and ramp up the performance. What I would give to smell it again as it was back then to see what memories it would evoque. I also remember the animal skin leather effect on the box which lifted off at the top if I recall correctly. I wouldn't even ask to own it again, just a quick sniff as a reminder would do me fine!

Absolutely love this stuff 10/10. This stuff is very dry, very spicy. I’m not sure how to describe it but it’s heavy but floats beautifully and lightly in the air. This is a very unique but stunning fragrance. The scent profile is similar to The Noir by Le Labo but completely different (dry hay, tobacco).

Finally got a hold of this! I did not even care about this in 2007 - Man Eau Fraiche is the hype then. This is a concoction with strong presence of tobacco and saffron, which I came to appreciate in the later days of my fragrance journey. Cardamom as well has good presence on my skin at least. I wore it few times, and it seems that this really changes depending on the mood/day/skin conditions. One day, this will be heavy with spicies, and the other I smell citrus presence more. Amazing longevity and projection. Luxurious. VPH Oud Noir does not smell like this imo.

They discontinued this and kept the garbage eau fraiche version. Way to go

FINALLY tracked down a bottle after searching for years for one that wasn't ridiculously overpriced. Wow, this is instant date night material. Masculine. Liquid confidence in a bottle. If you find a bottle of this, buy it immediately if you're into the 90s and 2000s classics, ie, M7, Gucci Envy, Rive Gauche Pour Homme, etc. Versace Oud Noir is not a replacement for this. 8.5/10

Versace Man Versace (2003) is among my top 3, all-time. In short, it represents mystery, virility, narcissism (not mental illness, but self-esteem), dignity, luxury, and velvet. I don't know why a fragrance this beautiful is being discontinued. As for Evoke Midnight Edition Ajmal, the similarity is 30% lasting less than 10 minutes. Evoke Midnight Edition Ajmal then takes on a spicy, warm, and strong flavor, then walks away from VM2003. Versace Man 2003 rests on/dries down on a luxurious woody base (close to the woodiness of Versace Man "Eau Fraiche"). What makes VM2003 very special is the heart notes and the base note: Heart: Saffron & Cardamom (usually saffron has a velvety, gloomy effect, but here the cardamom gives the saffron dynamism and vigor.) Base: Tobacco, Amber, Cashmere Wood, Labdanum (Taking into account that Labdanum gives off an amber scent, this enhances the ambery note in the perfume, and gives it depth) Don't be fooled by the fact that this fragrance is in eau de toilette concentration, because its silage and longevity are great, more than the usual perfume concentration. Please, Ladies & Gents, if you know good clones/dupes for this (besides Versace Pour Homme Oud Noir), let us know.

Very dry and spicy, not for me. ...did i mention it's VERY dry? Yeah not for me, not one bit! 6/10 i found this to be too dry

This is really good. Moist, delicious, not “ashy”, more earthy. It’s like moist tobacco with sparkly edges, it’s like this tobacco that has a sparkle to it and as it dries it becomes richer. It starts off like you were hanging with the boys having a cigar but without the extra smoke, though it’s slightly smoky at first. It’s intense raw tobacco at first. But again there’s a sparkle to it all. This is the best designer tobacco. From a time when there was money in designer. It is dark yet shiny/crystalline. Like old money smell with a fresh edge. If you don’t like it then it’s not for you but that’s what makes it great, it’s for a confident grown man. The dry down is really really good. Best part. I would choose this over anything Tom ford or anything else niche tobacco any day. Why? Because it’s office safe.

Its ok a bit dated, much more than the Friache. Saw a guy complaining about a fragrance being ashy tobacco, this one his favorite apparently and it is the most ashy tobacco scent iv smelled

One of the most manly and classy sillages ever created for a certain type of man. This is the scent you wear as an entrepreneur when meeting a venture capitalist to fund your soon to be 100 million dollar enterprise. One whiff of this demonstrates to others you know what the fuck you're doing and there's no stopping you.

One of the best perfumes ever created. for me this smells like spicy, boozy tobacco. it gives me cigar club vibes. extremely sexy, masculine and addictive. I was mesmerized when I first smelled this on friend in 2005 and started using it ever since. so disappointed that a masterpiece like this is no longer in production. Some local stores here in the middle east still have a few pieces left selling for crazy prices (over $200) luckily, I was able to find one new in box for around $170 and immediately pulled the trigger. still worth every penny. By the way, it smells nothing like Oud Noir or Magnetism as suggested by some people.

Update 2025: Backup bottle secured for $60. Don’t think I’ll find it again after this. All time favorite. Intoxicating blend, with tobacco, cardamom, and saffron at the forefront. Suitable for cooler weather and summer nights. Worth $80 and under. 10/10

Versace Man is in the same ballpark as Amouage Journey Man. I can put them in the spicy/peppery tobacco category. Amouage is much deeper and more complex, but the pleasure factor is for Versace. Far away from the modern taste , might be even considered niche these days. I rarely use it nowadays but it`s great for cigar night.

This is Darkness..... Its rough Tobacco backed by a root-like Earthiness from a note of Angelica. Darkened by Black Pepper, & Leathery nuances provided by Saffron. Subtly spiced with Cardamom, & all resting on a base of Amber & Labdanum. Versace Man smells like a sophisticated Vampire who stepped outside to smoke a Marlboro in the Fall air. I'm sooooooo disappointed in the House of Versace for discontinuing this fragrance.

This is a lovely fragrance. It’s a fresh and light take on tobacco with minimal (perfect amount) of sweetness. In our current diabetic state of fragrances this fresh and spices take on a tobacco is very welcomed. This fragrance is a conundrum. It is both a fresh and spiced fragrance and at the same time a smooth and deep amber. Almost as if you can smell two separate layers at the same time. One moment it’s fresh and breeze then the next wif you get is smooth, sweet, and cozy.

Fantastic fragrance. For me its all about the tobacco, saffron and amber. This along with a soft woody base and some freshness up top just works. Sadly its no longer available. Performance is okay. 8,8/10

Why Versace would discontinue an absolute perfection..

Sampled today, definitely unique I got Smokey tobacco leather with spices very interesting better than anything I’ve smelt lately If it wasn’t for me having ombré leather I might have copped

I revisited this after years of forgetting it.. Such a smooth and elegant spicy manly scent.. Perfect balance at a sweet-dry borderline.. A masterpiece in comparison to the current synthetic garbage that all companies are releasing these days. I bought it years ago along with Versace oud noir and was upset that they are very similar.. but now I feel I had under-appreciated this beauty..

This scent opens up with a clean freshness, with a medicinal feel. Along with the fresh, clean and medicinal vibe, I also get some subtle spice and some gentle woods. The clean freshness coming from the neroli and bergamot, with the spice coming from the cardamom and pepper. The opening has this nuance of a smokey wet shisha which develops in the heart, where the starts to become richer, with some added sweet and warm amber, it also loses its clean freshness from the opening, and becomes slightly darker, with the grape shisha vibe becoming more pronounced. As it evolve into the drydown the scent becomes spicer with the safrron and tobacco dominating the composition, with the intoxicating resinous sweet amber in the background providing comforting smoothness to the blend, with a touch of powderiness also. The fragrance is mostly like this for the duration of the scent, however in the very last few stages the spiciness of tobacco and saffron do calm down, with the a very warm sweet vanilla like amber then finishing off the scent. In terms of performance, longevity was around 8 hours on my skin, with projection excellent for the first 6 hours after which it sits closer to the skin. This is a lovely warm scent, perfect for night time wear during the fall and winter. In terms of occasions this would be perfect for date nights, formal, nights out, and casual wearings.
