I feel like there is a smidgen of vanilla in the base. Just saying.

This is great. From the first spray, it has this citrus blast akin to maybe something like Eau Sauvage which is OK. However, the dry-down is where it shines. It comes across as this woody-tobacco combo. People say it smells like a cigar, I do get slightly where they're coming from. Does it smell like Aramis? No, not really. In the same vein as this is fairly masculine, like Devin (also part of the gentlemen collection). Just to note, I have the blue cone vintage bottle.

Such an underrated fragrance, smells like an 80s soapy fougere with strong tobacco, very classy and unique

I've got an 80s vintage and a sample from the Gentleman's Collection re-release and the difference is negligible. Havana is a constantly fluctuating experience for me, so at times doing a side by side comparison I would have said the current was ever so slightly sweeter, but then they'd both evolve and the vintage would be the slightly sweeter one. But if the overall trend is for the newer bottles to have a little more of that citrus sweetness, or to have it persist for longer, it's probably just due to slight degradation of the top notes in the vintage bottle over the decades. The mid and base notes, and the overall effect of wearing it, are the same, and equally enjoyable - no need to track down the vintage to experience the "real" thing. Don't overspray this one btw - it's beautiful with just one or two sprays and lasts all day, but more than a couple sprays and it becomes a bit cloying and would probably not be office- or enclosed space-safe at that point.

Bay rum with touch of birch tar on a fougère base. Some subtle tobacco and powderiness. The end result smells like plastic banknotes, sweet spices, ash tray. Comes off as balmy, almost sweaty in it's character. Like but not love.

Despite its rather uninviting opening, Havana ultimately proves to be a genuinely successful masculine fragrance. Its spicy-tobacco character immediately commands attention. One of my friends even remarked that it smells exactly like a cigar — and I can’t disagree. I particularly enjoy the contrast between the bitter, smoky tobacco and the sweet, warm cinnamon that shapes the heart of the scent. The result is completely different from the tobacco–vanilla interplay found in Tobacco Vanille — and let’s not forget, Havana came first. At times, I do find the composition a touch overwhelming, but that richness is also part of its charm. My rating: Recommended. (6/7)

Gotta make a statement after all these years: This is my absolute, all-time favorite fragrance along with Lagerfeld Photo and Gianni Versace Versus. Full stop.

I have the small 7ml vial splash from the Gentleman's Collection sampler; it may come off differently with an atomizer. The opening is pretty unpleasant to me. It comes off as make-up/lipstick, with some powdery dried floral vibes. These continue for the first 10-15 minutes, before the heart of the fragrance starts to pulse through. That's where things start to get nice. Cinnamon and tobacco start to make themselves known. Still the dry aromas of the opening persist. I've read from others on here that there's an Aramis accord that runs through most of their fragrances. Perhaps this is the accord they're talking about. If so, it explains why some of these fragrances come off as 'mature' or 'older'. JHL has it, but it's more smoothly integrated into the heart and base. With Havana, it clashes with the cinnamon and tobacco heart. I prefer the citrus opening of Tuscany, as far as Aramis goes. In any case, the dry down is quite nice. The tobacco subs for florals found in JHL. The powdery dry quality still floats above it, though, and I don't care for that. All in all, I like but don't love Havana. Not wearable in the hot and humid summers of the Carolinas low country here. I could see it as an evening party scent in fall and winter. But I have others I'd wear instead. My favorite Aramis remains the glorious Tuscany. It has more clarity and still grounded.

This is a stunning classic tobacco oriental fragrance and yes it is for mature and sophisticated men. It kind of reminds me of Roi Sons Equipage from HJ.

This is a very mature scent, I like my classic and mature scents in general but this smells reminds of my old grandma in the early 00s, it’s not a feminine scent, but it reminds you of old folks who used to smoke a lot.

Really good fragrance, I have a decant and tested a few days ago. There is a similarity with CK Obssesion for men, except for the cinnamon at the top. Lasted all day but I don´t think that is versatile, except for cold days. Pretty manly and I can get the tabacco and woods all the life of the scent. Sadly I hear that is discontinued cause I prefer this over the saturated fragrances of today...even niche fragrances.

Havana has a Tiger balm camphor kind of vibe in the opening.. but when it dries down it's nice, herbal almost medicinal and reminds me of a freshly opened pack of port royal rolling tobacco

Brought a bottle for my father 3 or so years back. He's away on vacation and asked me to check something in his room and I found this along with New West and Tuscano. I've been wearing it the last 4 days and holy this is nice stuff. I'm 33 and owned hundreds of perfumes and I'm always prive to a good tobacco perfume. This isn't as gold as Tobacco Reserve but the bubble it creates is beautiful. So I went online to buy a bottle for myself as the current bottle only has 20% left and I find out it's discontinued!! Damn I'd love a bottle of this juice! This is my second favorite after Tobacco Reserve of which I owned two and used both, can't find that anymore too! This is a grown up mature perfume as the person a few reviews down said it doesn't smell like an old lady perfume but you've smelt it on an old lady. Regardless I'm gutted I can't get another bottle. For me as a mature Tobacco perfume it's 9/10 only losing a point for versatility.

Beautiful Tobacco and Oakmoss combination. Timeless.

Fuck you Aramis for discontinuing this

This smells like, and I am not joking, my dad's body odor after he has bathed himself with old classic soaps and worn his already used shirt quenched with the smell of tobacco in his pockets. Nothing leathery, animalic, heavy about this smell, on the contrary this feels airy. This is the oakmossy soapy aromatic fougere recipe paired with the smell of tobacco leaves. I can see myself smelling this and crying in 10 years if my father is gone before me.

