Armani Eau Pour Homme

Pure genius: masterful, architectural daylight. Bright Sicilian lemon, sharp petigrain, and green basil radiate from a heart of fragrant nutmeg and cloves and cinnamon and carnation, all on top of a perfectly composed bone-dry, mossy, woody drydown. A structural, symphonic masterpiece: the apex of timeless Italian elegance and sophisticated masculinity. Nothing else compares. My GOAT, if only it weren't discontinued and near impossible to find now. I love this random Reddit guy's comment about this juice: "I would not wear this on a date or to a club. Repeat after me: You do not wear this to a club. You wear this when you own the f*ing club." Seriously folks, let's mobilize forces and write to Armani/L'Oréal to revive this NOW. Send letters and emails to their offices in New York, in Milan, in Paris, to say how much Armani Eau pour Homme still commands a massive, dedicated following in the fragrance community, and how now we're all forced to seek out depleted vintage bottles at ridiculous prices, or other even less fortuitous channels, but would much prefer to buy direct from Armani if we knew we were getting the legit stuff. Flood them with testimonies of how beloved this stuff actually is. Talk about it on social media. Tag it and send it to all your frag head friends. Tell Armani how shortsighted and counterproductive it is to discontinue such an iconic, historic, masculine, classic fragrance that anchored the house for so long and so well, before the fragrance industry was hollowed out by corporate cost-cutting and synthetic shortcuts. The Armani line-up now is dominated by trend-chasing trash and its flankers: either aquatic screech juice or syrupy candy glop. We need to bring back the original. Even a limited-edition heritage run, an exclusive online-only drop, or part of an Armani/Privé high-end line, reviving this scent would be such an awesome tribute to the Armani's historic legacy, a major story for fragrance media and extreme fan loyalty, as well as a massive win for Armani brand purists. On second thought, forget the limited edition nonsense. I would happily wear this every day for the rest of my life. BRING THIS BACK, ARMANI!!!

Absolute insanity that this was discontinued entirely. Getting 100% rid of the longstanding flagship "pour homme" of a house is unhinged behaviour. I genuinely prefer this to Dior Eau Sauvage, which is a fragrance I consider a 10/10, that says it all really...

Candied dry lemon with bitter bergamot, fried nutmeg and a blast of old school florals, on a base of oakmoss-vetiver-wood. Hell yes.

Vintage Cosmair review. I don't know what it is about this cologne - when I first smelled this a year or so ago I thought - yikes! That's retro (the fizzy basil clove combo) - but now after getting accustomed to the scent - I just absolutely love it. Armani Eau Pour Homme Cosmair is that weak Eau Sauvage DNA (lets be real) made richer longer lasting with that fabulous vintage Armani quality. I've jumped around different 'lemony chypres' over the years and vintage Armani EPH has been the best i've came across - it never smells 'off' at the top like other lemony chypres. Armani most likely uses a synthetic zest most likely - making this the most collectible and reliable vintage to own as the lemon zesty blast on my 25 year old bottle is as if I just sliced open a fresh lemon - its bright and energetic. Additional to that - the note breakdown beautifully transcends, smells completely natural and earthy with no stanky animalics, heavy musks, sweaty cumin, nor overly dated overly macho notes, AND lasts all day unlike Dior - it LASTS a full day 8 hours or so. I bought and quickly returned a bogus authentic Dior Eau Sauvage edt 2002 that lasted LESS than an hour - absolutely not. I've tried similar DNA'S - 1970s YSL PH edt, Even Drakkar EDT! (Not the noir flanker). They were OK - Armani EPH outshines them. Something about this scent - it's just so rich, steady, friendly, productive, and reliable. Not doing too much not doing too little. After the citrus burns off in about 30 min It actually smells like a photo realistic aged piece of furniture, a browned paged book, a retro Victorian home. A little dusty, slightly aged natural materials cared for with love - or life a safe basement you go to during a tornado, OR if you're hungry a lemony crisp basil moss salad (it could really go either way - the interesting play on clove, basil, and oakmoss really creates a fantasy nuance and reminds you or things not usually sniffable in perfumery as everything nowadays is a nauseating warm sticky ambroxan cupcake - if you're sick of that - this will be a refreshing experience.

Discontinued masterpiece. Classic fragrance that defined a gentleman until the awful reformulation by the brand. Why are they destroying best perfumes out there?

Almost impossible to find one these days. Someone got a "new" one from Ebay for $300+ and it turned out to be fake. This one is really close to the heart. Wish I could find one somewhere.

One of the greatest masculine scents from the 80s, strong citrus notes from the opening that actually stay strong in the dry down and set the mood for this fragrance. Masculine and effortless oakmoss and woody base give the backbone to this smooth italian aromatic. Good performance and well above average projection on my two bottles. I own a 2003 version and a vintage 1989 cosmair bottle. They are remarkably similar, with the cosmair bottle being a bit heavier on the oakmoss (which is to be expected due to regulations on oakmoss) and a bit deeper. But overall very similar, the 2000s reformulation is a great one and keeps the integrity of the original formula, which goes to show not all reformulations are bad. I do not have experience with more recent batches, but I heard the oakmoss is basically gone which would be very sad, as that is my favourite part of this fragrance.

I blind bought a vintage mini bottle. Armani Eau PH is in the neighborhood of Eau Sauvage EDT and Capucci PH, but I like the latter two better. It's sorta citrus and soapy. IMO, overpriced.

