I know everybody talks about the smoke and oregano parts of the interlude family, but the sweet, vanillic, sticky, almost syrupy resins and amber are equally as prominent as the smoke and oregano. 10/10 perfume, my SOTE 💙

A religious experience of a fragrance, nothing short of masterful. I had to spend some time with this fragrance and get to know it. When I first smelled Interlude 53, I just wasn't ready for Amouage. I recoiled when I was first exposed to it, put it down at the store, and moved on with my day. Months later, it found itself appearing in my mind after hearing some buzz. online For a while, I paid that thought no attention, but soon I relented and revisited the scent. I bought one decant out of curiosity, then the another as a guilty pleasure to be sprayed in the air, and then another to spray on myself. I then found myself needing a full bottle, and a full bottle I got. I didn't want to enjoy it, but I felt like I had no choice in the matter, truly. It is almost like it has a will of its own. Interlude 53 has a grip on me. It provides for an experience unlike any other I have had with a fragrance: completely intoxicating yet very commanding. But, don't assume that because it is commanding that it is controlling. It sounds strange, but wearing it feels like it comes from within you, not from the top of your skin. It projects melancholy, solemnity, but also peace and acceptance. This is real artistry. Rather than getting into the notes, I'll leave you with this: Interlude 53 is rewarding. It is mystical and ancient, as if it is living history, yet distinctly human. It is tangible and complex. It is like being shown the end of a story before reading the beginning of the book. It is truly deserving of the word "niche." Sillage: 9/10 Projection: 8/10 Longevity: 10/10 Scent: 10/10

I walk into the room, and my little 4½-year-old daughter says, "Daddy, can you put some perfume on me?" I say, "Sure, which one do you want?" At first, she points to Fragrance Du Bois PM, but then she immediately changes her mind and points to Interlude 53. I spray just one single spray on the back of her neck. I repeat—just one single spray. She smelled like it for three full days. During those three days, she swam in the pool every day and then took a shower afterward. Literally, the fragrance just wouldn't wash off her. And not only that, but because she keeps rubbing her hands over her body, it seems like she's spreading the perfume around even more, so her whole body smells of it. What an incredible fragrance—unbelievable quality and absolutely phenomenal longevity. My bottle of Interlude 53 is from late 2023.

This is purpose brother that has a less pencil smell and more sweetend amber then an added smoky note I prefer this to purpose cause I don't like the pencil smelling it has This one makes it lesser incredibly then amps up the amber I kinda like its smokiness it comes with i recommend trying it first then deciding if you want to have it or not it is a bit hard fragrance

I think I may even prefer this to the original, this isn't actually as intense to me either. Perhaps it's because of the higher oil concentration, which at times can actually reduce performance when it gets to a very high amount, like in interlude 53 which is a massive 53% oil concentration. It often takes a bit of heat to warm it up & get it to perform more, like jubilation 40 or an attar if you ever used one (where you rub your wrists or wherever you applied the fragrance together to warm up the oils) although I would not recommend doing this with anything but an attar (which are designed with doing this in mind) as it could change the scent in an undesired way. I don't think I really feel the need to say anything more on this fragrance. It's well known & I have already made a review of the original. 9.5/10

This is one of those fragrances that makes me nauseous every time I smell it. Interlude is just not for me.

Amazing smell and nuclear longevity - arguably the longest, only competing with Purpose 50 from the House of Amouage. As it settles on the skin after a couple of hours, it opens up with a hint of sweetness. Initially quite dark and smoky. Extremely rich perfume.

Longest lasting fragrance for men 53 percent perfume oil it is a beast mode perfume i try to use only half a spray

Without any doubt or hesitation, Interlude 53 is the best fragrance from this brutal and exceptional perfume house.

