I’ll pay $50 for Dua’s Hidden Gem and get 98% of the way there and pass on the extra $500 to get the last 2%.
I have almost full bottle for sale, in europe.
Apparently this is the new Romeo Gigli por Uomo.... which is great. Except that I CAN'T FIND THIS ANYWHERE! Send Halp!
If I could get this fragrance easily, at a decent price, this would most likely be my signature scent. I love this stuff, it was my signature scent , but now I have very less of this amazing juice! It is soooo gooooood. Is there anything similar to this ?
Without a doubt one of the best masculines ever, my signature and favourite fragrance
Maybe we can petition FOMO to make this their next release given that they’ve been giving us discontinued stuff from this era!
So sad that this beauty is Discontinued! why I don’t know why but maybe because the bad sprayer cap:) we never know the reason. One of the best scent ever smelled. For sure an Antidote. This is all year round but it shines especially in the springtime one of the best scent ever for that time. Also shares similarity with the middle/basenotes of the vintage La nuit. Pierre wargnye did both of them. Many notes but perfect balanced 10/10. And very unique also.
From when it came out every sprayer was broke...
I am absolutely baffled by some of the reviews, I guess different people get wildly different experiences from fragrances. Someone below likens it to a freshly laundered white shirt, for me it couldn't be any further away from this. It's a beautiful, sexy, date night fragrance, definitely not office safe and something that divides opinion. It's probably gotten me the most compliments but I also know people who really dislike it. On another note, I've had a total of 3 bottles and the spray has broken on all 3, just me or has anyone else had this??
My good I love this fragrance. Why do they always discontinue the unique and beautiful fragrances? I did my usual run around all shops that I do, whenever I am looking for a new scent, smelling literally everything they have, until I find something that sticks out. Way back in 2007, at my local Fenwick's store. This was it. A dreamy, incense quality to it but never sickly. If anyone knows of anything that is produced in the UK, that is similar (or a strong clone) please let me know.
DUA's Hidden Gem does get you there.
This was my signature scent from 2006 to 2008 when it was still available at Bloomingdale’s. I held onto the original bottle I purchased back then, cherishing the last few quarter-sprays left. Though nearly empty, I safeguarded it, occasionally indulging in a whiff from the atomizer for a nostalgic trip down memory lane. Full-size bottles—whether new or lightly used—now command absurd prices on eBay and other resale platforms. However, after some persistence, I managed to find a legitimate auction offering authentic 2mL sample bottles at a reasonable price. I couldn't resist and picked up a few. While the scent remained true to memory, it was noticeably subdued—likely a result of age and its original EDT formulation. As another reviewer aptly noted, this fragrance would make a fantastic modern counterpart to Viktor & Rolf's Spicebomb. If V&R were to re-release it—ideally as an EDT and, even better, as an EDP—I have no doubt it would be met with strong appreciation and impressive sales.
Yes to similarity to Sage Spell, but no to Gucci Envy, they are very different. Antidote is much more fresh spicy while Envy is warm spicy! I don't understand why is it discontinued, it's not offensive and would be nice counterpoint to Spicebomb.
Incense, tonka/nilla, patchouli, amber & sandalwood are what I mainly smell. Very nice. Basically yes, a sweeter Envy… not 2024 bubblegum sweet, but as in a subdued blended manly benzoin, amber, rugged nilla type sweetness. Nothing like Original Santal. Citrus & mint are non existent. A classic gentleman’s fragrance. Moderate silage & longevity. Mysterious & alluring in a dapper way.
Nooooooo! All gone. Help.
It smells like steam ironed white shirt. Clean and elegant. Sandalwood. Mont Blanc Individuel. Original Santal Creed
Nice 'n pleasant. It's like a sweeter, more powdery Gucci Envy for Men, so that's no doubt why Carven Homme is listed as a comparison since it is considered to be a sweet Gucci Envy. But Antidote is sweeter still, which puts it closer on the path to an Amouage Reflection Man than the earthier Envy for Men. The accord stack on this page should have a "sweet" accord listed, and be placed higher in the stack than the "smoky" accord.
My second opinion... There are dozens and dozens of Spicebom, Bonbon, and Flowerbomb... flankers and flankers... and the marvellous gem ANTIDOTE is abandon no explanation! saddly discontinued: a crime!