Epitome of living legend fresh and magnetic appealing, sure for someone mature looking can wear original of 80s

This was the gentleman champion in the late 80s to early 90s unil a new bad ass challenger stepped into the ring. Armani Eau put up a great fight but the challenger was too much of a bad ass with its black bottle, barbershop freshness and rugged edges. He of course is a living legend Drakkar Noir. Both are well past their prime but will never be forgotten by their fans.

Cosmair version is an absolutely gorgeous scent!

I definitely went in on this with a blind buy purchase with thinking this was gonna be a banger which it wasn't. After seeing this was around since 1984 that should have let me this is not the one to purchase and it smells like it's from 1984. Old

Epic Journey Into the Bottled Yonder, 118 ------------------------------------------------------- Purchased September 2019 - NOS My bottle is pictured above with the black plastics and engraved bottom. I've lost my opinion on this as I hadn't worn this much at all. It was my dad's scent and so I wanted my own Armani, never had anything by him, so I went for this one anyway. Bit of a regret since it's sort of vetiver heavy but to my nose I remember it was pine heavy with the oak moss runner-up on strength. Lemon is also heavy. That's all I have to say. Extremely overpriced, double the amount paid for my 50 mL. Batch: 38FD03 from December 2009.

Very retro manly no nonsence fragrance

I love this scent. My dad used to wear it. I got a vintage bottle for a total steal at a used clothing boutique. Now I wear it.

Tried it for a single day but scent did not grow on me. Returned the bottle immediately. Smells like an old man in his 70's (I´m currently 45!). Not yet! Probably will use it in a few more decades lol.

I wore this to death in the late 80s/early 90s. It smelled like class, like money. Nothing smelled better than when you wore this with a suit. The notes described are spot on. Wish they still made it.

It's just ok for me. It's a decent citrus driven scent that lacks performance, no matter what version you get. Personally, this is at the bottom of my list in terms of best vintage masculine fragrances from the 80's.

I had this version back in the day and loved it, it was my signature scent. Gutted the price of the OG has gone up so much as would love to own again. Recently got a clone of this version and it's brilliant, so close to how I remember the OG. This is just brilliant, classic perfumery.

Beautiful, I own this vintage version, I love it deeply, a riot of freshness, but don't be fooled by the first sensations, its heart and above all the base is a masterpiece, I honestly don't know the current one but I can assure you that with this perfume you will be catapulted into an era where you were certainly not afraid to dare! The beginning is fresh, slightly green citrus, perhaps more aromatic, then an explosion of notes that characterize vintage, deep, emotionally charged perfumes... And he…. His Majesty the oakmoss, which I actually feel a lot right from the start, with him I have feelings of true hate and love, simply because he is omnipotent and I'm not always in the right mood…. It also happens to me with Chanel n.19, having said that it is a real jewel of high perfumery, even though I am a woman I love using it I like these perfumes which "speak of distant eras" fortunately I have several packs and I am very happy with them ❤️

Oh damn, I miss the original -84! Even the soap was so amazing, giving the projection and sillage for the whole school days then! It's so sad these truly gems being transformed to watery hints from their anchestors. I just got the original -80 Davidoff Cool Water, and it's the glass on it's own, blowing your senses out! I wish these elder powerhouse frags will be produced again, even out of the EC, just to being collectable abroad!

Opens with an citrus-orange note, has a caustic soapiness (carbolic soap,) also very musky. Has spices too. Also has a boozy quality at times. Is quite powdery and waxy, aromatic, and a little mossy. Projection is loud for the first hour, longevity as a skin scent is 7+hours. Works ok for a formal event, day or evening. Personally I just can't take to this. It's not bad, it's just off my skin it smells very soapy, (like a harsh, old-fashioned bar of soap,) and has a "stanky" muskiness. However, when smelt wafting through the air it smells much better: Refined, classy and expensive. There's a faint resemblance, but it doesn't truly smell similar to "Eau Sauvage". I prefer "Eau Sauvage" much more TBH. Definitely suits an older gent. Try before you buy.

Cosmair late 90's batch... Beautiful old school yet simple Lemon basil moss. Fruity yet green- Crisp like a salad. Reminds me of the veggie isle where they spray the produce automatically. Despite its simplistic aroma - it lasts for hours. As non offensive as you can get with this one. Almost has a shy quality. The last to volunteer to get up in class sort of personality. Daytime work scent for SURE. Elegant yet not THAT elegant - very casual. The Libra of the lemon chypres. It's Drakkar Noir WITHOUT the 'Noir' if that makes sense. Same zingy lemon verbena opening. NO dark lavender bite. Rests into a grassy old school sparkle. It's odd to say you wont find this nowadays because it is somewhat simple yet rare to experience and possibly impossible to compose nowadays with IFRA. It smells REAL - not fake like modern juices. That's what makes this so intriguing. I picked this up expecting it to be like D&G Pour Homme 1994 but it definitely goes it's own direction. DG PH is far more confident and aggressive like a loud Italian with money. This is his shy brother who doesn't want in on the boisterous family. Worth trying for sure! Especially if this sounds like your personality type.

So sad this scent is gone. Even the synthetic smelling replacement (bottle chrome at bottom versus original black at bottom) is gone. Luckily, someone told me to grab a bottle of Adolfo Domínguez' Agua Fresca – not the extreme, not the cedro, but the original. The scent is an instant flashback to the Armani original. The village sucks, but at the much cheaper price, go ahead and spray again after a few hours!