Interlude 53 is a strong perfume. The very first burst of this scent lets you understand the direction it's going. It definitely has a special aura. Even though it reminds me of florals like violet or iris, it's clear they aren't actually present. Instead, they used Pimento and Oregano in a scaled combination, as if they were flowers. First, the Pimento (I've never smelled Pimento oil) hits in the first 10 minutes, and it's beautiful. Later, the oregano fully emerges and takes over. This part is pretty strong and plays back and forth with the pimento. However, what I noticed and needs to be clear is how amazing and pleasant it smells in the air. It's one of those compositions that will absolutely be noticed anywhere you go. When you can feel it on yourself as you move, you know this is the real deal. It's pungent, direct, and leaves nothing else in the air to shine; it covers everything. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing, but I'm sure someone will love how dominant it is. If you care more about the sillage than how it smells on you, this would be a winner. My criticism comes in the dry down. Is clear there is Amber, Labdanum and a bit of Sandalwood, but those are there just to round it, While the opening has a pleasant aura, the first dry-down is very oregano-focused, maybe even too much. This is where I'm not convinced. The oregano is overpowering the initial combination and becomes the center. However, it's obvious this was a calculated move. Oregano likely has much more power than pimento, and it was placed stronger to allow the scent to be this dominant. For this reason, I have to stop my compliments at the first burst, as the rest smells like a mysterious spice box containing amber, labdanum, and some oud, but with a heavy bag of oregano at the bottom – a bag you'd gladly remove and reduce to make it smell perfect. Other than that, it's certainly a great scent that needs to be tested if you like oregano acting like a flower. I think it would do wonders on a woman, if she likes manly scents. It's one of those that you admit are excellent, and how many times you heard this about.. origano? Is a work that screams Amouage quality and refinement.

Love Interlude 53. Using it everywhere except office and formal meetings. Definetely stand out fragrance. Very similar to standard Interlude, but more darker and smokier. Outstanding longevity. I like to wear it just for myself, before the sleep and even in high heat. Then I'm feeling like bonfire but in best possible way.

Анонім

The scent profile is briefly extremely smoky, incensy, and slightly spicy. I can't really say I love the smell, but when I apply it to my arm with a decant stick, I just can't stop smelling my arm. Would I wear it outside? No. Do I want to smell like this? No. Do I constantly sniff it when applied? Yes. It truly lives up to the word 'niche' and has found its place in a love-hate equation for me. Even if you don't buy a full bottle, you should definitely give it a try. It’s a masterclass.

Анонім

Brutal in every way.

Анонім

No difference with regular Interlude in terms of smell, however performance is worse due to extrait having reduced projection

If you've struggled with Amouage's Interlude line like I did, there's hope. For years I found these fragrances as too challenging, too much oregano and smoke. I couldn't understand the hype! Finally, I committed to a bottle of Interlude 53, wore it consecutively for a week and something clicked. The depth revealed itself—that smoky, incensed character isn't a flaw, it's the point. This fragrance demands time and repeated wearing to develop a "palate" for it, just like it does with some wine or food. Interlude 53 is worth the patience. If you love fragrance but found the line intimidating, give it another shot. It might just become a mind blowing experience like I had: the complexity is the reward.

Holy Smoke. this is so strong masculine scent def for winter not for childish 9.5/10

Анонім

What an experience. However, this is not a daily driver; even in the winter. I have to miss it; and whenever I go back to it - I love every second of wearing it.

Анонім

The base notes are literally the notes i hate the most in perfume haha 😂 no thanx

Excellent beast mode fragrance that easily fills a room. This statement is correct. It also smells really goood. I won't say amazing, but it smells allright. This is an older mans fragrance. Typically grandpa-smell. Ie it's not for the younger men out there, it's just to "thick and heavy". That beeing said, blend and formulation is excellent. Presentation and bottle design is also excellent. If you like incesy-rich smells, this one will be right up your alley. Not for summer!

Анонім

One of the best beast mode fragrances. A must try, if you want potent power, like an Atomic Bomb, this one is it, the Original Interlude is even stronger than this one.

Анонім

Yes, this is much much more smoother than the original (interlude man 1:1). Has less incense, slightly more sweetness and is more well balanced with a considerable ammount of strength and sillage. But regardless of the outcome they are pretty identical, like brothers with just a year difference in birth.

