Ganymede Extrait by Marc-Antoine Barrois is the original turned up to 11. The original DNA is still there, but the added notes make this much darker, smokier and more intense. This is much more potent than the original, but for me, the opening is a bit too strong and harsh. It settles down nicely, but I still prefer the smoother, more wearable feel of the original. Performance is ridiculous though, extremely long lasting with huge sillage. A couple of sprays is more than enough. I can't give it anything more than a 7/10 unfortunately. It's a quality fragrance, but a bit too harsh for me. I’d go for the original which I rate 9/10.

Resinous, spicy, airy, slight hint of sweetness, metallic. A dark, mysterious version of the OG. It opens up very spicy and resinous with a slight hint of sweetness. I definitely detect some fruitiness, but I cannot pin point which kind. It loses the easy wear ability factor from the OG, so this is more special occasion. Fans of the OG will either Love it or hate it.

Lepši je zavrsetak nego početak..

bleu infini by balmain. i think bleu infini’s perfumer is inspired by quentin bisch :)

I really , really wanted to like this as the original is great. This loses that wear anywhere and anytime that makes the original a fantastic pick up since it is approachable yet completely different. Extrait on the other hand loses that airiness and just feels like a strong linear experience from opening to end. Not developing at all just losing strength as it progresses. I’m pretty sure this stuff can last 24 hours on skin. Will revisit in fall/winter.

WAY too damn strong. My nose almost left my face after I took the cap off and leaned in for a wiff. Smells similar, but way too strong.

This took me back to the beginning of the 90's when everyone used Kouros by Yves Saint Laurent and Lapidus Pour Homme by Ted Lapidus. This is super smoky, super unique, and very spicy. you must smell it before you get it. It's heavy and very '90s throwback Immortelle and Myrrh were super popular in the 80s and 90s!

For me, Ganymede Extrait is the definition of olfactory perfection. After owning more than 500 niche fragrances, this is the one that stands above all the others as my absolute favorite. Everything about it feels flawless on my skin: the composition, the texture, the projection, the aura it creates around me. It has this magnetic, futuristic elegance that somehow feels both unique and incredibly natural at the same time. Most importantly, it’s the fragrance that gets me the most reactions by far. Women constantly compliment me when I wear it — sometimes even stopping me just to ask what I’m wearing. Very few perfumes manage to create that kind of impact, but Ganymede Extrait does it effortlessly. To me, this isn’t just a great fragrance. It’s the closest thing to a perfect scent I have ever experienced.

Smells like bananas, Chinese food, and cheap metal cutlery all smushed into a blender. I am both repulsed and intrigued.

Strong incense woody,myrrh scent deep,harsh spicy,winter nights

The difference between this one and the edp is the smokiness added to the entire fragrance. I like this one way more

The Givaudan-fueled Akigalawood rocket has finally landed. After orbiting the fragrance space with the ubiquitous Ganymede and the "budget-friendly" industry darling Bois Imperial (propelled by Geraldine Archambault clever direct distribution), Bisch has pivoted to the elixir trend. While another "intense" flanker feels practically unnecessary, Ganymede Extrait proves to be the ultimate iteration of his interstellar formula. Unlike the original EDP, which left Major Tom floating in a cold tin can, the Extrait marks a successful re-entry. This is a minimalist synthetic trip that has finally found solid ground. The "atmospheric screechiness" that some found polarizing (myself included) in Bois Imperial has been filtered out, replaced by denser, warmer materials that shield the wearer from the burn of re-entry. It feels more mature: the metallic-mandarine & ozonic chill of space is smoothened by a resinous, incensey warmth and supported by a quasi-monolithic immortelle/myrrh combo + leather-adjacent woods. Also the performance reflects this homecoming. It is slightly less diffusive than the original Ganymede, but the longevity is still in line with the synthetic perpetuity. Is it extravagantly expensive? Absolutely, that's why discounters exist. Is it redundant? To a degree, yes. The DNA is there, but you can think of the EdP as a comet, and of the Extrait as a planet… so for those seeking a "happy ending" where the astronaut actually makes it back to Earth, this is the version that grounds the myth (with myrrh). Ground Control to Major (Quen)Tom: you’ve made the grade, and the planet Earth is smelling much better this time around. Enjoyed the read? I recognize this smell, but I can't quite place it. It's the smell of somewhere, of something. It's from my childhood, but I don't have a name for it. But if I were to imagine, maybe the smell of Mars is something like this.