Might be the greatest fragrance ever made for Men. Opens up with a delicious mint note, kicking in some white florals, cinnamon and spices, and settling into medley of woods, incense and vanilla that most niche fragrances only dream of accomplishing. One of a kind, and a top 5 for me. Its too bad it costs so much now, and that no one has even tried to come close to replicating it in the niche world. I save this one for special occasions, not to inherit compliments though it garners them, but for my own selfish desires. A masterpiece 9/10
I paid $75 for a 75% full bottle from another collector. It’s a lot for a bottle that was a Macys discount item 10-12 years ago but a decent price compared to today’s eBay prices. People saying this is Le Male/Gucci Envy/early 00s spicy are pretty spot on. Not that it smells exactly like those but it’s definitely a spicy, powdery, dry scent that fit on a store shelf alongside things like Gucci Homme I, YSL Rive Gauche, etc. from the early 00s. The problem was it came out about 5 years after most of those and was about to hit the 1 Million super sweet era that was to come. Lavender, spices, some tonka, and sandalwood are what really stand out to me. It has a Chanel Egoiste vibe to it. Easy to see why it was a commercial failure, was just out of step with the sweet scents to come, and why Spicebomb was a massive success. This is almost a precursor to Spicebomb, which took similar construction and sweetened it up massively and dumped the musks and other early 00s components. Longevity on my 2008 batch is easily 8-10 hours with 2-3 hours of easy projection. Great work scent. 8.0/10. Great scent but don’t bend over backwards finding it. Get the superior Egoiste.
Antidote, is one of kind men's cologne from V.R. I remember when it first came out, I found it to be too cloying. After several years, I was bored of what was coming out on the market so I went searching for Antidote. I finally found a place, so I bought it. Idk why but I found it so appealing with an opening mix of lavender with vanilla/tonka bean vib. After a good 30 minutes, I started to pick up some amber with cardamom/nutmeg blend. Floating above all those notes is several floral notes from orange blossom with freesia. Ik what mint, orange, bergamot and geranium smell like. Those notes are either so faint or so insignificant that I wasn't able to smell it at all. Longevity and Sillage are decent, last at least 6hrs+ at arms length distance. It's a shame that Spicebomb took over and this juice was left behind on a dusty shelf. Well, if you find a bottle...grab it! This juice isn't your mainstream fragrances that's out there. It's a stand alone with a unique blend of herbal/sweet vib with a solid blend of woody note. Perfect for fall/winter months, better for evening wear. Most definitely too much for office/workplace wear. 9.5/10 in my book
One of the most sexiest (if not the most) fragrances I’ve ever had in my collection and maybe one of the few I regret giving away. It’s name fits so perfectly well… it’s like you’re madly in love with someone and you need something to heals your wounds and your soul… this is it. Antidote by Viktor and Rolf. Masterpiece.
I have bottle to sell in EU. Please send me a message if you are interested.
The blast from the past. Roaring 200s’. Along with Gucci Envy and Dsquared He Wood Silver Wind. Piece of art. The 3d place among mentioned above yet.
Looking over the "pros" and I agree with most of them. 1.Enigmatic ✔️ 2.Unique (for it's time) ✔️ 3.Leads wearers out of their comfort zone. ❌ No, it's firmly in my comfort zone and super easy to wear IMO. Powdery, creamy, jasmine, lavender, slightly aromatic with a light dusting of cinnamon, nutmeg, and mint over a light leather that leaves pretty fast. It reminds me of many successful fragrances but is not a dead ringer for any of them. Reflection Man comes to mind first, then, PDM Darly, Le Male, Penhaligon's Sartorial, Original Santal (slightly) Platinum Egoist (slightly). Into the mid and the violet becomes more apparent in tandem with the sandalwood. The final drydown is still sandalwood with a touch of powdery musk, and then finally the cedar shows up. Why the hell did they discontinue this, it's fantastic! But.... longevity isn't great on my skin. By the 3.5 hour mark it can only be detected if I put my nose less than an inch from my skin. I already have vintage Le Male and Reflection Man and I'd still consider buying this but... I wouldn't pay outrageous prices for it as I'd burn through the bottle fast. Excellent creation that may have inspired many others, or been inspired by Le Male. Scent 8.5/10 Performance 3.5/10
beautiful dry down of jasmine, sandalwood & vanilla with incense & patchouli for depth. Opening is curious but dry down is stunning & gentlemanly. Discontinued. Longevity above avg, proj avg. Highly versatile. Enjoyed my sample, recommend you get one too.
It is a big loss for community Antidote should have never been discontinued. It was totally work of art which proved a designer could be more niche than the niche fragrances. I really miss that scent :(
The way I’d describe it is it’s bubble gum leather with dry cardamom on top. I thought it was pleasant but I wasn’t taken by it (thank god). 6.5/10
Smells just like regular soap. Which is not bad. But not worth this current price.
A beautiful spicy lavender with some fresh citrus aspects. Takes slight inspiration from CK Eternity and Gucci Envy, but at the end of the day, this is its own creation.