If you love the smell of Pizza get this. On multiple wearing's the Oregano I think smells too similar to Basil which will remind you of Pizza. Not on all wearing's but on at least 3-4 occasions that is what a I got. If you want a fragrance that might transition into smells you never thought were possible, that are not listed in the note breakdown this is the juice that will do just that. One day I sprayed this on my skin and just kept smelling notes that have nothing to do with this fragrance, that are not listed in the Note Pyramid. If you are a true fragrance lover like I am, I highly recommend you try this one. I love this juice and I think it's an absolute must for people that love strong Beast Mode scents. I got hops one day, and I do not drink beer, like you are teleported to a Fresh Brewery, also got Wintergreen one time, and a pink bubble gum accord when I don't chew Bubble Gum. No other fragrance has done this for me. Truly magical juice in my opinion. I guess it's a very special aspect of this DNA. "Chaos is mentioned in this creation". Like a Hurricane, raging Tornado, some how this juice is able to teleport you to great places. I love Interlude 53. It sticks to your skin, like man's best friend, always there to comfort you and say Hello. The very first Niche Cologne I purchased $550 I paid, no discount for me. I also have the oldest batch of Gold Man with the Name on the top portion of the bottle not in the front like new bottles or on the side like later ones. Again I paid full retail for Gold Man $400 Considering I have a very rare batch, I will be selling my Gold Man bottle which has over 60% juice remaining. Gold man is a potent Rose Beast that leans too Feminine for my taste. I know someone is out there that will appreciate and love Gold Man. I think my bottle has a banned note, not sure what note that is. The juice I have is much stronger that current versions, I have smelled new batches and they are all weak, compared to mine. If you want the most powerful Gold Man Money can buy message me. I have a bottle of approximately 60% prescious juice still remaining The original Interlude is super cloying, 3 sprays max, you will clear out rooms potentially or you will make people Gag, but not with Interlude 53, the more polished elegant brother. A true work of art.

Almost didn't buy this after smelling it on the strip, but I ALWAYS give fragrances a full wear on skin before making definitive decisions, and Interlude 53 is precisely why. There is such a huge difference on skin compared to on the strip, and it's evolution on skin was very different as well. Such a well-blended, complex but very smooth, sophisticated scent with A LOT of depth that will last you an eternity on skin and clothes. The value for a full bottle is pretty steep, but with how little you actually need to apply and how long it will last on those few sprays, I'd say this is well worth it's high price tag. I'm not kidding when I say I can wake up in the morning, apply this fragrance around 8AM, wear it all day, go to bed later that night, wake up next morning and still faintly smell projecting off my skin, albeit in a more intimate radius. PLEASE SAMPLE FIRST. As much as I love this scent, it is the furthest thing from blind buy safe i have in my collection. CologneCurators is where I get most of my samples since they're a very one-stop-shop sort of place, rarely do they not have what I'm looking for. And no, I'm not being promoted by them. But I should be.

Lasts eternity on skin, much better than the original, much smoother, a lot less cloying, I have two bottles of this right now, the most enjoyable Amouage in my collection only behind Silver oud #1 and Royal Tobacco #2 and Overture Man #3 Journey Man #4 This one is great, smells good on skin and lasts longer than Royal Tobacco or Silver Oud This one is so good, for it's raw power, it's like an uppercut to your nostrils just fabulous. 10/10 For overall experience, long lasting, projection monster, good smell. A must try for fragrances fans of Niche offerings, #1 choice for Seldomly Often Reviewer If this one was ever discontinued it would go way up in value like Myth's Man Honorable mentions: Interlude Woman - Sweet berries Sublime Beast Mode Addicting Gourmand Beloved Woman - Haven't tried this one, has animalic notes Epic Man - This one did not impress me, need to revisit it Memoir Woman - Animalic, see lots of good reviews, probably a great one. Search - A high quality lemon scent, nothing special to me but a Millionaire Ranks it high Fate Man - recommended by a Rich Reviewer must try this one Gold Man - Old batch, Potent rose, smells good, much better on skin, loving this today Overture Woman - Beautiful complex Masterpiece Rose Incense - Top Tier Amaouge Please make an extrait version of this, incredible smelling Overture Man - Compliment monster, smells incredible, beast mode, but I wish it was even more beast mode. Journey Man - Spicy masterpiece, dry down is amazing, Extrait version needed Oud Ulya - Attar 100% Oil concentration this is Silver oud, most expensive Amouage $590 Leather Sadah - Attar By Cecile Zarokian, she does not miss. My favorite Perfumer.