Ganymede EDP is one of the best perfumes ever created. Unique, sexy, long lasting and addictive. The extrait, however is not for me. There is a kitchen smell in the back that I just don’t like. Must be the immortelle, a bit curry-like which, to my taste, makes it sooo less interesting and wearable than the original. Besides that, it costs twice as much. Did not get it, as much as I like the original, and definitely don’t recommend it.

Анонім★★★★★

Definitely in the vein of the original creation. However this could not be any different as well. Pungent, extremely spice forward, incensy. Medicinal immortelle is still here but on the very background. It does scream quality, but smells almost like a middle eastern take on a highly conceptual fragrance. All in all, i think OG Ganymede is a very austere yet illusive aura, while Extrait is just a fragrance.

Ganymede Extrait opening absolutely blew me away. It is a gorgeous blast of herbal notes, with a nice oud background. There is also a sweetness vinger like note in here that reminds me of cooking and balsamic vinegar. As it dries down this all combines into a note that reminds me almost of BBQ. The more it dries down the more my brain just can’t stop going, smokey sweet BBQ. Performance wise Ganymede Extrait is an absolutely power house. I got just under 12 hours of wear on my skin and about the same on my clothes. An 8/10 here. Projection wise, for the first 6 hours Ganymede Extrait projected strongly off my skin. Radiating within feet of me definitely, the smell was just present for me wherever I was. For the next 6 hours it faded to more of a skin scent but I still could pick it up if I got my nose close to my skin. A 8/10 here as well. Ganymede Extrait is a gorgeous smelling scent with amazing longevity and projection. That said I’m not sure I like it as a fragrance, I’m just not sure I want to smell like smokey sweet BBQ all day long most days. I feel like this is a very situational fragrance; so it’s a 6/10 overall for me.

Анонім★★★★★

Too much incense. Smells like something burnt. Not similar to original Ganymede. But longevity is eternal.

The Original was horrrific, this is Horrific multiplied by Horrific. This is not for the Human Olfactory system. I cannot understand why on earth someone would want to smell like this. I think this scent or if we can call it that belongs on the Moon Ganameyde. influencers hype up perfumes, and the laymen believe they should like a scent just because so many claim it smells F.... great. People use your noses, if you hate it then its a sick smell.

I’m just testing this first impression there’s something in it that reminds me of Amouage Interlude Woman

Comparison of the EdP and Extrait Peer through a powerful telescope towards the largest planet in our solar system and you might catch a moon called Ganymede. It is enormous. The brown, icy, saltwater covered body is larger than some planets and generally acts like one too (aside from orbiting Jupiter, obviously). This is a theme that is going to carry through Quentin Bisch’s compositions for Marc-Antoine Barrois. Expect Ganymede, and others, to be very large, spacious, and extraterrestrial-feeling in their presentation… and, just like the celestial bodies for which they are named, unfriendly to us earthly humans. The note pyramid is pretty much useless, save for the immortelle and akigalawood, the two of which - especially the latter - take up most of the volume in the bottles. The two are augmented by also large doses of suederal and safraleine that give stridently fake and synthetic impressions of leather and saffron to the point where you shake your head and say “no, these notes are not saffron or leather.” Their unholy alliance with the akigalawood-forward base is effectively all there is to Ganymede. Bisch uses a very minimalist approach to the composition in terms of “what goes into the formula”, which in conjunction with the overt and “empty” synthetics creates this enormity of space and air inside the notes. This is most apparent in the EdP, whereas the extrait smells noticeably tighter, tauter, and “closer” together. The extrait behaves better as well, choosing not to launch itself into the air like the EdP does and instead slowly off-gasses into the environment around you like plumes emanating from pores in Ganymede’s surface. For these reasons, the extrait is better than the EdP. It feels more whole and more complete. The extrait has a gravitational force that pulls you in, whereas the EdP has just a bit too much uncomfortable empty space. The vast majority of synthetic perfume materials cannot stand on their own as things that smell good; they are building blocks containing neat little slots by which a perfumer plugs something(s) into it to create a broader accord with more depth, breadth, and texture - but Quentin doesn’t do this. Ganymede manages to be enormous and loud, room filling and omnipresent, but without taking up a lot room in the air. The materials give a very spartan and metallic/mineralic feel, hard and salty, cold and icy, chiseled and sharp. Overall there is a classic, yet very synthetic, old school masculine leathery woody cologne vibe that is understandably very appealing. But neither the EdP nor the extrait smell good, nor is there enough art in them to be interesting enough to revisit. These are very nearly scrubbers for me - which is incredibly tough. Have you ever tried to scrub away a moon?