@Peter94 you defintely got a turned juice, maybe a wrong stored bottle. This fragrance is pure masculine heaven. In the same league with Beach But Man but even better regarding the quality of the natural ingredients.

I'm a 43 Scorpio woman and I freakin' love this myself!! Am wearing it now 😎 Feeling very exotic lol On the very first ever spray, the first thoughts that came to me was 'tobacco' and 'banana palm leaf' I think this would be a bit too strong for the steamy summer months here in Australia, certainly more of a cooler month one, in my opinion, however there is something oddly 'monsoonal' about this scent, and,as such, it would be perfect to wear in a summer storm

Although this doesn’t smell like an obvious ladies’ perfume, you’ve smelled old ladies in the past who’d wear something like this.

I get the impression that, as others too have attested, a number of these Aramis Gentleman's Collection fragrances, at least in their recent formulations, do well with age. That has been my experience with Devin. I bought Havana a few years ago, but I haven't used it that much, as I've always found it to be not a statement fragrance or an assuming one exactly but, let's say, a credible one, with its own character, and deserving of an appropriate context in which to wear it, which in my case doesn't come along very often. That said, when I first bought Havana, I didn't find it entirely convincing or appealing. To me it smelt like a fragrance that had a lot going for it but had probably been much impaired by reformulation. Not least, I found it mossy (and soapy), and I liked that, but to me the moss smelt a little thin or shallow (and clean), almost as if lying there forming one conspicuous layer of the fragrance without fully engaging with the rest of it. Well, I've worn this tonight for the first time in probably a year and to me it seems better integrated than it used to. The performance, though perfectly adequate, is still unexceptional, but the scent seems like more of a cohesive, classy, old-skool barbershop experience that has Aramis written all over it. Actually I've just worn this to the supermarket and there was a guy there wearing quite a lot of something very similar to this and at least very closely related to Aramis, so that I wasn't always sure whether I was catching his scent or mine; at no point was the experience anything other than great. For me this is primarily a cool- (not cold-) weather fragrance suitable day or night but, though not austere or abrasive, perhaps a little complex (and exuberant?) for many casual daytime contexts. I'm more inclined now than I used to be to consider this a good choice for a warmish summer night; it's soapy but also kind of fresh, not stuffy, and won't have everything smelling at all as if it's been left out in the rain too long.

Since its discontinuation, the prices have gone up immensely in the past couple of years for Havana. It will likely become one of those scents that will be hard to find and labeled as a "masterpiece". While I respectfully disagree, amongst the usual suspects in this genre, (and there are plenty) it is at least comforting and wearable. To me it's got a bit of old spice, polo green, and equipage, and could easily still fit in today's classic catalog. I love the combination of tobacco, moss, and basil which gives the composition an ashy, smoky, texture - overall virile and masculine to the core.

I really wish this was still $20 so I could justify buying a backup bottle. This is a great classic fragrance from Aramis, who have many great classic fragrances. It's floral, citrusy, and tobacco, and the tobacco is a more earthy, manly tobacco type of scent that your grandpa would smoke in his pipe. Dries down to that signature Aramis woody, leathery vetiver scent. This holds up, you can wear this in 2024, but you have to have confidence to wear something like this, and you have to dress nice, or else it just doesn't fit. Business casual, or maybe with a leather jacket or sport coat. Very much a year round scent. 9.1/10, bring it back Aramis!

Along with Quorum and Drakkar Noir, Havana is the most masculine scent I have ever smelled. This strong macho man fragrance takes no prisoners with its dense, brash blend of dry tobacco, strong spices, and rum. This is not a fragrance for a refined gentleman. Havana has all the elegance of a barroom brawl. It is raw, shameless masculinity in a bottle, and it doesn't care about your feelings.

This was one of the early fragrances on my journey. It is interesting in an old fashioned way, and strong. You might want to smell like this with some guys at a country club without a single female around. It was probably the most masculine fragrance that I have owned. I ended up selling it yesterdayj as I could not think of a situation where I would have reached for it. Gorgeous and interesting old school fragrance but not very usable on this decade.

Thankfully Havana still remains a lovely back n' forth of dry and cool, of spicy and warm, of old world gallantry and new world balance that undoubtedly gets the heels kickin' and captures the sultry charm of Caribbean-Latin sensuality and gentlemanly demeanor in a bottle. Basically, a seasoned green tobacco inflection dipped in bay rum, herbs, caraway and dry woods that steers in the burley wheelhouse of Roger & Gallet Open, Jacomo de Jacomo, Montana parfum and D.R. Harris Sandalwood... Ahh, grace indeed!

If you want a manly smell test it. Aren't you tired of the unisex garbage of today? It's a fresh spicy, herbal, tobacco leaf, mossy perfume. Sillage, longevity above average. You can use it in every season for any occasion, but in high heat one spray is enough. Unfortunatelly, the company decided to stop the production. So, if you find it, grab it without hesitation.

Revisiting this one - in the most simplistic terms possible, this smells like the clothes of someone who smoked a Cuban cigar. Best smelled in the air, not up close.

Ok so fragrantica's female ai has now developed an accent. I love scent that smell like old bush. This is classic every collector should own. Tobacco cinnamon barbershop. Clean, not clean. Sweaty not sweaty. Maybe you buy before ai gobble up.