As of now, I have tested Interlude Black Iris and Interlude 53. I do enjoy that Interlude DNA, but I prefer Black Iris over 53. Interlude 53 feels to me like you took the base DNA and just smoothed it over to the point where it's almost creamy. I was hoping for heavy smoke and spice. This was another case of people calling an Amouage fragrance hard to wear or challenging and it being quite easy to wear. I do really like the resinous base, but Interlude 53 is a like until it gets to the base. I will finish my sample and will stick to Interlude Black Iris afterward. I will say, the people around me did have a lot of nice things to say. I was asked what it was and I just said it was Tom Ford and the guy said, "I knew it was! I have a few Tom Fords and can always tell." 😬

There's nothing challenging or unapproachable about this fragrance for me. It's very sweet to me, like a gourmand for magical creatures whose diet consists of ambery incense smoke. When I wear Interlude 53 it feels like a magnificent cloak of rich blue smoke billowing off of me.

Анонім

Thick, oily beast. A bit rounder, smoother and better blended than the original interlude IMHO. What's so great about this when compared to the original is that it is verrrry slow in its evolution, just when you think it has settled into its final form, it completely changes into its next phase. In the first phase, you get the very spicy and herbal facets with lots of smoke, pimento, oregano and a bit of sparkly bergamot at the top, it's a blast in your face and the brightest, most aromatic stage. Honestly it takes about 1 hour just to leave the opening, and then I'd say about 3 hours in is when it really starts to settle into what we know as interlude. For this phase, you get that classic, rounded interlude smell which don't get me wrong is very beautiful, powerful and unique but also a bit challenging for me, it's almost a bit angry smelling, almost instills a feeling of instability. Not in a way that makes it unpleasant but it can certainly bring forward an intense mood. Very smokey and ambery in the phase with the herbs toned down a bit. Some perfumes are "cozy", "intimate", "warm hug", "comforting". This is not that. Or at least not until later. The words that come to mind during this middle phase are "massive", "cavernous", "dark", "Immense", "abyssal." You can expect a couple hours of this at least, and because it is less punchy than the beginning phase, your mind can be tricked into thinking you aren't projecting but trust me this stuff is still beaming off of you monstrously. Now past the 7 hour phase is when things start to really settle in and you get more of the warm, resinous, woody aspects. This is what I consider to be the start of the true dry-down. Hours 7-15 are when you are met with the most beautiful, luxurious, sillage. You really start to smell the oud, the leather, the woods and resins. the stage is truly intoxicating, addictive and inviting. Unquestionably, my favorite part of the whole wear experience, never smelled anything else like it. You can expect a 16 hour experience on skin so this is a big commitment. If you spray this on your clothes, expect them to smell like interlude for weeks and weeks. It won't go away until it's thoroughly washed. A work of art, not for utility, not for someone who just wants to smell nice. A true 10 in my eyes.

what an absolute stunner just like the original interlude but I’m definitely feeling that this extrait is more hot spicy on the opening and mid rather than the oregano forward OG and the levels of the fragrance last a bit longer between transitions. It is very oily and you can tell when you try to spray it. This scent warms me right up and wafts wonderfully and it’s so intoxicating. Dense, Smoky, Woody, Resinous with hints of spice and sweetness. It reminds me of a log on fire and the thick, dense and spicy smoke is choking you out but in a very good way. 10/10

After reading several detractors of this amazing (AMAZING) fragrance, I was beginning to doubt myself, but after about a month or so, I had the occasion to try it again. LOL!! Yep. I got it right the first time. This stuff is pure magic. Is it for everyone? Clearly not. And to those poor souls, I say "Oh well... Sucks to be you!" But as far as I'm concerned, this masterpiece is one of the greats if you're into (VERY) smoky, incensy, woody/oudy frags. Interlude 53 defines Amouage. If you don't understand Interlude 53, you're probably not going to understand Amouage as a whole. I thank my lucky stars I love this stuff. It's one of the finer things that really makes life special sometimes! 10.0/10.0 all day long.