Анонім★★★★★

A softer and lighter version of its predecessor, Ganymede Extrait leaves nothing to be desired in comparison. Powdery yet sharp.

Анонім★★★★★

Not for me it smells like resins, earth and an undertone of incense lurking in the air. The immortelle note is really unpleasant mixed with synthetic flowers and overwhelming woods, the woods you smell in a sauna dry super scratchy, and a bit dusty. Projection and Longevity is crazy good. I get somebody would like this but totally not for me, smells to much futuristic… I prefer something more toned down or at least something more sweet. 5/10

Анонім★★★★★

Singed copper, burnt synthetic florals, a hay maker of a chemical right hook to the olfactory system. This has immortelle in, allegedly? Putrid stuff.

Анонім★★★★★

This is one of the most horrid perfumes I've ever smelled. I let it sit on my skin awhile and it never got better. I finally had to just scrub it off. I don't even know how to explain the fragrance, but in my opinion, it is NOT good. This one gets a 1/10 from me. Oh and it smells absolutely NOTHING like Matiere Premiere "Crystal Saffron" or "Crystal Saffron Extrait." I love both of those.

Анонім★★★★★

This fragrance ages very well in the bottle. My current bottle is about 4 months old. At first, I was not too crazy about it; the opening overpowered with the incense myrrh, but as this has aged a bit, it has improved tremendously. The opening is not so intense, and it’s mellowed and blended. The mandarin is coming through way more now, the incense and myrrh are still very present but not as slap you in the nostrils as when it was new. Much more balanced now and very much like the original, just even more staying power and strength overall, if that's possible. Very much a thicker, more dense version of the EDP, which is to be expected as an extrait. It has become a new favorite after it’s aged a bit. If you have a bottle that you haven't worn in a while, try it again if you were unsure prior due to the intense opening.

Анонім★★★★★

Cough-cough. Must be the myrrh. Officially too much for me and that’s saying something. Does not smell exactly like maple syrup but has the same trait of nestling in the nose for awhile and masking everything else around. Weird. Love Ganymede so this is unexpected.

Анонім★★★★★

I would have liked an amped up version of the original for the extrait, but this is lacking that beautifully unique mineral accord. It has an overwhelming herbaceous odor instead. Hard dislike.

Анонім★★★★★

I am a woman and Ganymede Edp is my signature scent and I love it.. but I would see extrait as a distinctly masculine scent.. I definitely do not recommend extrait to women, it is very heavy, smoky and oud. The DNA of the original Edp is still somewhere in the background but there is no longer that mineral lightness that flies through the air in the Edp version.

Анонім★★★★★

I accidentally ordered a sample of this one instead of the OG, I sprayed this on paper and I hate to be reductive but it smells like Indian curry. I feel like this takes away all the good parts of the original but I don't even want to find out by spraying this on my skin since it's also very strong

Ganymede by Marc-Antoine Barrois is one of those fragrances that doesn’t follow the usual rules and that’s exactly what makes it so compelling. Right from the start, it gives off a clean, slightly metallic vibe with a salty-smooth suede note underneath. But then things get interesting, there’s a mineral feel, almost like hot stone mixed with a hint of citrus and spice. No sweetness, no heavy oud, no vanilla. It’s sharp, modern, and abstract. The leather in Ganymede is soft and futuristic, more polished than rugged. And instead of warming up like most fragrances do, it stays cool, airy and slightly sharp throughout its wear. It's one of those scents that smells expensive but without being loud. It lasts long and projects well without being overpowering. People will smell it on you and likely ask what it is because it doesn’t smell like anything common. With Love From Nigeria.
